  • Just an example how to make a simple music and video in acid as in videoresponse...

But it has nothing to do with hip hop.

  • In the credits why does it say memory next to jason

  • Because Memory's real name is Jason?

  • Did you make this into a song or can I steal that beat lol

    Good job great beat

  • 3:53 "Programming individual snares and then pitching them up as they progressed" Those snares sound like they are being pitched down as they progress.

  • Yep. Either up or down works though, I just misspoke.

  • dude....I have been doing this shit the idiotic way for mad long *pause*

  • what's the name of the keyboard you used for the bass and where did you get it from?

  • yo dj or sum1 who knows...i cant figure out how select a drum for one... and paste as whatever note value into the workspace

  • Double click or drag and drop

  • Dude... you're a talented brother. I just dedicated a computer for my music recording and I'm unsure if the soundcard even supports 24 bit. My question is... have u/or anyone else heard of the 2496 and what's your opinion of it used in conjunction with acid? Thanks.

  • you are the man thanks

  • can you help me with drums pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, i can never do them right

  • heres some tips, kicks usually go on the 1st and 3rd quarter note while snares and claps go on 2nd and 4th, hit hats usually go on every second note

  • very insightful video... I am really new to this but I'm going to look at this video for reference more than once ... by the way is there a website u know of that has a library of instrumentals and acapellas I can glance over so I can make some simple mixes of my own? Thanks alot man

  • nice tip w d drum roll man... clever, thiers alot of us out here learning shit from u man so keep yo shit goin... peace

  • do you think the acid ,7 is good or better

  • awyt dj white boy i learned something from u this time, n ur beat was dope this time too... excuse me thats dj pain 1 to me... peace

  • Wow, you even favorited it.

  • He talks about adding scratches and insturmentals but where do you suggest i get these from?

  • where do you gt scratches from?... A DJ!

  • Great video man =)

  • This is a great informative video. The Acid Pro Seminar Series from Sony is informative but so boring but a hip hop version if Sony was to use you for it would be hard for all of the real hip hop producers.

  • Pain dat was a serious vid.. ive had acid 4 a while and havnt really got the jists of it, until now that is.. and dat beat u produced (with ease) sounded really gud.. any more vidz to come?? like how to produce complex beats??

  • I'll be uploading a new one hopefully tomorrow... it's not so much a tutorial video as it is a demo video with a couple tips for more advanced users.

    Thanks!

    P

  • for you acid is the best production program?? what you think of fl studio?? acid is a litle bit more analog isn't? i use fl... but if you say that acid is best i will gethim...

  • It's not any different than FL studio... it's just that FL studio may have a more user friendly interface. ACID is a multitrack recorder as well. Try downloading an ACID trial and see if you like it. Otherwise, if you are good with FL, stick with it :)

  • Fruity Loops SUCKS!!! Acid Pro 6 ALL DAY EVERYDAY!!! You are so limited in Fruity loops it's a shame. If youre looking for a quick beat and you don't want to pop your brain out wit making a creative mix you should go with that but it is way too many far advanced features on Acid Pro 6 that you can imagine. With the right sounds, VST's, accapellas and mid for it you can't lose

  • yo man thats kewl i aint got no problem makin beats now, thanks...peace

  • Your clips are actually AWESOME and very helpful. You explain everything in a very clear and concise way, man you should be a teacher! Thanks a whole lot!

  • Thanks!

I actually am a teacher... Secondary English, which is not audio production, but I do teach audio production to high schoolers here on campus.

  • wuzup DJ Pain, Im recording off Acid 6.0 and bought a creative 24-bit sound card. The problem is im recording through a mixer to the computer and it seems like when i record the playback music also goes into the recording also which you can hear the beat in the background of the recording (not just from the headphones being too loud) which eventually throws the vocals off from the beat. I have no idea how to get rid of this and this only started happening when i bought this soundcard

  • Send me a PM and we'll do some troubleshooting. I used to have the same problem as well. I believe you just have to mess with your sound card's settings.

    P

  • Quality videos mate.

Ive been using acid 6 for a few months, and hooked my keyboard up, these videos have been a huge help, and easily understood.

    you got props over here!

  • And you even quoted the Beatnuts. :)

Thanks for the feedback-- glad I could help.

    P

  • thank you for this video! make some more please :D

  • yo, what sample did you use for that one beat with the snare? can you send me it or something?

  • for that one beat with the snare?? haha... be more specific please.

  • the one you said that had that 808 snare in it. the one at 3:33

  • Can't send the sample, but it's off a 7th Wonder record.

  • thanks for the info

  • download a trial and just search for a keygen ul find one in minutes on google =)

  • damn you make the sickest beatz...can you please tell me if therez ah way i kann get tha latest acid version for free?

  • You can download it straight from Sony and use it for an entire month for free. Also, if your aim is to just make beats and not necessarily use vst's or advanced effects, you can get a copy of ACID music studio for cheap-- 60 dollars or so.

    P

  • you can go to mininova and get one free but be careful

  • Mane!! You are the shit!! I learned alot!!!

  • does the mpd 16 work on this

  • ACID 6 has the best MIDI support out of any of the versions, so I would imagine any MIDI controller, including the MPD 16, would work just fine (with the right plug-ins).

  • like what would be rite plug ins

  • omg how did u disappear like that, are u hip hops david blaine

  • I've been told I look like him... I don't know.

  • Lol, I didn't want to say, but I think you look like him a bit lol =D

  • David Blaine is thug.

  • How do you combat the latency in Acid?

  • Options menu> Preferences, "audio" tab. Adjust the "User Recording Latency Offset" until your recorded tracks match up. Unfortunately, this could take a few tries. Best of luck.

  • hey man, what type of keyboard are you using??? i wanna get a keyboard that has more beats programmed into it but all I have found so far are keyboards with only about 100. any help on picking a preferable keyboard??

  • I use the Motif. Go to a music store and try a few out and buy the model that best suits you. Keyboards are a big investment-- make sure you've chosen wisely!

  • Thnx for all the secret info man on production. I'm just starting with Acid, have used reason for awhile but acid seems to be so much easier especially with the sampling. Just made my first realy good track using a charles mingus sample.

  • DJ Pain, your beats are fantastic! i just get afraid of making music because i only have a computer and i whink that without that Dj equipment hip hop beats are not possible... =(

  • Nope, anything is possible, especially if you're only making beats.

It easier to have a record player and a keyboard, obviously, but when I started producing 10 years ago, all I had was a computer.

  • Thanks =)

  • hey i looking to buy a keyboard, for beginner what would you recommend? That can connect to PC.

    Thx.

  • I could've sword I replied to this comment already, but I guess I hadn't.

Try the Yamaha MM6. If you only want a midi controller, check zzounds dot com and search around for midi controllers. They don't cost much and you can always expand your sounds for much cheaper than the cost of additional keyboards.

  • ye its nice, i played around with it in the store but its pretty expensive for me.. i dont no yet.. i looked at this keyboard for $160-200 it didnt have any sounds in it but the guy said who worked there, it works with acid. (soft synths) Is it possible to get more different types and use it with acid?

  • I definately learned some valuable stuff.

    Excellent video.

  • Great!!

    Thank you for watching!

  • Hey, I really appreciate your videos very interesting. I am a beginner with acid and I am wondering how you use vst's (i.e. antares auto tune?) Also, anyway you would make a video showing more vocal production techniques with acid. Example of delays and other effects?

    Thanks

  • First, you load auto tune in a track's or bus' effects menu, then you search "using antares autotune" on youtube. Only one result should come up. It's a pretty good tutorial.

  • great stuff. by the way you lokk like the entertainer from i love new york!!!

  • Darn, I wish I watched TV so I could tell whether that was an insult or compliment hehe.

    Thanks for watching,

    P

  • The reason why I want to try the 5.1 surround is because I heard a rap track on XM Radio in my car because it actually sounded like someone was rapping along with the song in the rear passenger side speaker. I was like "Wow!! I have to do that!!" I'll look up the Ultrafunk Surround VST plug-in. Thanks for the tip!!

  • Nice tutorial. I never messed with the chopper I always did it like back in Acid 3 with zooming in and cutting and pasting. I am frustrated right now with the 5.1 surround pan. I don't know if I am doing it right or not but its not letting me use my voice to pan to the rear speakers. The included help tool on Acid Pro doesn't go into detail and the Acid Pro 6 Seminar videos doesn't even mention it. arggh!!

  • Unless you're producing for video, don't mess with 5.1

My suggestion is that you get a program that pans in stereo, but emulates or "fakes" if you will 360 panning (the Ultrafunk Surround VST plug-in for example).

Remember: CD audio supports stereo only.

  • Great video once again. Will you make more vids using Acid? I would like to see another one where you are chopping samples more. Also, do u find making songs in Acid time consuming? Thanks!

  • I'm trying! I don't have a video camera, so it's not easy, hehe.

I find ACID really efficient-- mostly because it acts as a multitrack, drum machine, sequencer and sampler. Most programs aren't able to play all of those roles seamlessly.

  • thanks for the quick reply. I hooked up my mpd16 to Acid and making beats now. LOL! When you get a chance, check out some of my mixes done in Acid. Thanks and keep posting vids.

  • GREAT VIDEO - I learned a lot!!! THANKS

  • thank YOU!

    P

  • omg its funny

  • Do another mayne!!!!!!!!!!! ur shit is tight do anotha one sampling with the beatmap please
