Glory to the creator.

  • I think this a wonderful song, gospel singer willie mae ford smith put me in rememberance of my grandmother Alice Anderson. It's a blessing when you can find true warriors on this journey that can really worship the Lord Thy God with power and fire that come from the Heart. I pray to God that I will be able to meet my love ones one day that made it into the Kingdom of Heaven. May God bless the Spirit of God that gave her this song..Thank you JESUS. this is true praise

  • MY MY MY!! this part just kills me!! HER VOICE IS SOOOOOO STRONG!!!!!

  • Absolutely gorgeous.

  • AT 5:46 he betta beat that piano!

  • It's like a Joyful Tearful moment.....

  • Wow...HOLY!! My father had that radiance-of Moses-just-from-the-presence-of-God in his singing, also! Very difficult to find that today in Christian music. The "mountain" that these warriors of the Faith climbed, though, was a LIFE LONG commitment to sanctification and obedience to their God and His Christ.

  • go head withthat baritone voice willie mae u betta sing

  • lol, ok i thought i was the only one with this dvd...LOL

  • Gospel music is in dire need for this kind of singing today!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @miami25 Its hard to find this kind of singing today because the struggle that they whent through is different from the struggles of today. they sang out of there pain and there struggles a lot of times. there was such a powerful anointing on them back then!!!!

  • yes suh somebody ought to say amen!!! Thank ya jesus love this documentary.

  • i would love to see her homegoing service

  • 6:09 YESSS!!! That's what I'M talking about! A GOOD shout!

  • Comment removed

  • @TheBlessed58 I didn't mean to remove comment at all, I meam't every word I said about this amazing song and the sound of her amazing, awesome and anointed voice of Mother Willie Mae Ford Smith. I have never heard not one person that can sing this song with the power of the anointing like this true pioneer of The Gospel. I really love it and I play this song everday I'm blessed to live & at night before I go to bed. I pray one day I can find this Tape with just this song. To God Be The Glory,

  • @526478534 What a anointing HALLELUJAG!!!

  • "Old time" "new time" what the difference when the spirit there?

  • Does anyone know the name of the woman embracing Miss Willie May at 3:45 who says Rock On? I can't recall her name but have seen her over the years on the gospel music circuit.

  • That's her daughter

  • The director's commentary on the DVD says it's Zella Jackson Price's mother who says, "walk on".

  • @cshb: Yes, thank you! Thanks for that bit of info from the director's commentary. It's ture because I read that Mother Ford had a long-standing career relationship with Zella Jackson Price's family. The Price family would manage a lot of Mother Ford's singing engagements, etc. They were all singers themselves and would often open things up before Mother Ford would sing and preach.

  • The call and response style @ 1:24 is so moving and touching. Takes me back to my childhood church when the old saints use to just ad lib and make the song so beautiful

  • I simply LOVED her and her anointed voice!!!

  • Now Thats AUTHENTIC Praise Right There! Mother Willie Mae Ford Smith Was A True Kingdom Worker! This Scene Brings Me To Tears Everytime I See It! Love Thos Dovumentary! Say Amen, Somebody

  • I just love reviewing the late "Mother Willie Mae Ford Smith". It is such a pleasure seeing her sing and serving God as she showes on "Say Amen Somebody". I really wish I had the oppurtunity to have shared that moment with the celebration given. Nonetheless, each time I review the movie I feel that I had been there in person. It's a wonderful watching all the particpants of "Say Amen Somebody".

  • OMG what an anointing! How I miss those days when all was on "One Accord"

  • Sang Willie Mae!!! Luv it

  • man i love this clip even though i dont know everythinhg she saying her spirit is amazing she's not singing for show which is what allows the holyghost to move i remember going to old Baptist services like this but know its rare in any church

  • I am bound for Canaan land, To that happy golden strand. There I shall receive a blessing For the work I've done below. There I'll meet my loved ones gone on, And the others gone on before. I'll be in that great reunion When we gather around the throne. Though unworthy I may be, God has prepared a place for me. He is the king of glory, He's the man of Galilee.
  • wow wasn't expecting that but i needed and wanted it i may try this one sunday thank you very much

  • I believe its in two of the baptist hymnals.

  • yes!!!! thankx 4 the words!!!!!

  • My God!!! HOLY!!!! Holiness!!! That's that ole time Holy Ghost church. Praise Him y'all!!!

  • This is the old line Holiness Church that I loved so much:

  • AWE MAN AWE MAN they dont walk the floor like that more...I miss it sooo much. Thats when the holyghost was real and not for performance, if we could go back to those days...Thanks for post. TO GOD BE THE GLORY!!!

  • YES, LAWD!!!! Remember the old mothers walking the floor, cuz they couldn't move like us young'uns...but, their walking had more power than our dancing anyway...GLORY TO GOD!!!

  • My grandmother used to say " if you live you will know what I'm talking bout" (when she would sang). I've learned to appreciate hymns and I do know now what she was talking about. No matter what you may be going through, if you reach back and grab one of those old hymns, it seems that the load tends to get just a little lighter and the light at the end of that tunnel gets a little brighter if song from the heart. Thank you grandma & Ms. Smith and the old school church for paving the way.

  • This is what I call Having Church

  • There is a longer unedited clip of this song with her singing it.........she actually did a little introduction, and an extra verse to this song..............it doesn't have the praise break....the unedited song w/o the praise break is about 10 minutes....

  • @vsumass Was it like a picture with her in a white dress and it showed different pictures of her? If thats the one you talking about they took it down :( b/c I loved that version of it also but I cant find it on here anymore..

  • does annyone know the name of this song

  • Bound for Cannan land

  • I'm bound for Canaan Land.RIP Mother

    Willie Mae Ford Smith

  • I Just Love this clip. To look at it and feel the Spirit is beyond words

  • say amen somebody???

  • WOW good old church singing how i miss that churchy sound!! but mother getting at it 6:22 bless Him mother!

  • grace and pace this remind me of my mother i com from the old school

  • I loved this documentary....it was excellent!!!!!! Brotha is playin dat piano @ 5:50 and that is a sho nuff "Old School Baptist Shout" @ 6:10...taking out half the choir stand with you...LOL!!!!! And my choir director is a kinda big lady about the same size as the one at 6:22 and shouts just like her...LOL!!!!!! The Barrett Sisters, Rev. Thomas A. Dorsey, Mother Willie Mae Ford, Sister Sallie Martin...this documentary is packed with legends in the Gopel realm & good music & stories too!!!!!!!

  • This song she sings is soooo anointed and YES she is remembered from the work she did

  • Lord God. Did u see as she moved across the floor @ 4:14 how the Spirit of God began to move & touch the people. Now that's church. Come on Holy Ghost!! They had church after mother sat down!! Praise Him y'all. HOLY!!!! My God

  • DID I SEE HER! Yes! and I felt the anointing too.

  • It is good to praise the Lord!! I had not heard this song for quite some time, thank you; it is very uplifting. God be praised.

  • I love your comments here. Yes, Mother Smith radiate Joy and the Love of Christ, wherever she went. What a great example for generations to emulate. So glad I had the chance to hear her often as a child in St. Louis!

  • I also find myself crying each time I see this amazing lady minister in song. I've seen this documentary more times than I can count, I now own it! I hope that I will be able to meet this precious lady in heaven someday.

  • Oh, i agree. I listen to this song because it gives me comfort to know my greatgrandma is peacefully home with God. She made me who i am today, saved, and on God's kingdom train.

  • I cry everytime I get to this part of the documentary. I have seen the entire movie, this is my absolute favorite part. Just makes you wish you can see the entire service.

  • Beautiful, simply beautiful.

  • i cry everytime i hear this song

  • Oh yes!

  • prasie him at 6..09

  • Dedicated to Beatrice Arthur 1922-2009

  • I hope Bea was a believer I would love to see her in heaven! And Willie May Ford Smith is was so awesome I miss her and I thank God I have this movie

  • I've loved this video ever since I was a child and have appreciated the message its given and the artists profiled....having said that, there are two things that me and my father always cracked up about;

    1. Notice that Mother Willie Mae's daughter through tears, signals the band to stop playing (5:07)... AND

    2. immediately wipes her mother's face with the tissues she's been blowing her nose into for the past 3 minutes. (5:21)...

    It's all love fam!!!

  • ROTFLMBO @ #2

  • LOL i never really paid that any attention

  • What are the words to this song I would love to teach it one day

  • Verse:

I am bound for Caanan land.

    To that happy golden strand.

There I shall receive all blessings

For the work I've done below.

    Refrain:

I'll be so gald to meet the prophets.

And the others gone on before.

But I long to see my Savior.

He died to save us all.

  • Optional refrain:

I'll be so glad to see my Mother

    My Father, brother, sister too.

My sister and my brother and the Father.

He died to save us all.

(If it is sung as a choir song as opposed to a solo, the choir will sing the same as refrain 1 for the background.)

  • I also remember when we use to rent this video and my great grandmother who is gone on now, use to let the tears flow down her cheeks while listening to this song and Precious Lord. Oh how I wish for those days now.

  • Comment removed

  • We used to rent this video from Blockbuster (back in the mid-80s) and watch it with my late grandmother...who favors Sis. Smith. Precious memories!!

  • amen and amen!!!

  • Yes this is a good ole baptist hymn....Yes Suh!

  • Cannan...its in the Baptist Hymnal

  • Not a dry eye in the house or in mine right now. This is truly the annoiting and true church

  • this is so inspirational.. Wille Mae Ford Smith was and will always be a special lady who took the charge that was given to her by the Lord and carried it until her demise!! Thank You Lord for genuinely beautiful people like this dynamic woman of God! Spectacular!

  • Canaan

  • Go ahead on!! play that piano!!!

  • This same movie will be playing on the Gospel Music Channel on Sunday nite at 9pm.

    It's worth recording!!!!

  • This is by far a classis Mother Willie Mae Smith has a timeless and authentic voice that will never be forgotten...

    Eric

  • Willie Mae has a very strong voice.

  • they dont sing like this no more you can feel the power

  • I love it, I love it, I love it! I actually have this video "Say Amen Somebody" and have not watched it in a few years. But you can best believe I am going to pull it from the archives and look at it in it's entirety....this is TRUE gospel!!!

  • I have always loved this clip! but there are three things that crack me up 1) The piano player with the afro banging on the piano 2) The lady in the choir stand shouting and 3) the heavy lady at the end running down the aisle. This brings tears to my eyes in more ways than one!

  • I have the exact same response....after I can clear my eyes from crying and praising God....I do get tickled (in a very innocent way) at the same 3 things.......

  • excuse me my mom and I love this video can you tell me where you purchased or how I can go about getting it.

  • That was funny. The piano player was getting it between 5:47-5:58.

  • lol sholl wuz

  • Old school church is timeless to me. We need to go back to it every now and then. The modern stuff is cool, but you gotta have something within to sustain you. I've learned to appreciate hymns as I've gotten older.

  • Im sorry but at the end I had to shout alittle bit.

  • why are you sorry, that is a good reason to shout alot, when you think about after our journy is over, we going to get out blessings

  • one thing I have noticed, watching these classic videos, the singer knows when to put the Mich down, theses days, they beat the song so long that folk get tired
