I'm so glad to hear you play this piece at the appropriate tempo and with FEELING! My father was a professional classical guitarist, his name is Francisco Diaz and he and I both believe a lot of guitarist play too fast and without the emotion that the guitar is supposed to have. They play at a fast tempo to showcase the technical mastery that they have achieved. The Waltz is not a fast dance! I do not think that playing blinding fast will bring tears to someone's eyes, but I have made people cry
I am so happy to find your performance of this piece. My original teacher is a fine performer - I can't afford to go to him now - but your performance takes into account everything that he tried to get me to see and feel with the music. Now I can hear how some of the accents should be stressed to get the music to come through on such a difficult piece. And you are playing in the correct positions too! Many guitarists do not. Thanks - I will look for your other performances.
I won't name names, but it is truly a shame that people don't seem able to keep their negative comments to THEMSELVES. Hey, if this is not fast enough for you, then don't listen. This insatiable lust for negative criticism is sad. I have heard many, many interpretations of this piece and have enjoyed them. To the guitarrist: THANK YOU for sharing your talent and love of music.
interesting that people disagree about the tempo of this piece. I think by playing it so slow you are europeanizing this waltz, which is supposed to be a latinamerican valse. You guys should check Alirio Diaz's interpretation, he should be the reference.
wowww i been watching many the interpreters playing this waltz piece here in youtube some of them play really fast or slow or no heart but this one by this guy has the right heart is great so natural and good feeling great job man is a pleasure to hear youre interpretation thank you for sharing youre talent
Excelent!!! For those who criticize him for playing it at slow tempo please listen to Lauro himself playing it in a CD called "Lauro interpreta a Lauro"
This was also my first Lauro piece. I first heard it when I was 13. I didn't have the sheet music, so I learned it by ear...tough song to learn when you're just starting out on classical guitar. I really enjoyed this, and I've enjoyed your videos, you're a great player!! Scott
This is the tempo that I take this piece... and you do a wonderful job of it. I sounds more elegant and stately....playing it a breakneck speeds sounds like it is hastily rushed; and although that might cause some guitar pickers to gawk...it sounds better at a 'moderate' pace. Great job!
Right now I'm playing Freight Train, and I've learned Dust in the Wind.... maybe in another 30 years when I'm 80 I'll be able to play like you-baring arthritis.. and a host of other wonder impairments disorders that comes with age....
In other words, that was a wonderful performance. BRAVO
Hey Modesto, may I ask you when did you started playing classical guitar? Your performance is very inspiring to me, and I'm sure your answer will also be.
I need to learn this.... eh... I learned the second movement Valse Venezolano 2. Then El Negrito.... my brain was slightly fried. Its really hard music, but very idiomatic for the guitar.... Lauro did a great job of writing for the guitar.
I really like your interpretation, the movement, the time you give to every note you are playing on this melody it is precise, excellent job. Congratullations
You played very good! It's beautiful. Do you have a tap for this classical guitar song? Would you please send it to me? I'm greatly appreciated for your kindness!
good mornirg...really good perfomance...I have a question...you have different cain of classical guitars...Im interested about line 6 variax 300nylon..I want to known if you play the same song with this guitar and other..where the difference is the instrument and not the piece..
Just Beautifull!! For many years I've been wanting to play this composition. Just learned the notes and will be practicing to play it the best possible.
Excellent, This song was composed by Lauro in Chile in 1945, later on he dedicated it to his daughter Natalia, who lives in mexico now. You can better your right hand's technique, anyhow you play very good
There are in uTube another version but IMHO this is the one with best overall sound. Being a pianist was playing along with my son btw 'UNLP. edu ar' Arts Faculty.
Great interpretation Modesto,,,I'm shure Lauro didn't agree to play it at such up tempos because the composition is so beauty, and rich of lyrism,,,, I've been hearing that venezuelan waltz since i was about eighteen years,,now i'm 68,,,,It was a song very popular among our guitar players at those times,,now on it has been internationalized thanks to those good musicians like you who honored a very outstanding musician like Antonio Lauro,,Thanks and think that tempo always be a not end matter.
This is such a difficult piece to play mellifluously. I've heard many great guitarists play this at burning tempos, but your performance is the sweetest version I've heard so far. It's smooth, clear and full and musical. Good job.
@ProtoCosmos yeah I really dont think this song sounds so great at such a fast tempo. Im glad i found this slower version. The second part of the song sounds so humble and optimistic, it should be played that way.
