Not at all appealing. It steals half the screen along with making user end day to day tasks probably harder to get to now.
Shoot for more screen for the user, lesser resource, your own UI atleast, and make things 1 to 2 clicks away. Make it easier to use first (then the 7 shell) then cooler. Your getting somewhere atleast.
