@staringintotheabyss ah yes and how much exactly are your Irish? About 1/32 or something? I don't even know why you started trolling here, how many times have you seen the Pogues by now? It is obviously clear you either are really young and going through puberty or you have the intelligence of a chimp (no offence to chimps by the way)
@finneganslad bout 100% on both my da and ma's side. Left hook is my main claim to evidence though ;) Not trolling, everything I say here is authentic. 24, psych major. So you're wrong on all accounts lad. If you want another thrashing I'll be here.
I was there at the Pinkpop festival in 1995. Still one of the saddest and embarrassing performances in the 41 years of the festival. The first and last time I saw a musician be pulled off the stage for being too drunk. There's nothing legendary about that. Playing brilliant shows is what could have made Shane legendary.
It's hard to believe that this drunk bum is the man who wrote 'Thousands are Sailing'.
Later that day he said on TV that he was doing an Ian Curtis impersonation by the way.
@finneganslad Haha, that makes it even worse. First Shane's performance at Pinkpop made me completely ignore his music for 13 or 14 years. And then my favorite song by the band, which I thought was written by Shane, is the work of a genius bandmate :)
@dudeacus i think its cool as fuck, he dont have to do anything more, hes already made his mark in the history book... he can just kick back and ride the wave :)
He looks really pale, almost in shock. This is not Shane too drunk to sing, hell on a good day Shane will be drunk. He's genuinely ill here; don't mock the man for being human, even alcoholics can get sick.
im not mocking him, im a massive fan i love him. But seriously, he shouldn't even have been on stage here, people must have paid good money to see this show.
People who say he shouldn't have been on that stage, are wrong in my opinion. He should have been there, he just shouldn't have been wasted... The man has a responsibillity.
@peacefrog1916 Wouldn't have made a difference for the people if he hadn't played. It was at a festival so it would be or a gap, or a drunk shane Macgowan
@Chalkyevilgoth were you at the royal albert hall booing dylan when he started playing electric guitat aswell? you cant say you love someone and call them an embarrasment in the same sentence...this IS Shane Macgowan...legend :)
@peacefrog1916 i dont think the crowd minded, there wasnt a riot, if they came there to see Shane i would say it was money well spent, a unique moment, if they were real fans they would just loved it. fuckin wish i was there just to be under the same sky as the man :)
Poor Shane, seriosly :(

That's right! I paid a lot of money too.
And if i were in The Popes, and playing with him, i would have kicked his ass.

mogoklu, you're absolutely right. I would be seriously pissed with MacGowan if I was any member of the popes.

Wait a minute, if it wasn't for MacGowan The Popes would still be playing in fucking pubs and wedding, not at festivals.
However I agree that its so sad to see Shane in this way.
