  • this made me cry!

  • always cry like a little girl when I see this

  • I admit I cried at the scene where wesley packed away her rabbit.the one thing she called out for while delirious but couldn't remember. still gets me.genius show.

  • When I first saw this I cried like a little girl... Actually I still cry like a little girl when I see this.

  • so sad.....I still cry everytime I watch this part of the episode.

  • I cried when i watched this clip.. Lol, i still do. I cant believe they killed fred! I loved fred!

  • Angel really deserved another season (or even two) I hate the fact that "Soaps" run for decades and great shows like this have the rug pulled out from under them.

  • i agree Angel and buffy are amazing shows i love them ive seen ever esipode of Angel but only buffy 1-5

  • Just got to this part once again.. and wanted to share this with my friend. Thanks for posting it. :)

Gotta love how this show represents emotions..

  • This brought a tear to my eye. The song makes it!

  • It really hit me when Spike and Angel were sad. Angel's the broody type but it was another type of sadness. Spike's just always antagonistic and never seems to show any sad emotions.

  • The best song I have ever heard..:

  • I love this song, the first time i heard it was watching this episode of angel, almost had me crying. absolutely beautiful!!!

  • Rumour has it this was decided once they knew Angel was cancelled, otherwise 'Fresley' might have developed fully first to make it even more heartbreaking for him to lose her. Nice that she died without Amy Acker getting sacked. Cordy had to go to make room for James Marsters, who'd wanted to be in Angel since he guested in In The Dark.

The driving away tearjerker flashback device is from Silkwood: Meryl Streep drives away all happy from Patrick Swayze after her character's been killed.

  • this might be one of the saddest moments in the entire series. I cried so much.

  • Me too!!!!! I bawled like mad when they showed Fred leaving in her car.

  • I sobbed hysterically at the end of this episode. The music is so perfect. =P I'm just a sap.

  • it tweaked the tears bags behind my eyes. lol i love the song too.

  • What's the song in this?

  • a place called home by kim richey

  • this makes me cry

  • A realy good episode, just so sad. I realy like Fred. Oh i miss the Show "Angel" realy!!!

  • i was just watching the episode shells the other day. it was so sad, it made me cry. FRED =( and it also sucks like just after her and wes get together she dies.

  • It's whedon. He HATES happiness. (re: Angel, Buffy, Firefly, Serinity, Astonishing X-men) but, read the comics, Ilyeria is all schizo and becoming fred, and wes is a ghost!!

  • really? cool thanks. i gotta get those comics!

  • It's called, Angel after the fall, it's on like issue 11 now, idb is realeasing them, and joss is the creative force behind them, get tehm, there are some BIG things going down in LA

  • cool, thanks for the tip.

  • I wouldn't say that the wonderful Mr Whedon hates happiness. I think it's more that drama needs the odd tragedy to keep the audience involved. If everyone's happy then there's no story.

Example: Angel's shaky hold on his soul? Willow has so much power she could fix that glitch anytime, and why re-include that clause when repeating the curse anyway? And while we're at it, she could just re-ensoul all the vampires in the world.

  • I've also fallen for this ending! So touching and lovely, filled with emothins. Love it

  • Beautiful indeed. As said, the last shot of Acker driving really touches, god does she perform outstanding- Just look at her eyes. I also love the shot of Illyria right before the Fred-flashbacks. Happy for Amy though, that she got to really show her "strong & sexy" side before the show ended.

  • the best show to ever come out on tv.

  • So sad. Made me all teary eyed. Poor Fred. =( And all the others for the grief they have to go through. Stupid Nox!

  • The moment when Wes is packing the Fred's stuff ,it's so sad...

  • everytime i watch this i feel so bad for wes :(

  • The last shot of Amy Acker driving towards LA gets me everytime. What a beautifully crafted montage at the end. The producers did a fantastic job, and don't even get me started on "A Place Called Home" which is beautifully touching.

I feel so bad for Wes. :(

  • I know! It makes me cry SOOOOO much!!!!

I was happy when Wes shot Nox, he totally got what he deserved!

The only other scenes in Angel that made me cry as much were when Doyle, Cordy, and Wes died (*SOB*)!

  • Just brutal...probably more brutal than the finale.

  • it was sad when doyle died as well

  • who is the artist that plays this song? and yes, this episode ending was very dramatic. my g/f makes so much fun of me for liking this shit, but hell, i like what i like, lol.

  • LOL my boyfriend dose them same thing

  • The artist's name is Kim Richey.

  • This montage made me bawl. i still get teary thinking about it.

  • This was like one of the few scenes they actually used a real song for the montage, and it was real touching.Amy Acker looks hot as illyria though, and i was so close to crying after a long time from that

  • the first time i watched this i started too cry , this makes me so sad i miss fred its unfair how cordy and fred both have to die . But i still like to watch this!!!! A+ 10/10

  • This is one of the Saddest moments in the Buffyverse! I cry everytime I watch it! Fred!

    Buffy and Angel Forever!!!!!

  • Fred didn't die that way..as you put it. She died, but she died happy, with a true friend. Wes, with all his flaws, was the best one to be there with her. Protector, Friend and Lover. Hate to say it, but I wish we could all be so lucky. The rest couldn't portect her, but Wes did.

  • I felt really bad for Fred in this season. She was my favorite in the Angel series. I dont think she should have died. She was just examining The tomb or whatever it was. She shouldnt have died that way. I have all the Angel series. It rocks.

  • I seriously think that they didn't need to make her soul get destroyed. Atleast let us know that she's happily in heaven!

This episode really hits me hard, only cause everything that was fred was destroyed in illyira's awakening.

That is kinda stupid to me.

    But wirters were brilliant...

  • Fred's soul needed to be destroyed to prove she wasn't coming back. Otherwise it would be expected that the characters would be able to get Willow to raise Fred from the dead (like what was done with Buffy), or that Fred could come back as a ghost, like Spike, or that she could come back to life temporarily, like Cordelia, etc.

Destroying her soul signaled two things: 1. Fred was dead forever. No cop-outs. 2. This is serious; the consequences are real and permanent.

  • Good point about blocking the loopholes and it being permanent, just as with Doyle (which gave Cordy and Angel a non-Sunnydale/non-Buffy-related shared history), but I think they made a mistake: one of them asks one evil guy just once, he says her soul was burned up... and everyone just believes that and accepts it! Usually, when someone says 'it can't be done, there's no way' then the heroes say "We'll FIND a way."

  • LOOVE this song!! used it a video about my brother :) HUGE ANGEL-FAN!!! <3

  • i love this song, this episode was so sad, it was the letting go of fred, we knew fred was not coming back. Man i miss this show so much, they dont run these type of shows anymore.

  • Yeah. This is the Emotional ending of Angel episode 'Shells'. I really love this episode and will always love it. I almost cried the first time I saw this, it was just so sad that Fred died

btw? did anyone notice that like all women in Angel die? xS

  • this clip and song make me cry every time once i got asked why i watch it. i said i unno just feels good to cry sometimes.

  • This episode makes me cry + i will miss Fred GOODBYE FRED

  • this episode and the one before it made me cry!!!!! =[[ it was so sad

  • bellissimo!!

  • One of the highlight moments of Angel. This song put me onto Kim Richey who sings this. Moments like these are what make shows like this, Buffy and Firefly more then just good, and into great. The sad reminder that not all heroes live, that those least deserving are taken from us by monsters, gives Joss Whedon's shows a sense of weight that you don't often find on t.v.

    ~ James

  • that's so deep...

  • Not really. I just enjoy shows where every once in a while the heroes actually don't make it. So many shows have the hero's come through every danger unscathed. Buffy and Angel and Firefly at least had some characters perish in the line of duty, just like you would expect.

  • I know exactly what you mean. The losses bring a reality to it- I mean Good doesn't always triumph and episodes like this really send that home. And this scene is just one of the saddest on Angel. I loved Fred and when she died in Wes' arms...I cried my eyes out

  • i want to cry, somebody hold me

  • Its ok *HUG*

  • I love the song and adore the episode! So sad but so beautiful! One of my favorites from Ats!

  • `favorite
