  • I was there! this was at the Tube and we partly went to see Half Man Half Biscuit who as Muriel explained decided to go watch Tranmere instead. Upside was that I got into ACR :o)

  • A Class !!

  • the only bass player that rocks as good as bernard edwards 4 22 onwards

  • Factory's best

  • Wow! Goddamn!

  • How were these guys not more famous!?

  • @MisterDensity I KNOW RIGHT!?!? This is badass!

  • +.acr sono la piu grande white fun ky band degli anni 80'

donald johnson e stato uno dei migliori batteristi-bassisti di quel periodo,

  • Incredible Groove,Brit Funk?!

  • The Old and the New, such an amazing album, up there with My Life in the Bush of Ghosts et al. Aint nothing quite like em. Totally original

  • It's pure quality.

I have it in one of the cassette box sets. Wish it was on CD also.

  • is that revolution or here i come playing faintly at the very start of the video?

  • ACR were(& still are)the dogs danglers ... RIP Tony Wilson ... still to this day really miss Factory, especially 51. Wild Partee ... ooh the memories ... thanks for the upload Dude !

  • What's this riot they have caused in New York?

  • Let's go out and cause some more

  • Tunnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnne .... Man that gives me NOSTALGIA Trips

  • thanks x1000. this was all i'd ever heard by them and you've just sent me back in time to my teens. awesome. eternally greatful.

  • by the way, paula yates is hilarious!!!

  • uhm ehr...so in the 24 hour party people movie, Tony Wilson / Steve Coogan says that A Certain Ratio was Joy Division, but better dressed...

what on the heart was he talking about?

    brilliant video and performance tho

  • I suppose in the 80's, in Northern England, for a few hours, shorts were really all the rage - Bernard Sumner is also wearing some really short ones in an early New Order video, while going to a club (!)in NY...

  • I'm so living in the past watching all these old Manchester videos.

    I remember this so well...reply I think.

  • long nose.pay respect to godevil.

  • grab my funk.or dont.

  • They certainly have a new fan here. They remind me of bands like Chic, DDuran, and maybe Prince. I love the snapping and popping the second guy does. The synthesizers enrich the sound too. Im going to find some of their music and order it.

    Great post.

  • a certain ratio were one of the best white funk bands to come out of england during the 80s. all their albums are great, pick up "the old and the new" and "force" (check out "mickey way")..fucking brilliant!!!

  • Candy Bar :)

  • This is the most 80's-ist 80's musici have ever heard. Aren't all the kids today trying to emulate this sound, but of course failing?(example the band called "!!!")

  • Sorry about the typo: It does not look like Andy Connell on key board in this video. Is it?

  • Yes I think it is Andy Connell!

  • It dose not look like Andy on KB? Is it?

  • Absolutely brill!! Saw this on the tube ..I must have seen ACR bout 20 times live and as always a top live performance

  • Man this is absolutely fantastic. One thing I want to know is: what was the band's keyboard rig? Looks like a JP8 but it's not used in this song. How the hell did they get that great percussion? (aside from the bass and drums) Anyone know what synths they had in their setup?

  • Proof if proof were needed. ACR were/are simply the best funk band in the UK. Get in!

  • This is footage from probably the best music programme to come out of the UK; The Tube (no longer around). The woman who introduces them is Muriel Gray. However the main hosts were Jools Holland and the late Paula Yates, who was married to Bob Geldof, but left him for the late Michael Hutchence of INXS. Donald Johnson's drumming never fails to amaze me, love this group.

  • Wow, very rare. Like this very much. Fantastico!

  • yay Andy is in the band. this is a great chance to see that Donald is a funkier bass player than Jez as well.

  • i organized them in belgium same period a bit mellow though bur great guyszz!

  • Thx so much for this!

  • 'kin belter, cheers mate !

  • greatzazz
