I was there! this was at the Tube and we partly went to see Half Man Half Biscuit who as Muriel explained decided to go watch Tranmere instead. Upside was that I got into ACR :o)
ACR were(& still are)the dogs danglers ... RIP Tony Wilson ... still to this day really miss Factory, especially 51. Wild Partee ... ooh the memories ... thanks for the upload Dude !
I suppose in the 80's, in Northern England, for a few hours, shorts were really all the rage - Bernard Sumner is also wearing some really short ones in an early New Order video, while going to a club (!)in NY...
They certainly have a new fan here. They remind me of bands like Chic, DDuran, and maybe Prince. I love the snapping and popping the second guy does. The synthesizers enrich the sound too. Im going to find some of their music and order it.
a certain ratio were one of the best white funk bands to come out of england during the 80s. all their albums are great, pick up "the old and the new" and "force" (check out "mickey way")..fucking brilliant!!!
This is the most 80's-ist 80's musici have ever heard. Aren't all the kids today trying to emulate this sound, but of course failing?(example the band called "!!!")
Man this is absolutely fantastic. One thing I want to know is: what was the band's keyboard rig? Looks like a JP8 but it's not used in this song. How the hell did they get that great percussion? (aside from the bass and drums) Anyone know what synths they had in their setup?
This is footage from probably the best music programme to come out of the UK; The Tube (no longer around). The woman who introduces them is Muriel Gray. However the main hosts were Jools Holland and the late Paula Yates, who was married to Bob Geldof, but left him for the late Michael Hutchence of INXS. Donald Johnson's drumming never fails to amaze me, love this group.
Jez Kerr's new solo stuff is great as well. Check out Play Sumthing Fast. Class.
