I have ten microtech knives. Most OTF knives are junk. microtech makes garbage, try stabbing a piece of wood with that, it'll fucking break in about 5 seconds. buy a dalton.
The knife is not named for a video game, it's the other way around.
HALO stands for High Altitude Low Opening, a type of special Ops paratrooper manuver to avoid being seen hanging in a chute, knives and other equipment of high quality has been labeled HALO for years and years before the video game name was first copyrighted.
i like micro tech knives just wish they had a loop to put your finger through or a more defined grip im always afraid my hand will slip and boom cut my fingers off
@saltycupcakes are you sure its illegal in canada? i asked the rcmp and did some research and could not fined anywhere stating its illegal to own an otf knife please clarify if i am wrong
I live in California and you can not carry an auto knife with over a 2" blade. I carry an Emerson CQC7 with the wave. I can deploy it out of pocket faster than any auto and it's legal to carry in California. Plus it costs much less than the Halo. I'm not knocking the Halo because it's such a beautiful weapon.
A little over priced knife. Get a KA-BAR military fighting knife. Size small or large. This KA-BAR is a good to use if you get attacked by a chip monkey or pit bull dog. I hate evil monkies! Monkies have ripped the faces off two or three people in the U.S.A. Sad fact.
@DevastatorKnight M16? you do know you cant buy an m16 at a gun shop. but you can buy the predesecor (sorry for spelleing errors) AR15 which is an m16 just semi auto. and in a different caliber. m16's are illegal to buy and use unless your in the armed forces. plus me ide just use a .45 colt revolver.
@Cloakedsphere M16 is just the military's designation for the AR15. Both are the same caliber. Except that NATO ammunition specifications allow for higher pressures. From what I have read there are some AR's that can handle NATO spec rounds. According to wikipedia the ruger mini-14 can handle NATO rounds as well. As for the M16 being full auto, it's my understanding that currently it's semi auto and 3 round burst. For full auto they have the M249 light machine gun
Oh god I love this knife. Got my hands on one a couple of months back, and it has to be THE tightest knife I have ever used in my life. Once that thing is locked it does not move... An amazing piece on equipment; you're lucky to have one.
@sammartin2894 glad you liked it. i wish it was a better video. btw i dont have this knife anymore, i do have the halo 2 and a makora still though by microtech.
i was about to ask how this related to halo at all but then i read that its actually apart of the brand. I may play halo but i'm not retarded, do the research before you leave dumb comments
you have to push the same button that you use to fire the blade out, and you have to pull the end of the handle, it has a grip to to pull it back into the knife. once the blade is pulled all the way back into the knife, thats it. the blade is concealed till you push the button to fire the blade out the front. hope that answers your question.
u can see it the video at about 20 seconds, how the the end of the handle is pulled out, thats when the blade is completely retracted, and then you just push the end back inside the knife, it just slides right in, and thats it. I couldnt show me acutally pulling the knife out, cause i was holding my camera phone while doing that part.
That's a pretty beast knife. I want one! I really doubt they are illegal in Virginia. Virginia hardly ever outlaws any of that kind of crap... or at least it doesn't seem like they do, by the way I see people walking around showing off all these fancy knives and such. :3
I'm pretty sure California doesn't allow you to buy any automatic knives, unless maybe you are in the military. I DO know that California doesn't allow any shurikens or the like, so I wouldn't be surprised.
@DXTC4real because hes glad he doesn't live in California? last time i checked California has crime too. I live down the road from DevastatorKnight and we generally don't get mugged when we leave the house.
@DevastatorKnight Actually california state law allows people to carry folding knives as long as it is completely concealed and it qualifies as a folding knife which means no gravity, switch or butterfly's. You are not allowed to carry them on you in any state or federal building. Cops will still give you a lot of shit about having it but technically speaking folding blades are legal to carry in california. Unfortunately the Halo is not legal to carry.
@ph34rmaster04 u can buy a 3 or less inch knife in cali and it cannot lock...sooo maybe a freakin 10$ spiderco bug series lmfao, i.e grasshoper lady bug etc
I used one in Iraq for just an every day knife. It started to be just a pain in the ass having to cock it every time. Not to say it isn't a very solid, well built and high quality knife.
i have sold dozens of mts on an old site called blade auction.these knives are a novelty,a paper plate at best for a plunge test, anyone can open a benchmade axix lock faster and close it 2 times before you can pull the charge handle on a mt halo.its no wonder there all but done.
what happens if you hold the knife against some one & release the blade, does the spring action hold enough pressure to pierce through flesh? its obviously sharp enough, maybe some one could set up a test to show the result( think mythbusters) the first thing that comes to my mind is a watermelon, ooohhh yeahhh a sweet juicy little watermelon, moist & firm, ready to be penetrated,oh sorry about that i, mm, i mmm,got a bit mmm excited, sorry but i've got to go now.........ooohhh,....oohhh,..ohhhhh
Microtech a piece of crap? What? One of the finest and precision quality blades ever made. I've got nothing against Cold Steel, if you are using the knife as an everyday carry blade. If you're a collector though you want to try to own at least one of every kind of model out there.
I'd take a cold shit over a cold steel knife anyday. Michrotech, Dalton, and Protech are the finest knife brands in the world, Cold Steel if for teenagers with a $20 allowence. Save your money and buy a good knife.

ur a fucking dumbass i have a microtech troodon and just because it cost alot doesn't make it the best, for my edc i use a $80 Kershaw Blur Tactical and im 26 and have a steady income and i can tell u Microtech is a waste of fucking money, and u say cold steel is bad u must be twice as dumb cold steel makes some of the best knives ever, so from someone who owns a microtech i say thier a waste of money and u are an idiot
do people say that you can't understand because you're under 18 often?... you're amusing... you said you were 26 on your other comment. you're obviously not paying attention to what you're writing. i got one suggestion for ya; when you're leaving comments, make sure they make sense before clicking on the post button.
ur a fucking dumbass i have a microtech troodon and just because it cost alot doesn't make it the best, for my edc i use a $80 Kershaw Blur Tactical and im 26 and have a steady income and i can tell u Microtech is a waste of fucking money, and u say cold steel is bad u must be twice as dumb cold steel makes some of the best knives ever, so from someone who owns a microtech i say thier a waste of money and u are an idiot
I dont cary my Michrotech as a edc, I always cary my Protech Godson ( $210 ), and it has nothing to do with the price of a knife. If I could buy a michrotech for $30 I would. Michrotech's are expensive because they are a fine pieces of machienery. Id rather have two or three high quality knives, than fifteen or twnety shitty knives. Just my personal oppinion.
u spent 210 $ on a knife that u beat up every day lol wow buy a kershaw or benchmade for ur edc i some times carry my cheap winchester knife was like 10 $ and it's very sturdy and sharp don't get me wrong i belive in u get what u pay for tho, but still it's alright u should try kershaw they make some good blades for good price
yeah i agree with you, I payed $20 on my winchester, and i'm satisfied, and i'd rather pay $20 for an average knife than a good $200+ on a microtech, or even roughly $100-$150 on a coldsteel...the extra $50 is for an agreeably better knife but only by a little...sort of the same concept as buying or not buying name brand cereal...now if i was a millionaire, i would definitely buy a microtech, since i would be rich...but i'm not a millionaire...
interesting that you would automatically know whether or not my knife is a pocket knife or not. It's a blade, it has a sheath, and it's roughly 6 inches in length. Don't go around assuming that it's a pocket knife, because when your wrong, you end up looking like an idiot...
So it's made of shit steel and probably isn't full tang, eh buddy? You're the idiot for buying a 20 dollar knife with 440A or a 5 dollar stainless blade. Enjoy having to sharpen it all the time. Also, when the blade breaks out of the handle because it's not full tang you're out $20 you could have gotten a good Ka-Bar for $20 more.
I guess it's a good knife if you don't use it and enjoy the quality of a China Cheapie.

ive never seen a knife like that.. where coul i get my hands on one of those? and what are the general prices?
prankankin 7 months ago
@prankankin
This is a Mircotech Halo, which runs in the 200-400 dollar range depending on what model you get.
These are top of the line tho, if you want cheaper look into Smith & Wesson OTF (Out The Front) Knives
they are 30-60 dollars, but are OK build quality for light use, or to use as a defensive weapon
I won't use ANY OTF knife for every day carry tho, even well made ones have small springs in them that get worn out with heavy use.
Hope I helped.

How is lying about your age a typo? Does it happen to you often?

Because the 1 and the 2 are pretty close together? Ever think he could press a 2 instead of a 1?

TheSwedishWolf 3 years ago
yeah i agree with you, I payed $20 on my winchester, and i'm satisfied, and i'd rather pay $20 for an average knife than a good $200+ on a microtech, or even roughly $100-$150 on a coldsteel...the extra $50 is for an agreeably better knife but only by a little...sort of the same concept as buying or not buying name brand cereal...now if i was a millionaire, i would definitely buy a microtech, since i would be rich...but i'm not a millionaire...

So when that piece of shit Winchester doesn't lock up and you go to cut something and it cuts your fingers off, then what?
How much are your fingers worth to you?
johnwilldoug777 3 years ago
interesting that you would automatically know whether or not my knife is a pocket knife or not. It's a blade, it has a sheath, and it's roughly 6 inches in length. Don't go around assuming that it's a pocket knife, because when your wrong, you end up looking like an idiot...
brandonbrues 3 years ago
So it's made of shit steel and probably isn't full tang, eh buddy? You're the idiot for buying a 20 dollar knife with 440A or a 5 dollar stainless blade. Enjoy having to sharpen it all the time. Also, when the blade breaks out of the handle because it's not full tang you're out $20 you could have gotten a good Ka-Bar for $20 more.
I guess it's a good knife if you don't use it and enjoy the quality of a China Cheapie.
johnwilldoug777 3 years ago
What does it matter if he would rather buy a winchester? Paying 200 bucks on a knife is a waste even if it i
