Just for fun, look at a the most current gen of prelude (97-01), a vehicle that was always criticized for being obese. Weighing in at approx 3042lb compared to the CRZ's 26-2700lb's . My old 91 civic h/b dual point injection 1.5sohc non vtec non hybrid used to run 0-60 just as fast or faster than a stock CRZ, and it would get 30-40 combined mpg. Maybe HOnda needs to look into the past a bit, before venturing too far into the future.

@jmac79ers I am a total fan of the 90's Hondas. My favorite was my '92 Prelude VTEC and I also had an original '88 CR-X. I agree with you, those were fun. I like the way the CR-Z looks, but yes it does need a bit more spunk. I test drove a manual version. That being said, it is impossible to bring back the light-weight 90s versions in a cost effective way. I guess you could use carbon fiber or lightweight aluminum, but that would raise the price of the car to an unattainable level.

all Honda people should love this car. I too am sadden by Honda's move to fuel efficiency as I love my '93 Civic Hatchback to death. I too love tuning my car and ik lots of people do too with their EXs, Si's and Type-Rs but I applaud Honda for what their doing. ive had a ep3 type R turbo, RX7 twin turbo efini imported from japan,, now i want either a toyota supra, nissan skyline, nissan silvia s15 or another RX7, but i was looking at the ones you have over your way and they suck... you guys get all the plain ugly lower end models of the jap cars... in the uk we get all the top models same as japan... but japan also have Mugens, or JDM models that are japan only.. but we got them imported alot because japan and uk are right hand drive ;-)

No it isn't a supercar but they made it actually have respectable performance unlike the current one and that's pretty awesome with the fuel economy that they claim. What other production car can manage 50 mpg and gets to 60 as fast as a type R? Oh yeah, none. They should have just made this instead of the freakin' one that's out right now IMO.
