  • great video

  • Haha These are somethjing else these are very good for handling all those cul de sacs I really liked filming here great trucks and great drivers Did you film any other trucks here ? And when you went there did you see the secret yard lol Awesome video !!!

  • @100Burrtec100 nah, we didnt go to the yard. Scott got a short bit of a curotto can but thats all. These were the only trucks we really intended to get on film from here. thanks! oh btw, do you have more of the starrs? your video said (Intro) so I didnt know if that meant you have more or not

  • @3amrepmike3 yeah i have a short couple of clips but im waiting untill i go back so i can make it all in one but recently i have been unable to truck hunt

  • now heres a truck im way jealous u guys got to see! hes workin that route like a pro! and that shot at 6:00 and 8:50 was a nice dump cant wait for more! :D how much longer do these trucks have?

  • @garbagekid1 thanks! No idea how much longer they will be here honestly. Probably not too much longer as they have several Peterbilt Ellipticals already in. Some Autocars will likely replace these though

  • I LIKE HOW THIN THE ARMS ARE LOOKS NICE AND SMOOTH

  • @FordF150Trucks THANKS

  • @3amrepmike3 always

  • The only complaints I've heard about STARR's are that they suck for recycling (which was the only commodity they've picked up for the past like 5+ years) and that the seats are cockeyed. OTHER THAN THAT... these things kick ass, especially in cul de sacs! Just hauls ass in those! Pretty cool ending for part one! And I absolutely adore the two-tone sound to the alarm, sounds antique, if you will. Oh yea, and I cannot wait for part two seeing how great a job this video was!

  • @legodude24652 thanks bro, yea theyre not the best for recycling if you have 90 gals. If you have 60s and 30 only then great. But for trash they pack it away effortlessly. Might be some time before part 2 as I have a lot of other parts 2s that need to get up.

  • Oh hey! I remember these from my early childhood! I remeber the purple ones! I loved those!

  • Wow! That's quite a gem you've got there, Mike! Lid flipping, easy cul-de-sac collection, and the pure sound of the truck! Absolutely adore this truck. It reminds me of a big rig when it turns. 6:07 was epic...all I can say to that is wow. lol and those guys on the roof with the lights. Just noticed those Volvo mudflaps, too. Pretty nice addition to an already nice-looking truck. Awesome footage!

  • AWESOME, AWESOME!! lol I've been around these machines for quite some time and yes very efficient when it comes to U-turns and cul-de-sacs. Especially in this video at 5:57. Pretty incredible to say the least. This driver seems to know this Starr very well. Another plus to mention about the starr is the 33 YD or 37 YD bodies being able to compact more refuse. amazed the alarm is still workin on this thing too as on ours they are all gone. Also noticed the Volvo mudflaps still in good shape.

  • LOVE that truck, although that squeal was driving me crazy!!!!!

Wow what a unique angle at 6:09 to pick up a cart

Wow great lid flip at 7:24,

I always liked the heil starr grippers, they always seemed very interesting to me

In all I love this truck!!! its cool how the truck can just blow right through cul-ti-sacs.

Every shot in this video was great I enjoyed every second of it. Did Heil discontinue the Heil Starr?

    LIKE and FAV

  • @TheTrashman97 Thanks! No, heil still makes the Starr. These are some of my favorite trucks to watch too. Very interesting, far more interesting to watch in person though, thats for sure! The belt squeal is alright, but i prefer it not be there in the video anyway

  • omg another great video 1,000 stars

  • Awesome Mike! Nice to see USA trucks still out there. Very nice to see the bin variations in Chino. It's really funny how the truck says CA 1243 on the cab twice. What other trucks does Chino have? I know there is the Isuzu Mini Amrep there. Great job. Fav and like FOR SURE!

  • @WMmaster626 The CA1243 is on all trucks in SoCal. They have curottos and pete and autocar amreps. The cart variety is much better in other parts of the city, but theres a few good ones around here too. thanks

  • @3amrepmike3 really? The trucks in my district say CA 38890 or something like that. And I wonder what their Pete RRs look like. Loving that bin at 0:53 too as well as the USA Waste of California sign on the truck. Great vid again mike

  • Ok so I have totally given up trying to keep up with you :) This is a great catch, it's awesome to see they are still using it. Jesus, it takes those cul de sacs with ease! Thanks for posting and can't wait to see what you have coming up next

  • @r6man2 hahahah thanks! Yea, these are good trucks, and a lot of fun to watch too!

  • ive seen least 4 of those at burrtec's transfer see them almost every day

  • @staintedcards Driver said they only have 3. Seeing as he kinda drives them, I think he knows what hes talking about. If you do see 4, take a picture of them

  • Nice! Soo cool, it even has those weird old grippers too!! Love this truck!

  • Ew someone has a Blackberry at 7:13, should've thrown it right in the hopper. Nice truck though, I'd like to operate one some day!

  • @KFCOrBust I was about too. It was free to me. damn good thing. scroll ball only works to scroll to the left, it wont go into silent mode and the V button only works if i push it hard at a 45 degree angle which is a royal pain in the ass. Yea, if you have your class A then you could :D They seem like they could be a lot of fun to drive though. Seeing a its basically like driving a truck with a 10 foot wheel base haha

  • This truck is so cool to see, plus it still sounds great. About how much can you fit in one of these Starrs? How old is this truck?

  • @Mike3141981 Im not sure how well these pack, but they have a longer body than RRs do. This truck, being a volvo would mean its anywhere from mid to late 90 or early early 2000s. But I would guess its around 97

  • Awesome video man! is WM still giving out the Otto's ?

  • @lawnboy1010 nahh, they went back to Rehrig already. These ottos are scattered all over the cities though so there no shortage of them at least. Hopefully it was a trial thing for a future full scale purchase. unlikely but hopefully. thanks!

  • awesome! After seeing all of those Phoenix Starrs this truck seems so fast! These would work so well in San Jose since like half of it's cul de sacs, and few cars parked on them! This truck is in quite good condition considering its age. Also any particular reason why the arm bends toward the body when lifting?

  • @WasteManTony Yea, sounds nicer with the revving too :D well if the arm didnt tilt, it wouldnt dump the trash in the hopper. because the body is a trailer they have to mount the arm farther than normal from the hopper so having the arm tilt is the only practical way to have it reach the hopper

  • @WasteManTony Articulated ASL is what the term is!!

  • Nice video when was this filmed

  • @TheKevinA1998 says in description when it was filmed. a few days before christmas.

  • Nice!! This is a beast!!

  • @internationalRLfan sure is! thanks!

  • Not as rare as the Heil MultiPack. my hometown of Beachwood, OH has five MultiPacks

  • @ScarletandGrey4ever check out my channel you'll see on of the five MultiPacks that Beachwood, OH operates

  • @ScarletandGrey4ever I know heil starrs arent rare at all actually. The only reason I was excited to see this truck is that its one of the last old USA waste trucks. WM bought them out and got rid of almost all their old trucks years ago. To my knowledge, nobody in California uses to Multipack, because almost nobody uses rear loaders to start with lol

  • @3amrepmike3 i know i have family in San Diego, the only use rear loaders in down town area wher front loaders can't access the dumpsters so they use rear loaders instead. most of the trucks the are in my family's area mostly ASL or MSL. and my cousin live in a development in del mar with very tight cul-de-sacs and cars parked on the street on boths side they have, WM i think could be a smaller local company, have smaller wayne RLs.

  • @3amrepmike3 nah dude USA Waste took over WM but keep the WM name & keep the USA Waste colors (wich is how WM became green)

  • @AlliedWaste76 I know, but its too confusing to everyone else as to why its WM not USA when USA bought WM so to keep it simple, WM bought them is what I say. But almost all the USA trucks were gotten rid of shortly after.

  • @3amrepmike3 yeah thats very true some people say ''huh'' lol but its all good, damn that sucks we still have about 5 or 6 Ex USA Waste trucks its very hard to tell the diffrence though ;)

  • Yeah sure am glad this truck finally got "found" that day :D Things that I like about this truck: lid flipping, exhaust pipe routing (best seen at 7:28), oldest type RR arm that's also painted nicely green, and I still thought the belt screeching was somewhat cool. Deep noise of the engine is awesome too, but that's better "felt" in person than it can be on videos. Also your positioning for the entire shot covering 6:02 (and the stop after it even) was in fact amazing. Whoa looks short at 7:42!

  • @Trashman242 yea, all those things added up make for an awesome truck. I like the belt squeal, but not all the time. The high pitch noise it makes takes away from the deep sound on video. In person its fine as theres no lack of deep roars and ground rumbling there. See me start walking to my left just before the collection at 6:00? I saw that coming and had to get in for the shot :D pretty proud of that shot! cant wait to see your angle of that collection also

  • @6:03 BEST FUCKING SHOT EVERRRR

  • EPIC EPIC VIDEO! yess they are using ottos now!!!

  • @garbageboy2009 Were* using otto. already made the dreaded switch back. I guess it was just a test thing. Rehrigs local. Ottos not. only motive for switching back that I can see. Yea, the shot at 6:03 that you mentioned is likely my favorite part of the whole video! And the best part is Scott got it from the curb side so you'll see that same shot, two angles :D haha thanks for watching

  • @3amrepmike3 Yeah, I'm not really sure what they used. I think they had a few Pete and Volvo Amrep msls. I'll ask the driver next time and see what he knows. Not many places got tubs. I have a pic of a buckhorn one but they also used a-1 like what you can buy at sears. I'll get some old historical pics from here and make a slideshow.

  • FUCK YEAH USE WASTE SERVICES FTW thanks alot Mike for posting this dude this is going to be a fav for sure bro love how they handle them cul-de-sac damn i wish it had the U logo it would look so epic with that regardless this truck is BEAST liked and faved!!

  • @AlliedWaste76 Theres a part 2 still to come ;)

  • Well this is certainly the way I want to start watching videos on here!! This is a hella nice truck man! I wonder what USA used up here? Doubt it was heil starrs. We still have old tubs from USA floating around up here along with the few carts. I like how this truck has the occasional lid flip. Kinda nice to see. Makes it more fun!! Again, fabulous video! Hit some nice history here!

  • @CurottoCanMaster82 thanks, yea, not sure what they used. All I know is they were fond of both Volvo and the Peterbilt 310. And seemingly liked Heil, or so they did here. We have USA carts EVERYWHERE. Mostly toters, some Ottos though. I have never seen a crate from them down here though. I would guess they used 310s with a recycler body. Theres a few old USA trucks here (parts trucks) with that configuration. Forgot the body MFG though
