I play bass and I have been in bands where I was a WAY better guitar player than the one in the band. It's more about "playing the part". When you play bass in a band, you are not hired to be the soloist. There may be parts where you can play a little solo or something, but you play in the background for the most part. A bass player that doesnt' get this should not be playing bass.

unique my ass the guy isnt untalented or anything but it literally looks like he was bored picked up a bass put it through guitar distortion(eating up all the bottom end) and then just thought, hey it has two less strings it has to be easier to play.

Wow, I can't believe how stupid the bulk of the comments are for this video. Obviously most of these people aren't "musicians", even if they own a bass and even if they are more technically proficient at playing it than this guy (who sounds like he can play judging from the video). To all you shmucks saying how this guy can't play, or plays like a guitarist.. get a life. BTW... I own a Steinberger XP-2 that looks identical to the one this guy is playing... and it's an incredible instrument.

Headless basses aren't for fags. One of the best bassists in the world plays one. And if they don't suck than picks can and will sound bad ass. I use a pick sometimes cuz my fingers start to hurt, or just because I want to. and it's fun.

Because to anyone who plays bass, calling that "bass" is just incorrect.
Bass = Guitar + Percussion
It is the mainstream instrument that rhythmically and melodically ties music together, gives it soul.
Important to note that this dudes riffs lacked any sense of timing, beat or rhythm, decent though it was.
look up victor wooten, now that's bass playing.
