  • Sorry, I don't know remember the name, but I will ask around. I'm almost sure it's not traditional but composed by one of the teachers to let the students get used to playing in minor keys. I'll get back with more.

  • otroligt vackert. borde ta och lära mig spela nyckelharpan som min far äger.

  • Very lovely music & film. Hurrah!

  • I really like this video. Pictures and music is great and the conversation is cool!

  • swedish culture is wonderful. i'm studying at Uppsala Uni. right now but there're not so many trees and stuff like that there.

  • Oh yes, this is the Swedish summers i want to enjoy.

  • Det var fint. Och häftigt!

  • "I believe it should be translated as "It´s only to beat on" meaning something like "you have to keep up the beat"" might it actually mean it is something to

hit or beat? there are often jokes made about banjo

or bodhran or accordion players that include comments about destroying the instrument in some way, such as throwing in a dumpster (garbage can) I hope there are never jokes like this about out dear nyckelharpa!!

  • Well, I'm not that sure you're on the right track with "beat". "Klå" literaly means "scratch" and refers in this case to the scratching sound of the bow being pressed against the strings for example when starting off a tune or putting emphasis on any part of it.

But in fact what the man i question (famous NH-player Leif Alpsjö) really meant was something like "the more you play, the better you get"

-Thanks for all your kind comments!

  • Hur kommer det sig att Norduppland är det vackraste stället på jorden? Helt otroligt vackert!

  • Excellent, made me want to get on a plane right now

  • I am a nyckelharpa player in California, and member of American Nyckelharpa Association. nyckelharpa dot org. I went to Österbybruk Nyckelharpa stemma in 2003 and toured Sweden in 2005 with 3 other musicians. I love the "keyed fiddle grip" credit...what does that last voice say?

  • "De´e´ bare å klå på" Old dialect expression that is hard even for me as a swede to understand. I belive it should be translated as "It´s only to beat on" meaning something like "you have to keep up the beat"

  • Keep it up !

  • What a lovely clip!

  • Bravo!!

  • A well made clip! Thank-you for posting it.
