Bret was the better performer in this match. Shawn is probably the best faller of all-time, but Bret is the best wrestler. It made for a great match. Ask yourselves guys, doesn't is seem kind of disturbing to watch Bret get kicked and pinned? That's because it was the wrong decision to have Shawn win. Bret had 5 years of sustained popularity, and people got sick of Shawn by the end of his first reign. Who was better?

Its funny that Shawn was giving tons of time off before this match to train like a mad mand and be in incredible shape while Bret on the other hand was doing more bookings and European tours and yet Bret was the one dragging Shawn up off the mat near the end of this match.

it's a goddamn shame that these two guys could never get along. they had such dynamic chemistry inside the ring and were a terrific contrast in styles to watch. hbk had that great high flying, almost lucha libre-like wrestling ability while the hitman basically pioneered that canadian submission that was seen in wrestlers like Y2J and benoit.

and both had tremendous charisma on the mic too. i think hbk was a little bit better though on the mic at least. equals in the ring though

I know they have kinda buried the hatchet so to speak but if they had just put their massive egos aside for the good of the business this could have been the greatest rivalry in the history of wrestling. Two matches were all we got outta them but damn those two matches will always be remembered for years and years to come.

I have to agree, since Bret has a legit tough man background, was tought to wrestle by not only his father, a shooter, but also two other shooters. He was also champion ameature wrestler. HBK, well unfortuntley unless he was drunk or high, he couldn't handle Bret legit.
