Prior to dismount, I saw the police officers being kidnapped, as they were on a public thoroughfare when a large group of people stopped them from being able to move in their own accord, potentially not allowing them to leave freely as well. Certainly there have been incidents of police brutality, but I believe a good argument can be made for the police in this video. This could probably have been avoided if the protestors simply stepped aside (or stood where they were instead of grouping together) and allowed the bikes through to the others side of the protest...
Looks to me like the cops were trying to push through the crowd in an attempt to find people who would incite disorderly or violent behavior. Notice that they weren't clubbing anyone until a line of protestors deliberately blocked them. Only after being stopped by protestors did they dismount and start swinging, and most of that looks to be to create a safe area for them to arrest instigators. Feel free to protest but please don't chant, it looks so stupid no matter the issue...

At first glance seems like those police officers seemed afraid of the protesters, and they responded with violence. But, a closer view reveals the goons they are beating and shoveling the protesters just for the sake of it. On the other hand, I was making fun of kids who taunt police with anarchist like behavior and cry when the police don't put up with it. The police were merely doing their job of keeping peace and order. Some of these kids could do something stupid as the video proves. Never said anything about violence=beauty.

I wouldn't be nervous about these protests and agree with the idea that there is a lot of corruption in business. However, in 1963, a United States Supreme Court case dictated no prayer in public schools and set a precedent. Now under the "establishment clause" of the First Amendment, our gov't is petitioning the Supreme Court to allow them to dictate who can be a priest. I am sorry Mr. Holder, but what about the freedom clause that follows after it. Be careful what you wish for!

Certainly there have been incidents of police brutality, but I believe a good argument can be made for the police in this video. Looks to me like the cops were trying to push through the crowd in an attempt to find people who would incite disorderly or violent behavior. Notice that they weren't clubbing anyone until a line of protestors deliberately blocked them. Only after being stopped by protestors did they dismount and start swinging, and most of that looks to be to create a safe area for them to arrest instigators. Feel free to protest but please don't chant, it looks so stupid no matter the issue...

hhmm i seem to see things being throw? i seem to hear people screaming there fucking heads off and getting in the way of fucking cops who are trying to do their jobs. why is it that the tea party can hold a perfectly fine non interrupting rally and be called monsters racists and thugs while left wing nut jobs can run up and down the street screaming their head off throwing stuff, and mess with cops but still be reported as the good guys.

Fuck these bastards. They deserve what they got. It would be nice if all of those people in the street would actually do something rather than march around and bitch and scream, and waste the NYPDs time. I'd beat the fuck out of these idiots too if I were them. The amount of stress and pressure the protesters put on them is immense. Just because they're peaceful protests doesn't mean someone isn't going to hurt an officer. Also, If they need through, you have to move. Even if it's blocked off.

its clear now occupytheplanet. Your a cop hater and you have no interest in the occupation. Police are part of the 99% remember that. And when one tells me to move onto the sidewalk I do it. Because one time I didnt and a judge not the cop made me pay a 300 fine and every time I fill out an application I have to explain why I have been arrested and most employers do not like the fact that I have a problem with taking direction.....

@MsRogerjolly I totally understand your sentiment. I am not a cop hater. They are very needed, understand thought even in THIS situation things are not what they seem. I have been on the ground in many of these situations, they are indefinetly the 99% and should remember WE are with them, not just US remembering we are with them? It is NOT one sided, it is not US Vs. Them, it is DISCIPLINED policing helping keep order at a protest. That is it. Not throwing people, beating, pepper spraying etc.
