  • Hi,what lighting do you have?I'd like to know as i want to grow some HC myself.

  • How do you supplement your CO2?

  • wow

  • paradise!!!

  • How long did it take what plant is that

  • just beuatyfull...

  • here you can not hold armored catfish because catfish need to dig sand that is otherwise not appropriate to the species! So instead of sandy soil planted if you want to maintain armored catfish!

  • is that a cave at 1:24?? amazing!

  • does the HC require co2? or a lot of light?

  • if there are Neon fish !! the aquarium is more beautiful :D o0o

  • How?

  • what da......

  • has un video tutorial como hacerlo asi te quedo bien padre

  • asome nice work make a video turoria for that kind of acuarium it realy good

  • How fast does H. callitrichoides grow?

  • Arg, I wish I could create such a beautiful tank as this! Great inspiration!

  • I absolutely love this tank.. must be so peaceful looking in.. the fish really look at home!

  • Great tank !!!

  • what is your substrate?

  • Is co2 really necessary to achieve a carpet of HC?

  • @Ieftyy nope, just good substrate and lights :)

  • Absolutely beautiful work.

  • simply beautiful!

  • what plants are on the hilly part?

  • wow! like an ancient forest covered in moss

Nunca he abonado ninguno de mis acuarios. CO2 1 burbuja/segundo. Saludos!

  • fabulous~a truly beaytifull aquarium

  • my hc keeps getting holes in leafes and or brown spots :(

    Why is that?

Leafes sometimes die of little bit :(

  • @ikelleners

Sounds like you've got a potassium deficiency. What do you fertilize?

  • @donkeyfieldmouse I did without furtaliser and great results before....

I don`t believe in furtaliser so much but good soil.

Furtaliser is biit risky, I very shy with that stuff.

Less furtaliser, less algea risk, no?

It is to high PH I think, it is on 7.5

I make new aqua soon and I think put on YOUTUBE for fun.

I need to lower ph, by start using co2, and lot of soil is good idea no?

I want to push it down to 6.0 6.5

Hoping I not need to use driftwood, cause makes the water so brown.

  • @ikelleners

I will reply in a PM.

  • @ikelleners boil your driftwood and it will be good to go without coloring the water..

  • @ikelleners Leaves are not eternal, they have a defined time to live, and after that they die. You can prune the Hc to revitalize the plant and allow new leaves formation. It will help you to have a healthy Hc carpet. I NEVER fertilize my tanks, only pruning and CO2 injection is my way. Good luck with your plants!.

I invite you to see some other creations searching by the user name "EcodesignsChile"

    Regards from Chile!

  • @changotron Cool thanks, my HC doing great now in ADA soil! Lots of co2, lots of light, and Ph at 6.5 did the trick. (1 of the 3 anyway.) I only have very little brown algae on HC cause I putted in a new tank. And very little beard black algae on Eleocharis. You think I will not see it anymore in 1 months?

It is not spreading at all.

The plans are totally outgrowing it.....

Thanks again for the notice and all.

U want I make video of my tank :)?

  • @changotron MY plants doing better and better,HC cant get more healthy and strong looking :)

I only have curly leafs on my Rotala nanjeshan&wallichi. But I furtalised only half so now I furtalise more..As much as says on bottle.Black algae is losing the battle, simply by removing. I will cut the`bad`parts out when carpet is bit solid.

And brown algae is gone gone.

Black algae is getting very weak, very little flufs here or there, when I prune, what I want next time,it will be as good as gone...

  • How do u get that "hilly" form.? Great tank.!

  • @mcfly653vr6 You can achieve that hilly form just pruning your Hc carpet. You can read older questions to see more details. Regards!

  • Can you go into detail on how you prune your HC to get that "hill" look? This is a dream tank!

  • so awesome just paradise for these fishies

  • genial

  • beautifully done. KUDOS !

  • Dang, great work. It looks great. You know you've done something right if you can post a video of you just walking your camera around your tank and get 70k + views.

If I had that set up in my house I would sit looking at it for hours.

  • @M3iscool thanks for your words!.... i spend hours looking at my tanks and I never get bored ahahaha.

I invite you to see some of my other creations... searching the username EcodesignsChile.

    Regards from Chile!

  • Wow!!! What a wonderful aquarium plant set you have there!!!!

    Saludos

  • awesome. love the cover on the bottom

  • What's the music? It's nice.

  • @bmxisforme I don't know the name of the track.. is one from youtube, you can add some music from youtube after you upload a video.... and this track is one of those

  • like another world.

how long did it take for all that hc to fill in?

  • @captainhennessey it took about 6 - 8 month to gave the final 'hilly' form

  • Wow!!! What is that mossy looking plant?

Cual planta es sobre las piedras??

  • @11NACTX11 The plant is Hemianthus callitrichoides.. also known as "cuba"

  • How much did it cost you to make the substrate?

I love your tank btw! =D The HC is beautiful...mine isin't growing very well and doesn't seem to want to stay in the gravel :s

  • if u have achieved the hills by juss pruning then i bet your pruning skills are totally bad ass.. :P.. by the way nice song.. may i know the name of the track...???

  • @shrynakesavan thanks!!... I don't know the name of the track.. is one from youtube, you can add some music from youtube after you upload a video.... and this track is one of those

  • @changotron LOlzzz all i had to do was click the show video statistic's button next to the No. of views... "Ray Carl Daye

    Song:

A Daydream In Blue" found it thanks.... someday i aspire to have a tank as beautiful as urs... i mean it... love ur little garden ;)

  • @shrynakesavan thanks for your words :)

  • If you could, or anyone for that matter help me? I am wondering what a good grassy/mossy type plant that would cover the floor of my aquarium might be? Similar to changotron's set up here. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  • that is simply a beautiful setup those fish are in the best environment possible. very nice job

  • Poor corys want some sand! lol

  • How do you manage to get such even growth for your HC ? Any recommendations as to how to plant it ? The HC i get over here normally comes in pots with wool.

    Thanks in advance =)

  • Man your tank rocks

  • you should trade all those corys to get 15 pygmy cories :)

  • LOVE your aquarium!!!! GOod Work!!

    Saludos!

  • wouw

  • are the rocks forming the hills? how do you get the substrate to stay on top if so?

    great tank.

  • @captainhennessey Nop, the rocks are very small in fact. The hills are only formed by the Hemianthus callitrichoides itself.

  • you know what your doing..... period.

  • @teddyzaper thanks for your words!!

  • @teddyzaper thanks my friend :)

I invite you to see some others creations. You must search the user name "EcodesignsChile".

    Regards!

  • can you help me? what are your specs? i have a 75 gal tank, a little more than 2 watts per gallon, co2 with inline reactor and ph controller set to around 7.1 to 7.2, bubbles going at 2 drops per sec. lights on 10 hrs a day, i'm getting algae on the glass, and hair algae growing on my plants, and the plants don't look like their growing well and slowly losing color...the substrate is eco complete, and i use liquid ferts every 4 days...what's wrong??? the tank is only 2 weeks old... thank you

  • @gmani1082 Setup looks OK to me. Is absolutely normal the algae issue and those problems with the plants when you set up a new tank. You have to wait until the system stabilize itself and reach the equilibrium (it takes more than 4 - 6 weeks). If you fertilize now you are only extending the time that takes to reach the equilibrium, and amplifying the algae issue by giving them nutrients to grow up (plants can't use the fertilizers untill they adapt to the tank conditions and start to grow).

  • How do you get moss like that to happen?

  • @loser667667 there are no moss in this tank. The ground cover plant is Hemianthus callitrichoides... also known as "cuba". You can prune this plant to control growing as you wish.

    Regards

  • @changotron Does the Cuba, tend to stick by itself or do you have to tie it off or something?

  • @unholydegas The plant doesn't need to be tied to something. It grows like any other plant with their roots in the substrate. I gave this "hill form" by pruning the plant and controlling their growing.

  • @changotron Awesome, thanks for the response, I have additional questions... I wonder, what type of substrate you need, or do you just toss it in there.... I have a substrate that is a work in progress, basically sand... small gravel and soon i'm going to add a layer of peat underneath that... But, my question is... Do i need to add the layer of peat, or under gravel soil at all? I mean... will the plant eat the waste that has accumulated underneath? And could i get away without pruning?

  • @unholydegas I made a susbtrate about 35% sand, 35% clay, 15% peat, 15% humus. I mixed all that and later I isolated that putting a layer about 1'' of normal sand (to avoid clay, humus or peat get to the water if you have to replant). Over that I put a layer of volcanic black sand to give a different look to the tank.

If you don't prune this plant, it will tend to float after a while, so it would be better if you prune it to control height and make your plants look much better and healthy.

  • how do you clean it?, can you use a gravel vaccum or does it uproot the plants?

  • @bigun1999999 yes, you can use a gravel vaccum to clean the tank.... I use one made by myself and it works perfectly. To clean the glass I use a common plastic card, it works better and faster than magnets and other systems you can find on the market... and it doesn't scratch de glass.

  • beautiful tank, but there are hardly any fish

  • wow, stunning effect, congrats!

  • How do you grow Hemianthus callitrichoides under water so well? I having problem of growing it, it turn to darker green and slowlier weaker and smaller then dissapear T.Teven i use co2 and also fertilization. Inorder to save species i plant it submerged, and it grow well submerged. somebody help me !please

  • I love HC for the way it looks but I hated the mess of trimming them.

  • keren setup nya

  • Wow What A Nice Tank!!!

    good job

  • A Pleco would destroy this beautiful tank. They get too large and don't just eat algea but also plants. Buy flying foxes or algea eating shrimps.

  • Were you affected by the earthquake? Beautiful tank by the way, just amazing looking. Is this Co2 injected? And how frequent does your pruning need to be for that plant?

  • what is the name of the algea like plant?

  • @opnasd you mean the ground cover? its Hemianthus callitrichoides or dwarf baby tears

  • If you're referring to the groundcover, it's Hemianthus callitrichoides or "hc"

  • Wow! This is amazing!

  • Awesome! Hey were did you get the grass? I wan to do that but the closest this my fish store had was like a grass looking thing in a bundle!

  • add a 30cm pleco in there :p , 5* in other words

  • It's a type of good Algea like a plant

  • Is it just me or is your tank infested with algea?

  • @fds4eva they are not alger ,,,pest,, they are aquatic plants ,,,,,alger as not as complex ,

  • awesome tank.

How did u manage to make so many 'bumps'

    they look really nice.

how often do you prune HC?

are they like glosso in a way that they get thicker evertime you prune them?

I had glosso once and it got so thick i had to remove it.

  • Amazing tank. Simply beautiful. One of the best I've seen on YouTube.

  • This is how I like my tanks. Lots of hills and nooks and crannies. Very nice!

  • wow that looks amazing keep up the good work

  • Love your tank. I am wondering how you made the "hilly" sort of effect where the HC grows over mounds? I figure it is substrate under there and not rocks. If so how did you manage to keep the form of the mounds?

  • thanks for your comments. I invite you to see a video of a paludarium that I made for a friend of mine. You must search it by the user name EcodesignsChile

I have some other projects incoming.. so I hope to be able to upload some more vids very soon (with EcodesignsChile account)

    regards!

  • wouw

  • are those algae on them rocks?

  • yes, I had recently transplanted the stems to the tank when the video was filmed, so it suffered a little algae issue as a consequence of the imbalance that was caused by the plants removal. But that was just temporally. Anyway... if you don't want to wait so long, it's nothing that a little Otocinclus affinis army can't solve.

  • That's a very beautifull aquarium! Well done!

  • Have to say. Iv seen alot of planted tanks but theres something special with this one that makes me wanna see it over and over again. VERY nice job!

  • thanks for your words!!!, I'm very very flattered, and I hope not to be just one more egocentric ass, but in fact none of the tanks that I've ever seen with H.c. looks like this. The key is just pruning the plants as you wish, and be very careful about the height, you must control it to avoid that your carpet tend to float (a common problem with this plant)... and of course be veeeery patience to see any results... but finally so much waiting brings some nice rewards

    Regards from Chile!

  • your acuarium is bery bery beatyfull

  • how do you clean that thing???0.0

  • VERY NICE TANK!!!! :)

  • superb tank!, i really struggle to grow Hemianthus Callitrichoides , do you have any tips?

  • aye, use da google translate, hes spanish spanish.

  • Wow. I love all of the hc slopes you made there. Must be a pita to trim. If i were you I would just have hc in that tank. The stems doesn't look quite right in there.

  • thanks for your words!!. I agree with you about the stems, they doesn't look very nice. These plants were recently transplanted to the tank when the video was made, that's why the ugly aspect.

    regards

    Saludos

  • Muchas gracias por la respuesta! Voy a probarla a ver que pasa!

  • Beautiful

  • what is the plant that is carpeting the tank? baby tears?

  • Hemianthus callitrichoides

  • you'r tank looks so beautiful and natural

  • thanks for your words!! I invite you to see a new video of a paludarium that I think that looks very natural.

I upload it with another count that I have, so you must search it by the username "EcodesignsChile"

    Regards!

  • what type of substrate do you use?

  • I use a mix of clay, sand, humus and peat moss.

  • those aren't java moss?? just peat moss right? where can i get the substrate?

  • the susbtrate goes under the plants (peat moss is just a part of the mix of the susbtrate). The plants that covers the ground aren't java moss, they are Hemianthus callitrichoides a.k.a "cuba".

  • Do you have some red cherry shrimp or amanos in there? Looks like a little hair algae/detritus issue.

Nevertheless, amazing HC crop. I -wish- mine looked this good. What fertilizer do you use if any?

  • That was a problem at first, but the corys were a great solution while they were in the aquarium.

I've never used fertilizer in my aquariums, only CO2 injection.

  • Thanks for replying! If I may ask, how fast does your HC grow? Mine seems to spread very slowly.

  • that depends on your lighting (according the height and volume of your tank), fertilization, quality of your water, etc.... in this aquarium (only 35cm height) they spread faster than others that i had. If you want more speed you can grow them emerged and then you transplant the H.c. to the tank.

    Saludos

  • espetacular !

  • at 1:00 is that a female apistogramma. If so where is the male?

  • i'm not sure if that is a female, in fact i don't even know what kind of apisto is yet :S

  • fucking rad

  • Simply stunning tank, absolutely amazing HC foreground growth. The use of different contours and rocky features is jaw-dropping. So so envious.

One thing i will say is its a shame about some of the choices of fish. Pleco? Corys? in such a tank? fantastic tank nonetheless!

  • thanks for your words. Those fishes were in the aquarium just for the moment, they were living before in other tank that i had to disarm, so they were in the HC aquarium just for a while, until their new home was ready to receive them

  • Who do you think you are? Takashi Amano? lol. Superb job. Stunning.

  • ahahahaa... thanks man!!

  • how do you clean youre tank without messing up your nice plants????

  • Very nice, but the corydoras don´t seem to like it.

  • niceeeeee set up m8

    really nice looking

  • that looks very nice!

  • ooOOooo, awesome job!

  • What is that ground cover called???

  • rude.

  • how did you get your hemianthus to stay on the ground. mines tend to float. can you give some tips

  • use a wire mesh

  • u have a nice cave

  • Wow! whats the lighting?

  • what's your lighting?? how much t5 bulbs if u use t5...or how many watts per gallon do u have for your lighting?

  • what is the foreground plant? is that hemianthus whatevefr?
