  • heroes for ever

  • Bowie + Eno = The perfect sound

  • This is the best version of Heroes---period!

  • who is justin beibar? who

  • rare, rare, rare, like an alien.

  • He´s indescribable!!!!!! I love him!!!

  • I think I just died...

  • This is HOTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Bowie is the MAN

  • I think it is really inappropriate that the audience is dancing to this song...

  • I listened for the first time in Christian F. Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo...

  • @marcopiu82 cioè bel film

  • The real David Bowie, no more Thin White Duke, Ziggy or Aladdin. I believe around this time he also started cleaning up his act, drug wise. Looks a lot better than he did on Dick Cavett in '74.

  • @peterp21 Yes, the Duke, Ziggy, Aladdin, Major Tom were all gone...Bowie was being Bowie for the first time since his early recordings. Bowie had already stopped the cocaine abuse when Heroes was recorded, he substituted that with more alcohol, that's why the line "And I, I'll drink all the time"

  • @KanonXD Interesting about the alcohol, didn't know that. I heard he basically kicked the habit during the Low recordings, which might contribute to the sort of melancholy and depressed feel to some of the songs. Can't imagine stopping a huge coke addiction like Bowie had would have been much fun the first year or so. But at least he put his energy toward his music.

  • @peterp21 Yes, That's true, he went back to Europe to record Low and to try to stop the coke, when Bowie stopped coke all the fun were already gone it's said (in his biography, written by Pegg) that Bowie was suffering from paranoia and was in an awful physical state (see the Grammy he awarded to Tina Turner). I guess it was really hard for him, it was for the best, he is alive now, and gave us 23 albums.

  • One of the only people who even guys can fall in love with and it won't be considered gay.

  • David Bowie is to define divine.

  • "...And you- ohhhhh!.."

    gave me shivers watching this.

    Dave...where are you?...We need you!

  • is it possible to be that hot?

    ....

    Nah. Only For David.(:

  • and he don't "add" nothing, it'd only HIM, no masks, nothing only is shirt, the one i'd like to take off !!!

  • He is the most beautiful man that ever fell to Earth...

  • Oh, the good ol' days! The Superbowl could use Bowie for a halftime show, with this song being a cornerstone of the performance. Better than the Peas.

  • what cool

  • what a bloody legend!

  • Bowie looking and sounding great

  • He's always ahead of his time! Even his 80's look in the very 70's!

  • This might be the best vocal he's ever delivered on "Heroes." The backing track's a mite tame, but I do like the crisp, electropop sound. The bassline's especially pretty. But good god, the vocal, the vocal, the vocal. He was peaking as an expressive singer by this point, and the liquid falsetto licks at the end of certain lines (1:15, 2:21) are amazingly supple. He's reining in the full-bore attack a bit for the T.V. studio performance, yet still wringing every ounce of drama out of it. A+.

  • one of my most favourite songs and my most favourite performance of Heroes

  • Robert Fripp working his signature sound here

  • i like this old original version of heroes, i also have a version on my channel

  • Iconic performance. He is STILL this good today !!

  • @SRVTOP7ALLTIME

    Totally agree . . seminal

  • Love this <3<3<3

  • What a voice!!!

  • Buy Bowie's version of Heroes to keep x factor out the chart!

And the whole "it's for charity" how about you just give the money rather than using x factor ruining this song as an excuse.

    Show support for Bowie!

  • @becca123321 i wud rather donate money directly to any charity rather than thru fiX-factor. they're just managing to raise money & the poplairty by playing with sentiment..

  • NOT! JAZZ MUSIC! TERRIBLE!

    *MIKE SPENCE.

  • @soulchosen......... You are soooooooooooooooo right. :-)

  • Some trivia, his eyes are the same colour. A friend punched him in the eye or something like that which made his pupil permanently dialated. The same happened to me after I took some kind of patch against motion sickness but it wore off after about 24 hours thank god since that eye got really sensetive to light during. So I'm pretty sure David Bowie has much worse vision on that eye.

  • ice house did a gr8 performance of this song but you cant beat bowie

  • how is it that he has not aged at all. his face looks even better today. love this man.

  • @serwinator wtf are u saying?

  • @serwinator he can sing just about anything and each time he sings the same song he makes it unique. Listen to different songs from different albums and you would be surprised.

  • This song is so slick!!

  • Isn't he handsome? I guess he is..

  • ALL HAIL TO MAJOR TOM!!!!!

  • great vocal...

  • this is A BIG STARRRRRR!!!!!!!

    thank u for sharing !!!!!

  • This was specially re-recorded for TOTP and features Ricky Gardiner (who played guitar on LOW) rather than Fripp.

  • Thank you! Beautiful! Cool!

  • in love... *_* <3

  • Don't forget that this guy was the star of Labyrinth (1986). Nobody is perfect.

  • @BOBC82

Depends what you think of the film! I'd put it in my top 10 purely for the presence of this absolute god.

  • @BOBC82 You just proved that! HAR!

  • @BOBC82 That movie owns... So yeah David Bowie is perfect...

  • David the most inventive singer forever !!!! Fantastic !!!!

  • Funny how the audience are stuck in the 70s and he's already moving towards the 80s. :)

  • I love his smile at the first "Though nothing, nothing will keep us together"

  • One of the always great songs

Search Google for: moonlight on my skin

  • bowie at his peak. Already with singing skills developed and still young.

  • 1981: the 2 greatest things in music grouped up to make a mega-hit and was one of their best works, and who were those people? Queen And David Bowie.... R.I.P. Freddie Mercury

    R.I.P. Mick Ronson

  • @TheSHEERHEARTATTACK To me the greatest thing was Bowie and Trent Reznor from Nine Inch Nails. Under Pressure is on my top list though. ^^

  • me encata... lo amo!!!!!

  • I LOVE HIM!!!!

  • love it

  • This is what a REAL Rock star sounds like.

  • Super.

    Children from station Zoo.

  • eS EXCELENTE!

  • oh my! he looks so cute there. I thinks he's still hot XD

  • i love how he doesn't even have to try. it's like he's not even putting any effort in, and still, somehow, it sounds so fantastic and wonderful.

  • DAVID MOTHERFuCkING BOWIE!!!!!!!!!!! :O

  • gota be one of the best songs ever writen

  • Esse Cara e Mot Foda

  • what i dont understand i why he never sings the lyrics in the correct order, unlike the album version, still, great version and great song

  • @angusyoung98 I think he may have improvised the lyrics in the first place. Iggy Pop apparently did the same thing on a couple of tracks from the "Lust For Life" album (which Bowie produced), so Bowie might have been inspired to do a similar thing. Just a theory. And you're right...what a song!

  • @nothingclevertosay Yeah agree such a magnificent song. Both the Hereos and Low album were produced by Brian Eno and there was of course alot of improvisation and playing around with the songs. Both Bowie and Eno felt that great art comes from letting things flow free form.

  • Brilliant vocals, he has composed so many top songs.more than anyone I would think.

  • David Bowie is so fuckin' cool...

  • i didn't expect you'd sing this high note here!!!!!!!!!! nonono its over, why

  • @suntexistimo

    High note was awesome

  • This was during his "plastic soul" period - Young Americans.

  • @rolandrog _ No...the fantastic plastic soul period was in 1975, when he was totally anorectic, but still fabulous...!

This is 1977, after the Thin White Duke. After Low and Germany. Still wonderfull......***

  • It's a few years after Young Americans.

  • rolandro, I think you'll find this was several years after plastic soul (which was 74-75), after the thin white duke, after hiding in Germay to escape drugs evident in the Dinah Shore version of Stay. This is after the phenomenal "Resurrection on 84th Street" or "Uniondale Nassau 76" bootleg. This is after all that, but likely just before the excellent "Bremen Musikladen" bootleg performance. Both those are available by Googling; I especially recommend the Resurrection boot.

  • I should add the Musikladen show has video - really high quality video. Free download out there on the net; these words might do it - download musikladen video bowie

  • THANK YOU THANK YOU return thin white duke return

  • the hippest dude in the universe

  • absolutely true.

  • not the loneliest guy...

  • Bowie is and remains the best of the best. do you mean something else, you have a big problem with the music.

  • I ALWAYS see a demyx in him

  • Bowie is actually miming this. He recorded an alternative version for TOTP to make it sound like he was singing it live.

  • 1 of the best of the 70's Unique and amazing.... Always loved you!

  • The peak of his hotness, my God!

  • @Rachael1918 From a musical standpoint he had 3 peaks. 1969, 1972 and 1977.

  • highly sophisticated technique in playing the role of the absent minded beauty ...waouhh

but beauty anyway. ! and with a big B.

that's the problem with our beloved David... i think he's really the only person naive enough to suppose that nobody is clever enough to understand him ! and understand him through the game ! but the truth is that every real fan who really loves him , loves him with the game, through the game, in spite of the game and including it. !

    like me

  • @truthquest11 loved your comment))

  • If you were a young person, you might not really realize how much hipper Bowie is compared to someone like Rod Stewart who was at an all time low in 1977. At the moment this was made, rockers were under seige by DISCO. Many did not survive.

  • Rockers were also under siege by punk around this time.

  • love

  • All hail the Thin White Duke........

  • Great video, thx for posting!

  • Happy Birthday, David! xx <3

  • actually, for you stooges. the fact is, in Berlin a new recording technigue was done on the recordind. No one, had ever done it before. Now, you would have actually go back to the Beatles to do this. Mr. Bowie did changee music on a tecnnical level. Sorry, unlike you, I did not suck his cock. But he Sucked Iggy Pop.

  • i never realized how sad this song is until now

  • People just dont make great songs like these anymore! Bowie will always be remembered, he truly has an amazing talent, and I agree with ranchump!

  • What a voice, what a song, what a performance.

    Phenomenally good.

  • i soooooo love you David!!!!!!! <3

  • This is sweet, but please go and feel the sexy, boozy version on JANET605713.

  • Luvvvvvvvvvvvvv it !

  • Agreed Will there be anybody checking out "JOE" in 20 years? He'ii be lucj=ky to last 20 weeks.

  • Bowie really had the X Factor! Not like these manufactured idiots on TV talent shows!

  • @soulchosen Whats even worse the X Factor finalists are about to slaughter this song !

  • @hanman1 Why can't they stick to the usual pop dross! OK, it's a heroes theme but they could have done 'I need a hero' by Bonnie Tyler. No one could tell if they murdered that! This is nothing short of sacrilege!

  • fact is, the man has enormous talent and is a real original. no one sounds like him. 90% of the songs you hear today is processed junk that sounds like every other dopey song- esp. rap and idiots like britney and all the other dopey pop singers. yeesh. john lennon is rolling in his grave.

  • The holy Bow <3

  • Rien de plus vrai, rien de plus beau, rien de plus touchant... Superbe !

  • Im not a big fan but this has always been my favorite of his

  • amazing

  • That high note at 1:25 was, dare I say...orgasmic! Bowie is a rocker with class, talent, and charisma: something more musicians should have these days.

  • The most influential pop artist of the 70s, or is that of all time?

  • i wish.

  • Of all time. At least so far...

  • thats not live...

  • He is singing live to a recorded backing track.

  • wipe my arse

  • oh my love, you are the best!

  • zajebiaszczy kawałek :)

  • The 'Top Of The Pops' numpties are probably all wondering what the fuck it is all about.

    Just, History being made that's all . . . . .

  • Spot on. An amazing performance. 1:25 blows me away every time I hear it

  • He really cranks it up for the chorus.

Fantastic ground-breaking song . . . as I said, Bowie was making history with this song.

  • Along with Sinatra this could be the baddest fucker ever...

  • wow, didn't realize how ahead of the times this guy was. 77? thought it was like 87.

  • Yep. Bowie led the way. Hair, clothes, sound, attitude. Whatever he was doing....everybody else would be doing 5-7 years later. A total badass.

  • what for??

  • The Voice was Frank Sinatra, but David Bowie too...

  • that is called an E-Bow

  • hawt

  • I kinda get the feelin' that Bono was inspired by David Bowie. Both with the music and the manner of singing ;>

  • well they both worked with brian eno so maybe thats the connection

  • Bowie is so aristocratic.....

    everything in him is exquisite...

one of the greatest rock icons with style that is not the stereotype one...

  • Yessss...

  • He's freakin' HOT !

  • The Top Of The Pops audience are probably mystified.

Just one of the best songs ever, that's all teeny-boppers.

  • I'm going to melt.

    (And I'm a male)

  • He's one of those guys that are better and better as they age!

  • Bowie was born in Brixton and grew up in Kent,

  • not all... some

  • I quite like this version at least it is being sung live and not mimed.

  • how charming is he? :)

  • Yes he is a beautiful man, beautiful talent, and he is witty and intelligent, however, this is not my favorite rendition of this song, I find it quite passionless, which is ok, Bowie can produce his songs in many different ways. But I like another version, when he sings this song with passion.

  • Pffff, noob the wallflowers was created in 1989 and heroes in 1977

  • How dare someone not know everything!

  • God this guy is the hottest

  • Like normal people his bisuxual!

  • David Bowie is a sexy, sexy man.

  • I dated this Swedish guy theat looked just like him but was 23 he even had the eye deffect I love David!

  • ok, i live in sweden and have, since i was really young, set out my mission in life: to meet a bowie-look a like and marry him. haha, how do i find this swedish guy?

  • His name was Kasper he must be about 40 now I wonder what he looks like now, go find him ...lol

  • a look-a-like won't do much -- sex appeal comes from the inside...

  • I wish I looked like Bowie

  • You do, love.

  • Haha, the picture on my profile is Bowie from the Man Who Fell To Earth.

  • What a face What a voice What a song David Bowie, makes Elvis look like a pub singer
