Checking to see if there were any AMC covers on YT and found this..... wow, fantastic job !
I've tried to sing several songs and never felt like I came anywhere this close.....there's something slightly out of tune with the way he sings, much more subtle than a simple jazz style either....very impressed....if I get some nerve I might put up my JM Feet cover....
I've been thinking on this comment, and I think I might have indentified what you mean. I was listening to No Easy Way Down (which I will cover soon), and he starts some notes flat and very slowly bends up into them. If that's what you mean, Otis Redding used to do it as well, notably on I've Been Loving You Too Long. Comparing my singing to Mark's is the greatest musical compliment I've ever had!
Yeah, the video is always gonna be limited by my crappy camera, and the fact that I need to be in my tiny office/studio in order to use the good recording gear. That said, I can get the pop screen out the way for sure, and maybe I can move the whole mic out of shot without compromising the audio quality. Previously, it was up and to the side of me, and the clarity and punch was definitely down.
the audio sounds great on this video. i've researched those mcphersons before and then stopped when i saw the price tag. you're so lucky to be able to play/review one.
I really am. And seriously Russ, sell a kidney or something, and buy a McPherson. It's sooo awesome. Get one of the deep ones, and get a cedar or redwood top, because I also have a shallower one with a spruce top, and it's quite like a regular guitar, whilst still very good. The deep rosewood one is from another world!
LOL @ the sandwich remark. Your new set up sounds great! Beautiful singing and playing. Is the McPherson job related or do you get to keep it? I'd love an Elle McPherson.
That comment comes from This Is Spinal Tap! The McPherson is just here to review - it costs over $5000, so I think I may have to wait to own one myself.
Great taste.

I don't mind seeing the mic in the shot at all - audio is most important for this type of video, so great job.
