@chuckcegielski : very childless and unnecessary brutal reaction! I know that the average american is very stupid and at least you are fullfilling this reputation. Houston in the 90's? You are running behind bro, this is Belgium in the 80's. Get real!
I really don't understand why everybody is talking about Houston or calling this german Darwave... This is Belgian, according to Badoo the most boring country in the world. In reality we are only not making big noise but a lot of good music trends were originated in Belgium. For those with an eye for the details: thank you for liking Belgium :-)
Yes!! Houston clubs were the best back in the day. I feel so fortunate to have grown up in Houston to have this wonderful experience. Wouldn't change it for the world! Great music, friends and drugs ; 0
I have this 12" and over 1500 lps and 12"s from the late 80's/early 90's .. dj'd a couple spots in town for a moment .. #'s /Lizard Lounge/ ... i think my 12" collection is worth a lot and probably would be extremely collectible at this point .. would sell my clothes off my back before my records during hard times .. miss Record Rack from back in the daze
@DeeJayStirFry sound like clubs i used to hit up in Houston. Lizards lounge is still a spot i'll frequent (Frat boy hang out these days but it's all good).
Yay! Houston comments! I went to NRG once with my mom and her at the time boyfriend. I was too young to go to Club 6400, but lived at #'s for awhile. Haven't been in about a year, but they still have this song in regular rotation. Ok-this post is random enough, I guess.
Being from Southern California I was glad to have had the opportunity to lived in Houston for a year.... Memories included: Boone's, Street Fighter, Numbers, Emo's, Some, DETOUR (OR HOWEVER IT WAS SPELLED) and raves... I was even disappointed going back home after that... We had Helter Skelter it was ok... Good Times....
I miss those days in the 80s / 90s in Houston....the clubs were cool....Power Tools, the DJ @ The Ripcord on Saturday nights, NRG off of North Shepherd going up into the Heights (the BEST club that Houston has seen as far as I'm concerned) - loved the DJ booth that overlooked the HUGE dance floor, Therapy, and the wild after hours parties that seemed to pop up after the clubs closed......it was fun back then! Miss it.....JCN in Kentucky
Oh hell yeah, I was born and raised on Houston and started as a teen at Fame City going to Studio Circus, then went to power tools, dv8, Numbers, red square, xtasy, lizard lounge, shark dance, and some club in Rosenberg ( can't remember the name though ). I live in Dallas now and go only to Lizard lounge here and it is still going strong even in the goth, industrial scene on thursdays and sundays. Check out Dj Virus on Facebook, he spins at Lizard on those above mentioned nights :)
@mrdefkon1 Hahahaha! I went to the same clubs when i was younger!! As a matter of fact I'll be going to Number's tonight. Was trying to get myself in the dancing mood!!
Oh hell yeah :). I remember that one to. I live in Dallas Tx now and they are coming up on 20 years at Lizard Lounge and on Thursdays and Sundays they play ALL of the classic oldies from the above mentioned clubs as well as current stuff like VNV nation, wumpscut,ect... I still go mainly on Sundays and dance my ass of just like when I was in my teens. I still get the same feeling and Lounge here takes me way back with the decor of the club which is so retro of the glory days.
Ahhhh yes Ol' red square. I was just thinking about the old days last week when I swear I thought I saw someone wearing Z Cavarricci pants. Looked just like them. I had I think 4 pair. But I liked Red square. I think what I miss is the darker atmosphere back when the club lighting systems were not super high tech. Funny thing too is that I actually miss the smell of the fog from the machines. Weird I know !! . I miss the girls with their Aqua- Net spray cans too. Oh well, its 2012 now.
Ahhh. brings back lots of great memories! what i would give to go back in time and re-live this part of my life. the clubs were awesome, the music was awesome, and life was good! i worked at a few of these bars back in the day. still live in houston but the club scence is not what it use to be. guess im old..... lol

i have the 12 inch record of thiz ..bought it at record rack like 94 i think ..hell to many yrz and drugz ago to remember...lol...paid like 50 bux for it ..waz from a DJ at one of the clubs from back then ..again to many yrz ago and to many drugz ago to remember..lol..itz on limewire ..
u can find the song on the net alot of them of course requires a credit or debit card for purchase but the whole album i couldnt find only in london, italy, and some other countries it was going for 27pounds dunno how much that is.if u can find it in the states get at me.
Thanks. Still looking. Limewire you can download for free but every time this song hits that site it won't download because it is corrupted. Won't quit trying!
This song still ranks as one of my all time favorites. I grew-up in Corpus Christi, a sleepy lil beach town. In the late eighties and early nineties there was one club that was the shit "the great escape"(later "the wave") and this song packed em in. the DJ shaun, must have got all of his music from #'s because the playlists are so similar. It created a sub-genre all it's own.
I forgot about Thereapy - over by the Pierce Elevated. Did not open until 2 am. Everytime I came out of that place it felt like a scene from Bright Lights Big City. Man we are old!!!!
Hey Chavez553, Just to let you know that was the original lizard lounge. Before Don moved it up Dallas. We U shut down that club when the sun was coming up. I mean at 5am it was still packed. those were the days. Oh no, all this time I thought I was going senial. When if fact I just fried my brain.
Yeah, I remember the spot. The one in Hoouston I mean. Never new they moved it up to Dallas? I went there a hand full of times. Fried my brain as well. That was so long ago. I feel old!
yeah, lizard loung or "the lounge"was THE club in Houston in the early 90's.I have seen Dennis Rodman and Chris Farley there...One of the radio stations used to broadcast live from there on Friday or saturday nights..I dont remember which
Yeah, I think Excedera got shut down from all the damn violence that went on there. But then again, Houston was all together really fuckin violent back then in the 80s and early 90s. LoL!
I own the double EP CD for "En Grande Colere/Pirty for the Self . . . or We'll Teach You to Dance". Poesie Noire hewed closer to the New Beat sound of Belgium, which is known specifically for its slower BPM. I would agree with an earlier poster that this is pitched far too fast. If anything, using Master Tempo with a faster BPM would be better than the sonic pitch also being pushed like this. Just two cents worth.
Hey I'm from San Antonio too. I LOVE this song takes me back to my Image days in high school. They play this song over at Atomixx on friday nites, I just went yesturday and they played it, u know I ran to the dance floor when it started. ^^
The Houston dance clubs in the late 80's and early 90's were changing the music scene. It was a great time for industrial dance music and places like 6400, Xcess, Decadance, DV8, Numbers, Bayou Mama's, Blue Planet, NRG's were among the clubs playing this sound.
Check out these great Houston club classics on youtube, Umo Detic - Fahrenheit, Dirty Harry - D-bop, Until December - Until December, Westbam - Alarm clock, Kon Kan - I beg your pardon, Calm III - Take me high, Nitzer Ebb - Join in the chant, Bolluck Brothers - Harly David son of a bitch & any other TRAX that made Houston the club scene of the 80's & 90's!
I remember this song and still love it, but I think they got ripped off recently by the All American Rejects song "move along". I think they stole the music because I didn't start thinking about "pity for the self" till I heard "move along".

It created a sub-genre all it's own.

you know i had completely forgotten about House of Eden. Rich's on thursdays. And Therapy!! I feel old thinking about it.
TheLeigh1974 2 years ago
I forgot about Thereapy - over by the Pierce Elevated. Did not open until 2 am. Everytime I came out of that place it felt like a scene from Bright Lights Big City. Man we are old!!!!

cypressc71 2 years ago
Yeah, those where the days. Can't get THEM back anymore. Do you remember excedra and Club AM ?
CHAVEZ553 2 years ago
Hell yeah I remember am and excedera.Well,I remember most of my time there...lol.
krazygirlz13 2 years ago

Sounds like ass pitched up like this.

The Houston dance clubs in the late 80's and early 90's were changing the music scene. It was a great time for industrial dance music and places like 6400, Xcess, Decadance, DV8, Numbers, Bayou Mama's, Blue Planet, NRG's were among the clubs playing this sound.
criket207 2 years ago

Check out these great Houston club classics on youtube, Umo Detic - Fahrenheit, Dirty Harry - D-bop, Until December - Until December, Westbam - Alarm clock, Kon Kan - I beg your pardon, Calm III - Take me high, Nitzer Ebb - Join in the chant, Bolluck Brothers - Harly David son of a bitch & any other TRAX that made Houston the club scene of the 80's & 90's!
outlaw8651 2 years ago
To anyone who remembers club ETC, 6400, #'s, Lizzard lounge, Power tools & all the other bad ass clubs that Houston TX had to offer! This TRAX ROCKS!

i cant even find this song on net to steal it
deelitemee 2 years ago
I remember this song and still love it, but I think they got ripped off recently by the All American Rejects song "move along". I think they stole the music because I didn't start thinking about "pity for the self" till I heard "move along".

Quality is great but the pitch needs to be slower. Lucky I have the software to do it. If anyone wants a copy message me.
