actually what you do is first insert your batteries in the alarm and then test it BEFORE you hang it up because there is no point in installing the bracket and such fourth just to find out it doesn't work after all.
...or you can change the batteries on the "fireworks" holidays (New Year's Day & July 4th) because the "clock changing" thing isn't every six months anymore.
