Airlines may use large planes on short flights for various reasons some of which include high passenger loads and greater cargo capacity. Back when this video was shot, yes Continental did not fly any 757s to Hawaii but that has now changed. Flights 12 and 3 (HNL-LAX, LAX-HNL) are now flown with the 752 instead of the 764ER. This is because the 764 is needed for international expansion specifically for the new flights from houston to london heathrow. And yes, the plane in the vid is a 764ER!
Its definately not a 767-400. AT 2:16 you can see the wing tip...not a raked wingtip like all the 764's have. I agree most likely a 757 or possibly a 762....
The angle from which the video was shot makes it difficult to see the raked wingtip but it is definitely there. At the time of filming Continental didn't fly 757's to Hawaii, and the wing is too high from the ground to be a 737 (which do island hopper flights for Continental Micronesia).
Thats a alot of JAL planes there...

Is this flight 15? Coming from Newark?

its flight 3 from los angeles

? It doesn't seem like an airline like Continental would use such a large plane for that distance. More like a 757 or 737.
mhcblues22 4 years ago
the only 737 that reach hnl is a737-900ER whichwould be pushing the range and the passenger demand is to much for a 737

then a 757 fits the bill.
