But hold your breath and when you do it makes it harder for your body to stay submerged you tend to float upward once you get to the top and you can't swim you better relax and float. Staying calm is really the only logical way make it through any life or death situation because when you start to freak out you can't think straight. You need to stay calm so you can think clearly, logically, and fast.

That doesn't work. The pressure wont equalize until the car is on the bottom, however deep that may be, because if car is still sinking it causes a pressure difference. Don't brace for impact, instead if you know your going to hit water, open the door instead, or else you may not be able to afterwards.
