@me2goodfoyou Robert A. Heinlein wrote about that in "The Roads Must Roll" (max speed 100mph). Isaac Asimov "borrowed" the idea in "Caves of Steel" (only 60 mph top speed). Unlike today's moving sidewalks, travelers would move from side to side to reach faster or slower strips, standing still when they reached their desired speed. Only rowdy teenagers would run on them, playing a kind of speed tag that could result in injury or death if you fell or knocked people over into adjacent strips.

I'm thinking 10 KmPH wouldn't be unreasonable. Just under six-and-a-quarter MPH.
