  • doom was not that bad on snes. worst version ? no obviously the 32 x has less levels .

  • honestly considering this is the SNES the graphics actually look pretty good for a 3d game on the snes :-p

  • Why not do a comparison of the 32X and Super Nintendo ports of Doom, then whoever wins gets compared to the PC version?

  • This game was nightmare material for me when I was little. I'm pretty sure any anxiety I've felt since I was 5 can be traced back to Doom and Turok. That's what happens when a little 5 year old girl sneaks and plays games she's not supposed to.

  • I was amazed that they were able to have Doom on the Snes at all! a 16 bit console! and this would have been like a next gen game on a current gen console!

  • THUMBS UP FOR SUPER DOOM!!!

  • what is I.D. software?

  • @Yeknom0913 they made the wolfstein 3D and doom

  • @JeanLeTrut I'm pretty sure that id made those games, not I.D.

  • @JeanLeTrut

    And quake :D

    And rage.

I just wonder why Raven and ID dont form the one company I mean really they are working with eachother like all the time since the beginning of FPS.

  • @Yeknom0913 the company that made the game

  • @Yeknom0913

    Dangerous Dave

    Commander Keen

    Doom 1,2,3

    Quake 1,2,3, (4)

Wolfenstein 3d, return to castle wolfenstein, (wolfenstein)

    Rage

The games that I put in () are actully made by other companies however they are part of ID franchies.

Some other games based on ID are ROTT (rise of the triads), Heretic 1 and 2, Hexen 1 and 2 etc...

I dont even call some games being ID games but rather ID and Raven software since they worked on so many titles togheter.

  • I've found SNES Doom on a a store . They are selling it by $10. Is it a good price?

  • @RickRoller90001 cheaper than amazon...

  • @69thPredator Heh, but the problem is that the cover is a little ripped, but I think it maybe worth it.

  • @RickRoller90001 i hope the game works the last couple systems i got from a store like goodwill were broken make sure keep the reciet to turn it back in if it doesnt if not then you got lucky

  • the pc version is not that bad

  • This is a prime example WHY its the best choice to be a PC gamer.

  • How can you recommend doom on xbox when doom has always been better played on PC!

The pc version of doom is the absolute definitive way to play Doom and it has always been and nobody has ever questioned the truth of that!

Doom is a definitive pc game through and through and today you can actually find Doom updated on upc with vastly improved graphics and full support for mouse too!

High resolution textures and 3d models exist too in today's doom source ports on pc!

  • I've actually seen worst game graphics and sound delays. This is actually better and has a better HUD.

  • @Rakiarmas. theydid do that. It's called Painkiller

  • Someone should make new Doom. I don't mean that "horror in the dark rooms"-Doom3. I mean Classic Doom, 2.5D, sprites, goofy action rock, LOT'S of levels with LOT'S of different monsters.

If they make this with today's technology it could be best FPS of 2000.

  • @Rakiarmas and serious sam

  • @Rakiarmas, There are MANY WAD's. WAD's are the packages containing the sprites, music, levels, ect. Some have updated graphics, some are different games. And WADs are playable on almost all ports, even the iPod Video (the one with the click wheel, from 2005). So it's not really needed. Oh, and there are many new versions of DooM, such as ZDoom for PC, if you really want the original DooM on Windows.

  • I like to see some reviewer saying "go play DooM". So many people I met dislike DooM, and if I ask them for the reason, they can't give any proper. It's still the "bad game", and they reduce DooM to the violent gameplay. I look at it as a wonderful game, a maze game with an atmoshphere to me no other game can create. (Probably because it was one of the earliest video game on the PC I ever saw, my mum always pulled me away watching my dad playing DooM xD) The SNES version is still nice though.

  • i think this runs well on the SNES still.

  • they have a version out for the blackberry playbook its free and the controls are good. it plays like the original nice and smooth!

  • I just played the rom for an emulator, I am a huge fan of doom, an avid player on the pc, I have gotten use to the super streamlined high resolution and dynamic lighting you can have on skulltag. But even when playing with the original graphics off dos, the snes version doesn't come close. No particle effects when bullets hit walls, floors and ceiling have no textures, and the monsters always face you, no animations from other angles. Also the shotgun shoots a single projectile I read.

  • i am an snes and im offended y this review

  • @volkswagenginetta SNES= great

DOOM for SNES= bad. If you want it on a console, but it on Xbox live arcade or Playstation Network. It has no lag and has added levels

  • @Daemeon93 i know i meant it as im actually a super nintendo entertainment system. it was a joke so yea, i personally like the 32x better then the snes

  • Comment removed

  • this was my first console fps

  • I personally like this version because the low resolution and sluggish controls add an extra edge of difficulty. Plus the music! And as far as console ports of Doom, this is the most accurate one released. It has all three original episodes, all enemies, bosses and weapons. The other ports run smoother and *look* nicer, but are completely butchered. If you want to get the real Doom experience, boot up an old DOS computer and pop in that floppy.

  • @jeremysart ill make a doom game with one pixel through out the whole game but awesome music... would you still play it nintendo fan boy

  • @davstec3 Im a fan boy because I like this port? I also like it on PSX and PC. But yeah, your cool. Keep trollin'

  • @jeremysart So basically, you're saying that you prefer the worst ports of Doom because they make it more difficult. Why don't you try the Game Boy version?

  • @jeremysart thanks:) i know im cool

  • @jeremysart It's missing several levels. You're trying too hard to be a fanboy.

  • the snes doom may be bad compared to the pc version, but it's not a bad game in itself

  • The only real strength of the SNES version was the music. I loooooove SNES music, and DOOM sounds decent on it.

  • Back in the day on PC this was an amazing game like no other but bother of wolf3d. The controls for console wasnt really a problem as you spent many hours practicing anyway. I had both and PC just felt smother with better gfx, sound ect but in them days everything on PC was better

  • @fpvshitsonhsv still is

  • @macoronicheez Yeah well think so too but some crappy ports from the 360 makes the PC option not always the best. Sad thing is not many games are PC dedicated or should i say superior compared to console. Games such as Mortal Kombat 2011 they are not even thinking of releasing on PC :( which is a shame as my rig i could make it run better then two 360's. I just hope PC bounces back ,PC FOR THE WIN :)

  • 1/5 just collect all 3 key cards and you've finished the ENTIRE game. The 1 out of 5 beacause it invented the FPS seris

  • For a 16 bit game it was a pretty faithful adaptation. I think it was a good game.

  • Doom.

    Doom!

    DOOOOOOOOOOOM!!

  • i like music from snes.

    (pc is best,,,,,,)

  • custei da final nessa porra

  • It wasn't a great port, but DAMN did that cartridge look sexy.

  • I remember renting the SNES version back before I had a computer, and being very disappointed with how terrible the port was. No floor or ceiling textures, terrible resolution, and horrible controls.

By the way it isnt pronounced "eye dee software" its id as in the 1/3rd structural model of the psyche. Dont feel bad though, I use to say it wrong back in the 90's.

  • Best part: first 0:16 - 0:25

  • they could,ve made the snes version more playeble,by putting the ceillings in the levels way more down, simplefying the levels, removing those annoying obstacles & traps like poles, condlesticks, removing the only to acces other levels in harder modessystem, removing the nichtglass, and make it just standard as bricht is with glass, remove invissibillity but instead let enemy's allway's only shooting at close distances.

they would,ve save space for, more music, textures, sound so doom would,ve run better

  • I love Doom. I felt the sequel improved on it in many ways, but the original had the real impact. It's still one of my all time favorite games, and it's the most used app on my iPhone.

  • I remember playing this on my friends old pc without sound over 56k with some guy who lived down the street. at the time I thought it was the greatest thing ever.

  • Yes, many people play it, and if you think Skulltag has no people, you could always try zDaemon which is a program exactly like Skulltag, it has more people but the graphics are far worse. Skulltag has 3D OpenGL options, and the graphics are really improved, and zDaemon also has nice old graphics but more people play it. Basically, try Skulltag first cause it has fun mods like "Who dun it" and "All out War" that are really fun, just give zDaemon and Skulltag a try if you ask me.

  • a m rated video game for the snes? strange

  • @fingerboardmaster22 back then this would scare the shit outta people and its rated m because of the weapons and bloody action and tuns of dead bodys that dont fade away

  • @101cgk but still compare this to halo and gta it's like nothing

  • @fingerboardmaster22 You're a goddamn retard for saying that.

  • @l33tpete saying what?

  • @optimusmikey nope? nope as in doom beats halo AND ALL FPS ANY DAY

  • @fingerboardmaster22 uhh no dur it beats any fps

  • @fingerboardmaster22 There were a few M-Rated games on SNES, such as Mortal Kombat II.

  • Everyone, wanna play Doom 1 and 2 online? (Multiplayer) Then go to either Skulltag.com! Its been out for so long and its so fun, it also has enhanced graphics! It looks great, it plays smoothly and its ultra fun! Im advertising this cause i've known it for about 6 years now, and its really fun and addictive, it has tons of mods, Co-op and Deathmatch modes like Capture the Flag, Free for All and tons of more mods, if you like Doom you'll love it!

  • @FireDrifter100 do many people play it ?

  • @InecomCompany id Software, dude. id. It's pronounced the way it looks, and isn't an acronym. Literally. It's just "ihd".

  • If you like knock-down, drag-out desperate firefights with awesome weapons that go down to the last bullet and your last bloody-faced 10% of health before you escape by the skin of your teeth...that was Doom. It was so scary and challenging and action-packed but NEVER so difficult that you couldn't get through if you tried. Just a masterpiece of design.

  • i liked this game for the snes

  • no Wolfenstein 3d no doom = No Call Of duty

  • @born2war1 no battlezone no wolfenstein? im not sure...

  • @born2war1 No Medal of Honor = No call of duty

  • @charlesw211 No Wolfenstein 3D no Doom no Goldeneye no Medal of Honor = No Call of Duty XD

  • @charlesw211 No call of duty = no Killzone

  • @born2war1 And nothing of value would have been lost.

  • @born2war1 no first person shooters

  • Having played all the versions of this game, I can honestly say I believe the best version (next to the PC of course) was the 3do version. Not many had the 3do or Doom for the 3do for that matter, so if you ever get your hands on either, enjoy it.

  • This is the game that made me love shotguns.

  • the snes version gets so much shit but you know what the gameplay is so good that i forget about the graphics

  • i just got my snes up and running 4 months ago. need this game.

  • Snes doom has the best music. 32x music sucks but the visuals are better.

  • DOOM FOR SNES.

    Fuck your 'head shots'.

  • Final Doom?

  • The gameplay may suck, but damn the music in this version is even better than the PC version's.

  • does doom work on the fc twin (or retro duo)?

  • @mrninjawafflez Of course..

  • sure the snes was a medium port,it has medium control response, frame rates, graphics, enemy intelligence, difficuilty, souind effects, vissiblity and it has poor physics etc,,,

bbut i bet it could,ve been an porfect port if it was based on the st 0018 chip necv810 wich was an 32bit chip used in only 1 snes game called hayazashi nidan ghousy 2.

  • lots of blood in this game

  • he said wolfenstein was the first person shooters

  • I remember renting this game as a kid back in, what, '96? And again in '98, I think.

Even back then, and even having never played the PC version of Doom, the game was unplayable. I would turn it on, play it for a few minutes, and shut it off because I just didn't enjoy it. So even back then, we knew the effect of poor frame rates and unresponsive controls even if we didn't know exactly what caused it.

  • you just said at all !!!

  • Jaguar doom ftw

  • he sounds drunk

  • @WildWaddledee Well, I guess the PSX version was meant to make you think "WTF IS GOING ON?" and the XBLA port was a direct port of the PC.

  • @WildWaddledee PFFFF! True man... the PSX and the XBLA version were THE best console ports... All the PSX version lacked was metal music...

  • @WildWaddledee 32x version had a bunch of fat-ass guys sitting around farting the DOOM music... and very FART sound effects.

  • @Masterlink981 Doom 32x was rushed. Just for a whatever event, heres what 32x Doom should have sounded like: /watch?v=brBQVcf37Xc To bad that the music sucked for the offical 32x version

  • rage anybody??

  • ID=subconscious (very simplified)

  • id. As in did. But then again, considering the games it's been releasing lately, I suppose it's ok to say it improperly.

  • This was a good port...

  • I still got this game on the PSone........I would like to c this 4 2days consoles

  • Iddqd, idspispopd, idkfa. Go nuts

  • wassss for gaysss

  • proberbly the worst looking port of doom

  • im waiting 4 doom....3d to come out

  • i remember how it felt back then. i was completely amazed to see this game running on the snes. my gramma had a 486 66mhz back then so i had already played doom and i loved it, and this version, at the time, didn't feel very diferent to me at all.

of course i couldn't even tell that the floor and ceilling texture were missing because i was 8 years old and didnt pay much attention to details, but still...

  • this version is great if it wheren't for this version i would have never know it now im a DooM adict

  • aww, dont be so hard on the snes,I think it did a fine job..for a 16 bit system.I had this for snes,I think all three episodes are in it.must of played it for over a year.

  • I don't think this game is that bad, I find it to be very enjoyable, sure it might have a slugish framerate but still, I have met many games that had a worse framerate than this that are outstanding like Perfect Dark.

  • DOOM had the most badass weapons selection of any shooter ever.

  • this game has so many ports

  • This one has the best music.

  • @TheDemoGameplayVault yeah 32x the BEST!!! not realy it was sarcasm pc would be the best obviously...

  • LESBI-HONEST this ver sux!!! 32x is the best!!!

  • @mivecturbo actually the atari jaguar is the best, although it has no music unlike the snes game and all the levels unlike the 32x

  • @MrWLangers didnt know that i am currently searching it... never realy gave that system a chance maybe it desirves a look at!

  • Germany lifts Doom sales ban after 17 years

  • I loved this game back when i had it for my SNES, maybe in genesis you can play it better.. but i would prefer a lot more playing it in my PC than playing it on the gensis, i mean.. c'mon genesis doom music was a total shit, just a piece of crap.. at least Snes doom had nice music.. and it wasnt that hard to control..

  • genesis does what nintendon't

  • the guy who invented this graduated at the same high school as my mom + she new him

  • @CODISGODISM .....REALLY GUYS....I have to troll this guy......``sigh`` fine......welcome to a snes game keep your mind intact and SHUT THE FUCK up.....this is like in 1995 or somethin.....i dont know this is a 2nd generation game so it has pixel graphics....now if your saying that doom is awful because of its pixel graphics well fucker thats because its an bit-era game...thats why the graphics as you call it suck...but really it doesn't suck..your probably just a kid.....m'kay shit for brains.

  • Doom made me nauseous,,,I can't even watch this video

  • what i don't get is the fact that everyone i know likes the music in this port. to be honest it feels really slow and kinda drags on.

  • Back in the day the game felt as you described it, clunky, impossible to see anything, pretty near impossible to pay. It put me off Doom since I always thought that was how the game was

  • Great graphics bro! XD

  • I remember a long hallway/cornerway and demons..I don't think it was this one though the red case made me think it was

  • I remember this...I rented it when I was little and I was too scared to play it DX x.x

  • This was the first version I played and I loved it. Then I played the PC shareware version on ZDoom and it was glorious.

Also, if you guys are interested in playing Doom online you can use Skulltag or Zdaemon. All you need is a copy of either Doom or Doom II which you can buy on Steam for cheap. The Xbox Live Arcade version is good, but not many people play it anymore. Plus, the newer versions like Skulltag and Zdaemon support way more than 4 players in a server, unlike the originals.

  • castle durkenstein is better.

  • i watch it in 1080p

  • reddish radish. the flamingos will fall. all hail the donkey king. si senor

  • idiot its id!

  • some fucking tell me what the intro song is

  • Better than Black Ops

  • I think the iPod Touch version of Doom is probably the best port of it I've played, believe it or not.

  • BACK IN THE DAY WHEN ALL I HAD WAS A SNES THIS WAS HIGHLY APRECIATE IT BY ME... IT'S NOT BAD.

  • Nice review, but you neglected to mention the terrible music, and the lack of flats (Notice how the floors are ceilings are all 1 color).

  • @MoltenMustafa

    there is no ceiling

  • Well 2 top comments they can fit another... 32X HELL F)@*$&$ YES

  • You didn’t reference the music once!?! Just...wow. Instead we get you masturbating to the red cartridge.

  • did he say I-D software? its id! wtf..

  • @HardShitGMod because its called id software

  • @HardShitGMod A lot of people say that becuase they don't know its named after Sigmund Freud "id" which is part of the brain, they named it after that for their company.

  • @HardShitGMod Who Fucking Cares? But I Prefer Saying I-D.

  • @HardShitGMod I used to think it was ID software too. It's an honest mistake.

  • @HardShitGMod it is I-D... The original name of ID was "Ideas from the Deep" but they think it was to long so they take the first letters of the first and last word and they create I-D Software

  • @HardShitGMod How ever you pronounce it, it's still the same

  • @HardShitGMod ??????????????????? no its not

  • @HardShitGMod

We all know it's ID, but I still call it I-D Software, because every time I say ID it sounds like something I'd continually say when I'm on some new sanity pills.

  • @HardShitGMod until about a year ago i thought it was I-D my whole life.

  • @HardShitGMod So what?

  • WTF No Top Comment I Say Like It

  • xbox live arcade version? DUDE the only way to play doom is on PC

  • @MrEvol94 lol u stole that comment from the other guy

  • @gamezonic

No I didn't even watch the comments below.

  • @MrEvol94 in doom for sega 32x

  • @gamezonic

Must just been a strange coincidence, the only sega 32x video I have seen on youtube is the AVGN review and it was a long, long time ago since I watched that video xD

  • I remember, when I had 5 years, my sister downloaded it on the PC (a great game for the PC, I think) and I was so scared :D I was not afraid from the monsters, I was afraid from the sounds, the head of my guy (the health&armor&ammo bar, in the middle there was a head) and that time I was afraid from the shitty graphics :D:D:D

  • @winlover37

Really? You call it playable? The graphics don't really bother me ( although you can't see anything in the distance at all) but the delay in the controls and the extra bugs.. like getting stuck on a wall are just to bad.

  • it sounds like he is doing a very poor job of reading a script when he speaks

  • you know why I like DOOM 2. Because it has THE DOUBLE BARRELLED SHOTGUN. Oh so satisfying

  • i'd say get doom off of steam becasue the PC is the real way to play doom

  • This port of Doom was perfectly fine for people back in the day for people who only owned a Super Nintendo. I like how it has all three episodes and has a great soundtrack unlike the 32x version that scrapped most of the levels and has an AWFUL soundtrack. The SNES port is playable after getting used to it, has all three episodes, has the best soundtrack, PLUS you could play this version with other people across the world (via dial-up) using Xband and could play deathmatches and co-op.

  • i play doom on 360 arcade

  • @drew700boo better on pc

  • witch doom is closer to the pc version i have ps2(also plays ps1) sega saturn game cube n64 ps3 x box and xbox 360 no xbla psp ds gba also which is better for duke nukem 3d
  • witch doom is closer to the pc version i have ps2(also plays ps1) sega saturn game cube n64 ps3 x box and xbox 360) psp ds gba also which is better for duke nukem 3d
  • To my knowledge the best console version/port is the Playstation One. It runs just as smooth as the original PC version and is the best looking version besides the PC. Infact I played the PS1 version before I played the PC one. On the disk you have Ultimate DOOM and DOOM II. Some levels have been cut but some new exclusive ones have been added. It also has a new eerie soundtrack which makes it have a much more horror feel to it, lighting has also been toned down to add to this.
