I don't like the Mets, but you know that they would have been somewhat respectable if they didn't lose Beltran, Reyes, Delgado, Putz, and Santana to season ending injuries.
Well, they have the second highest payroll in the sport and they finish with a losing record. Yes, they had lots of injuries but they have underachieved in recent years even with all of their stars healthy. But do not overlook the Mets in 2010. They could challenge the Phillies for the NL Pennant. No kidding.
@spgarrett theres no way they will challenge the phillies with that sorry pitching staff and now they are relying on gary matthews lmao. Minaya is the worst gm right next to cashman, they overpay for everyone
Hey Cashman wasn't responsible for all of those bad contracts a few years ago. That was the boss George Steinbrenner. When George was i full control after his suspension in the early 2000's he had his own faction in Tamap and Cashman had to follow is orders. So blame Steinbrenner not Cashman. Cashman is actually not that bad. Sinc he became GM in 1998 he has had 4 championships under his reign. Can't say the same for Minaya.
The New York Mess, I mean Mets are as useful to baseball as a screen door on the space shuttle! They need to fire the entire front office, and replace them ASAP!
The mets fired the manager, and the GM, so things might get better.

@spgarrett It doesnt matter how high the payroll is, when all the guys on that payroll arent playing your not going to compete.
