  • I love Noomi. I think she's really awesome in the Millenium Trilogy. The American remake will be a hit just 'cause it's by David Fincher. I like Daniel Craig but I don't think Rooney Mara did as well as Noomi.

  • I refuse to see this Hollywood version as a form of protest. The Swedish movie is very recent and well done. Surely the actors of the american version are gaining much more attention from the media because of the huge marketing around this new version, the presence of "James Bond", but nothing to do with more talent or originality.

  • @agriss2009 you should really see it. i like both versions. they're both a little different from one another. Rapace's Lisbeth is great, as is Mara's Lisbeth.

  • She was marvellous in every film. Her face!

  • Hoolywod do it just for the money, there`s no need to remaking an excellent movie like the MIllenium series! i hope Hollywood won`t ruin Noomi Rapace`s career

  • haha, that's a nice way to say hollywood films are too simple and suck. it's true.

  • mainstream is not her scene, guess who has the lead role in new RIdley Scott's sci fi movie ;)

  • what an amazing talented actress she is :-O

  • I would really like to see a lot more of Noomi in the future time!

  • I'm American and I have to say, it was such an idiotic decision to remake such a incredible movie like this one. Noomi Rapace was so brilliant in this role, and really breathed life into this character. I think it's ridiculous to remake a film that never needed to be remade. I can read so I'm not afraid or too lazy to read subtitles, and when a movie like this is remade for American consumption, its insulting, it means American's are too lazy or too stupid to read and we're not.

  • After this she makes me wanna be an actor soooooooo much more. Got a lot of respect for her and will be watchin girl with the dragon tattoo and the others. :D

  • 8 people never learnt how to read, and are frustrated to be in the incapacity to read the books...

  • Great actress can't wait to see her in Ridley Scott's Prometheus.

  • A truly wonderful actress. Lisbeth is one of the best movie characters of the last 10 years. Smart, intelliegent and hard as nails.

  • I love you Noomi!

  • gotta admit..i'm surprised she can step on a public train without 20 guards around her...

  • wow what a true actress!!! After reading all three parts and watching all three movies I am a little disappointing that Hollywood feels the need to try to recreate something that is darn near perfect. I mean I really don't think any actress can play the role of Lisbeth as well as Noomi did and I seriously doubt the actress that Hollywood chose for the American version is going to even come close to Noomi's performance. We'll just have to wait and see how badly Hollywood fucks this up...

  • She makes me wish I was Swedish. And I like how she doesn't like mainstream stuff. Most of the movies I watch aren't mainstream. But iv'e decided that if they insist on making an american version they need keira knightly, winona ryder, or Helena Bonham Carter. Especially Helena. All three of them actually know how to play good dark roles. But nonetheless, no one will ever be a better Lisbeth than Noomi. :)

  • Swedish punk rock? Hmmm, wonder if she likes the Varukers, Mob 47, Skitsystem, Wolfbrigade, etc...

  • Oh my gosh, she's so cute! Can't really tell from the movies what she's really like. Amazing actress.

  • ah! c'est celui d'hélène et les garçons à la fin dans le métro !!!!!!!! :o

  • i love everything about her.

  • Americans wish they were as cool as Swedish people. Stay with ur hollywood films and ur Angelinas and jeniffer lopez' Nd dont mess with the good stuff yanks!

  • Me encanta Noomi!

  • i 'am glad she wants to work in Europe and not in the USA. I think she is one of the best actresses we have at this moment. Let's hope we will see a lot of great, interesting and complicated movies with her playing a main part in it!

  • Definitely shocked, what a gorgeous girl and superb actress.

  • Uh, Lissbeth did have fake boobs.

  • Seems such a lovely person.

  • The american version will be directed by David Fincher! I don't think that will be shitty, I think it will be a really good movie. That man is a genious!

  • David Fincher's name isn't "Hollywood".

  • LOve U Noomi. (1/22/11 - 10:31pm)

  • Funny back in 2008, many people were outraged at the castings of Noomi Rapace and Michael Nyqvuist... saying that the actors are nothing like the characters and Noomi was too tall for Lisbeth (like the directors are gonna find a talented elf to play) Later, when it was released in 2009, they become beloved internationally (esp. Noomi). And now the people are reacting the same way towards the American version. Just wait until December. We'll see. I pray that Fincher will not disappoint us.

  • why are everybody so anti-american? fucking proud patriots, get a life

  • @MuayThaiViking Because amaricans is so fucking proud of themselfs?..

  • @Schostet not from what ive seen. here in europe we are so busy talking about how arrogant and patriotic they are. we are soooo obsessed by showing them that we are superior, intelligent, bla, bla and bla.. its getting old and boring

there is a reason why american movies are so popular around the world. they are good at it, just admit it and swallow your pride (obviously being an english speaking country helps a lot, since its easier to ''accept'' that language than, say, swedish). but still

  • @MuayThaiViking I'm from europe too (Sweden actually) and I don't think "we" are as you say.. I think we are just as much patrioits as the americans are. But at the same time; you can't draw a line and put all the people over the line.. I think it's more common for americans to say that they are proud of their country than some europeans are. If I say that I'm proud of Sweden and proud of being a swede, then people will think that I'm a rasist or a nazi..

  • @Schostet Proud swede = racist and nazi?? man and i thought it was bad here in denmark.. its hard to say anything nowadays without being labeled as a racist

anyway whatever. im just sick of the mainstream anti-american opinion, at least in denmark. 99% of my friends with that opinion havnt even been in the US

  • @MuayThaiViking Yeah, well, it depends on who's the one hearing you say it and such. It's all fucked up, this thing about being a racist and such just because you like your country. The thing I am most annoyed about is that the "other people" who are not from Sweden is allowed to say that they love their country and that they hate Sweden and swedes without being called racists.. It's messed up.

I don't even know why I commented in the first place; I was just bored actually! But oh well.

  • @Schostet Swedish isn't a race, and neither is American...but okay.

  • @vintagemarilyn I haven't said so either. Read what I wrote one more time, if you don't get what I meant; ask again and I can explain what I mean. Kay? :D:D:D:D:D:D

  • you all know that not some hollywoodhillbilly is doing the remake but david fincher right? besides he doesnt remake the films, he's doing the books. has anyone seen the "remake" yet? why turning books into films btw if the books are better? stupid arguments.

  • After seeing Rapace in TGWTDT I couldn't imagine anyone else as Lisbeth. She is fabulous. There have been few other roles that I have ever seen that I could say that the actor totally inhabits the character- She does!!

Then seeing her elsewhere I was flabbergasted-so un-Lisbeth-with a really easy, captivating smile and of course her English is wonderful (How is it that Americans rarely know other languages).

If you haven't seen these movies see them with her as Lisbeth- she is the one.

  • What a beautiful woman .... wow...I really hope to see more of her in other movies.

  • Hollywood tries to dumb down movies, especially remakes. I think this is because most americans are stupid.

  • she's the most beautiful woman in the world

  • it seems to me that Hollywood feel the need to make an English version of practically every big foreign film, even though the original film is usually brilliant (like this one) I can't really remember the last time that Hollywood made a film of their own, they seem to always be remakes or movies based on a book :L The Millennium trilogy is Swedish, written by a Swedish author, therefore the film should be Swedish, and there shouldn't be an American remake.

  • @Isabelx0x I totally agree with you! What makes me crazy is that they want to make a duplicate, not just a remake. I recently checked the cast on imdb and daniel craig will be portraying michael bloomkvist. Now the awful thing about it is that they probably chose craig because he looks like the swedish actor... It's just pathetic...

  • @Isabelx0x funny you knock Americans for making a movie based on a book ;)

And this "American" remake is really an English speaking remake... Fincher doesn't mess around and the cast is good.

I loved the books, the Swedish movies and I think this remake will be fine.

Hollywood makes a lot of BAD movies, and remakes some bad ones... I for one will watch it

  • @Isabelx0x

    You're completly right.

  • @Isabelx0x ,I m not Swedish but you are right! The Millennium trilogy is Swedish, written by a Swedish author, therefore the film should be Swedish, and there is no need for an American remake!

  • Jesus Christ, I love these movies and I'm skeptical of the remakes too... but for God's sake, why don't we wait until the American movie is out to judge?

  • God this woman is beautiful. Love the very real responses in this interview. I didn't know about the US remaking the film. It's alright, true fans will know which film is worthy of our attention.

  • I hope she gets the credit she deserves but stays away from Hollywood Studio machine.

  • THE FILM IS PERFECT AS IT IS IN SWEEDISH NO NEED TO REMAKE IT REALY...AND SHE WAS PERFECT.. NOOMI

  • If she thinks swedish society is bad she should live in America. Its horrible here

  • Thank You Noomi for making Miss Lisbeth seem more real than anything. you're the reason I watch these movies, Plus their great.

  • Horrible accent.

  • @RobertHolik

I want to hear YOU speaking German, French, Spanish or Swedish...will be a laugh for us probably....

  • @tausendstein I've spoken fluent english since I was 7 years old. I also speak swedish, german, slovakian, czech and a little serbian. What's your point? I can speak a lot of languages too, anyone can because ANYONE can learn to do so, it's not a fucking skill, just common sense and dedication.

  • @RobertHolik AMEN.

  • @portisalpha haha thanks, yeah, I don't see him or her coming with a comeback anytime soon :)

  • Now thats a TRUE Actor!!

  • Is there somewhere a french version ?

  • A new revolutionary brush with a unique kind of bristles of varying length

and width positioned at a unique geometric distribution,

resulting in easier detangling, reduced hair loss and breakage,

    and minimize the pain associated.

Search eBay for DETANGLER HAIR BRUSH

  • The remakes will be like Warner Brother's trying to "remake" The Sistine Chapel.

  • I really liked the swedish millenium movies, but, you know what? i will love the remake, because, better or worst, is something new of Millenium, and of Lisbeht..!!!

  • @yemass6 its n othing new at all its a remake so old story like cold cofee

  • I think this is the most perfectly-cast role ever. End of story.

  • I believe Fincher will deliver!

  • Noomi Rapace is the greatest actor alive! She is so amazingly powerful and confident!

An American remake will not do justice to the Millenium films, but I hope the remakes might lead some people to watch the originals. that would be the only value of the remakes, ultimately.

  • mmm thats stockholm not Cannes

  • @derblicker I would not recognize where it is, but the title of the clip reads "ahead of Cannes ". "Ahead" means "before".

  • @derblicker actually, looking at it again, I see clearly that it's Stockholm.

  • Thumbs up if you would marry her!

  • David fincher is a great American director but i'm not so sure about the girl who is gonna be playing salander.

  • Go Noomi, go Lisbeth - THIS series of films should be called KICK ASS ! Lol ... Great character, Stieg Larsson is, with his untimely and unfortunate passing, and the smash with the books, now films, a Legendary writer - BUT will his message get across ?

  • perhaps they are making a remake because they know ppl would still pay just to see how badly they butchered the whole thing..

  • Why a remake? Why is hollywood destroying all the foreign movies with remakes? The movie has Charakter an a great Atmosphere!

  • Why make an american remake ? This is perfectly made, whats wrong with subtitles ?

  • A little Swedish girl doing the Niro trick becoming a bisexual Mensa punk streetfighter...

And look at her, she is not a Star but an actress, a normal, intelligent attractive young woman, playing herself down.

The film was great, unfortunately I saw the French overdubbed version.

It is funny to see the mouths saying nej when the sound goes "non".

Other than that, the only thing that bugged me in the film was Lisbeth's murder scene...how could 2 professional killers leave her alive like that?

  • @garbidz yep this is pretty unrealistic still in the books

  • the american remake will tank.

  • thouse rape sciens were AWEFUL. I don't think I was that discusted in a long time. even more points to Noomi for capturing them so accuratly. Man, she deserves an Oscar!!!

  • @barbariss100 Here...let me help you. Those, Scenes, Awful, Disgusted, and Accurately. Add those to your inner spell-checker.

  • @planetrob555 oh.. I geuss I was i hurry. no time to check my english gramar. big thanks from Finland

  • @barbariss100 Ya know, that was rude of me. I am not the grammar police. Please accept my apologies, especially since English isn't your mother tongue.

  • god shes sexy

  • I wish good things for her because her potrayal was gritting and really shook me to the bone, especially the those violent scenes that are discussed

  • hope she steers well clear of hollywood

  • Kinda funny how she kept changing location every time they cut to her. xD She must've thought the people directing this interview were kinda strange.

  • I avoid the word awesome like the plague because it's so detestably overused but there is no other work, Noomi is simply AWESOME...she's intelligent, focused, and incredibly attractive.

  • Beautiful & talented.

  • Noomi kommer ta över Hollywood

  • In my opinion,an awsome actress:D

  • Noomi, you are amazing. Please don't go to Hollywood. You are awesome the way you are!!! You are too good for Hollywood crap.

  • @KorokoMaoriBoy Erm,sarcasm is indeed the lowest form of wit but that was the point i was making...I do make allowances for the fact i am writing on Youtube though.

Please read my comments again and KorokoMaoriBoy; then you will realise i am being just a tadge sarcastic, that is all.

  • She was the perfect fit for Lisbeth Salander.... the film was great and would have been totally different without her... hope this is the start of a grat career...

  • Brazil loves you Noomi

    genial

  • she is amazing and i think this interview is 100% true about Noomi

    Love her and Millennium!

  • she's really got that special aura about her; salander or not. she's amazing

  • Oh no,here comes the CRAP,SEXIST, DUMBED-DOWN U.S. version...I love the Swedish version and Noomi is so cool!!

I wont watch the American film = Lisbeth will be played by a bimbo with fake yellow hair, fake nails, fake boobs, fake nails, fake tanned brown skin, fake lips etc.

I love foreign films anyway; Hollywood is not always the best.

  • @nethersleep Don't know why you think they would cast anybody like that lol. That's just ridiculous ... They cast Rooney Mara. The complete opposite of what you just described.

  • @nethersleep Well apparently you don't know Fincher is directing the U.S. version. And apparently you haven't seen the pictures of Rooney Mara as Lisbeth.

  • @nethersleep I've always liked the European films best.

  • @nethersleep I think Rooney Mara looks badass!

  • sei il mio idiolo!!! *-*

  • Love her! She IS Lisbeth. The U.S remake is going to be rubbish!

  • Yeah fuck mainstream hollywood even though producers & directors will be begging you for projects. Give us more gritty & dark roles like lisbeth salander and your fans will be more than pleased.... I watch tons of foreign flims and this was by far one of the best I've ever seen!

  • She is a real and a great comedian...wish her a long life on screen !

  • she's so badass! i like her

  • Was the rape scene integral to the plot?

  • @Brichi60 It plays an integral part in the next two books.

  • i cried watching her rape scene... she's beyond fantastic!

  • I was really petrified during rape scenes and I admire Noomi that she was able to play them. she great

  • I read the books first, was very skeptical that any actress could get Lisbeth right. But Noomi was perfect. Nobody else should even think about playing this character.

  • wow....I love her even more now :)

  • Lisbeth is such a great character. I watched the first movie yesterday knowing nothing about it, and Lisbeth was the perfect female heroine. You can forget your Angelina Jolie Salt nonsense, it's just bullshit. If you want a female badass who you can believe in, and empathise with, while also be terrified of, choose Lisbeth and her damaged brilliant mind.

  • she should have been Ariadne in Inception

  • how can you hate sweden.....no just kidding but I love sweden :) one day you always hate your home country for anything ^^ shes so cool as lisbeth and as noomi

  • She is so awesome.

  • swedish accent is CUTE

  • I'm american and the Millenium Trilogy is all the rage here too. A friend told me to watch the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. I was blown away! Noomi is so Lisbeth. it's going to be hard to replace Noomi. She set the bar sooo high that anyone other than Noomi can ever be Lisbeth Salander. I'm afraid the American version will butcher it.

  • @rammas2 Exactly what I was thinking. Its too late for me. I've already seen Nooomi. Nobody is going to compare. They should just cast her here, too.

  • She's so strangely sexy.

  • I'm gunna be so pissed when America destroys this masterpiece....

  • MY GOD, SHE IS LISBETH......

  • She makes me want to have a sex wee.

  • Loved the first movie and the actors were perfect! Why an American remake? Money of course but I just dont get it? Lets repaint the Mona Lisa and do a version of the Godfather? Cant we just enjoy a wonderful movie?

  • She made Lisbeth larger than life.

  • An actor as great as her, and riding the subway?! One ticket to Sweden please! :D

  • Du är mer än välkommen (You're more than welcome)

  • She was absolutely amazing as Lisbeth. I can't wait to see what else she'll do.

  • Rapace is so PERFECT as Salander...

I don't how this people have courage to do the american remake... i mean i KNOW it's for the MONEY and not for the ART, but even then i can't imagine HOW they are capable of destroing such a wonderful legacy by Stieg Larsson.

It's as bad as the rape!

    NOOMI RAPACE FTW <33

  • @TheOaksdonsad

    Exactly!

  • @TheOaksdonsad what if its really good?

  • @TheOaksdonsad Comparing a movie being remade to a rape goes over the line as far as I'm concerned. I doubt anyone who's actually been raped would find the two experiences comparable.

  • @TheOaksdonsad After reading the books and then watching the films, I think it's safe to say that Swedish films already did a good job of destroying Larsson's legacy.

  • @aC00Lguy88 you think hollywood could do a better job?

  • She is gorgeous!!

  • yes,and how come I cannot hear what she is saying?

  • @belindabell2 make sure you have both speakers/ headphones on and connected. Her voice is on the right and the narrator on the left

  • NO AMERICAN REMAKE!!! Noomi Rapace was the PERFECT Lisbeth!!! Fav actress = YES <3 =D

  • @xxthexxblackxxrosexx dont watch it then!

  • She's really pretty like this, unlike in the movie.

  • Querida Noomi Rapace me han gustado mucho la trilogia MILLENNIUM,estavas,

güapisima vestida de Lisbeth, haver si pronto haces alguna Película en España,

    me gustaria verla.

un cordial saludo de un admirador CATALAN

    cuidate y se muy feliz.

  • oh please let this tv series come to the US on DVD

  • @notnowplz tv series? Millenium is a movie trilogy =)

  • @notnowplz get it from Amazon.UK and zap your DVD player's Zone restrictions.

You'll find instructions on the net.

That's what I do to get American series on orginal version.

  • Great Actress i loved The girl with the dragon tattoo she did excellent. I have to admit throughout the movie i was just amazed on how hot she was even with the tom-boy persona it was very cool and sexy at the same time.

  • Hon är på Sergel torget ? 1:30

  • the movie was fantastic and I agree the gritty rape scene left no doubt to the horror of such and act...not at all titillating but revolting...just finished the second book...starting the fial and can't wait for subsequent movies to open here...fearful the us version will glamorize it too much...but danial craig is a good choice for male lead...also check out swedish mystery writer henning mankell...great books

  • thumbs up if you do NOT want an american remake. :)

  • @DaedalusPrimrose if it isnt broken, dont fix it

  • @CulinaryOddities well said

  • @DaedalusPrimrose Absolutely! Let's launch a european boycott of the american version!!!

  • @DaedalusPrimrose Absolute no need to remake, I agree with you! Funny Hollywood, they think, they have always to 'translate' european movies to american audience. In fact, american audience has enough good taste to enjoy the original, I suppose.

  • @DaedalusPrimrose Absolute agree with you. Hollywood does not need to 'translate' european movies for american audience, which - I suppose- has enough good taste to enjoy the original.

  • @DaedalusPrimrose

    Agree!

  • @DaedalusPrimrose You should at least RESEARCH the remake before completely ruining it out. Written by Steven Zaillian (Schindler's List), directed by David Fincher and with a stellar cast... You have to be an utter idiot NOT to want the 'remake' (which has nothing to do with the swedish movie and is entirely based on th book)

  • @HalfLifeHalfDead well the swedish version is based on the books too and i dont think USA will do it good. Even shindlers list was a good movie. It was good as it was done the triologie. Hollywood shoulndt make it to crap. Its just moneymaking after the death of Stieg Larsson.

  • @derblicker USA isn't making it. PEOPLE are making it. And those people are quite talented. I think you should just stop bitching about it and wait for the movie to come out. Every person involved in the "american version" is a talented award-winner and i just don't see it becoming crap. And please, don't use Larsson's death as a pretext, that has nothing to do with it.

The Swedish movies too were made after his death and of course were made for money. This is the film INDUSTRY after all.

  • @HalfLifeHalfDeadwell im sure you are bitching arround here.

    Maybe you are pretty prejudiced.

Even they are award winners what should it make better?

Maybe you dont like the europe style of the film or book. Or dont like europe.

Stieg Larsson is dead allready fact. Your are also angry in here and dont want to hear other oppinions. I like the millenium series as books.

Look at the remakes of good Japanes Horror movies and than look at the american Version. Than you will see what im talkin about.

  • @derblicker I am a Bulgarian who lives in Germany. Hating Europe doesn't make much sence, since I am a European. I am not saying the Swedish films are bad, they aren't. I am not saying the books are bad, they aren't by far. Saying however that the books are 'european' by style is pretty ridiculous since Larsson's biggest influence, as he has stated in an interview, are US crime thrillers.

  • @derblicker In fact it is you who are pretty prejudiced, 'bitching' about a movie that you haven't seen the sight of. People make movies, not countries and saying that the movie is going to be bad just because the director is an American is prejudice at its worst. For those that do know a thing or two about contemporary cinema it's clear that it's as if the books were written for Fincher to adapt them on the big screen.

And please, drop the silly horrors, will you? It's silly and out of place.
