I'd never heard of this singer until a few days ago, but wow, what a great voice....and I love the remake. Great video! She's got a kind of Alanis Morissette/Mary Tyler Moore thing going on. She also looks a lot like Mindy, from Mork and Mindy.

Sorry just to be clearer the movie was made in 1979. Get it out it's a hoot but yes the musical was from much earlier. After an off-Broadway debut in October 1967, the show opened on Broadway in April 1968.

This song musically stands on it's own merit regardless of who the singer happens to be. In the same context it would be just as popular if there were no singer, just the music. What makes it so attractive musically is the great underlying samba/spanish rhythm. Remake or no, Serena's true to life version is great. It's the music that counts, if it weren't Oliver would have sang it Acapella.
