At Btn commander's inspection LtCol Christy had me do insp arms and when he grabbed my rifle he held out his hand palm up. SDI SSgt Nucholls looked horrified to see all the little fiberglass slivers stuck in C.O.'s hand from my handguards broken at ICT and not replaced yet. Nucholls took me alone to the pit for at least an hour to dig

  • my dad whent in for training for engineering in 77 he never saw combat but retired as a sgt in 98

  • @thehawk379 Cool! H company, 3rd BN, from September 82-Dec 82. Sgt Chambers, Vietnam Veteran, was my only DI that stayed with us. In fact, all of my DIs were Vietnam Veterans simply waiting to retire. My uniforms were all Vietnam left overs. The Woodland fatigues were new. We still wore white boxers and white T shirts with old chrome domes. Would I do it again? ABSOLUTELY!

  • 8 people didn't pass basic training.

  • Parris Island...Aug '85- Aug '89 0311 Rifleman.

Honor Courage and commitment is what they're taught to do. It's all about protecting the red, white and the blue! Marines will never retreat, break or bend, they're ready to fight, attack and defend. I respect our military, and proud to say,God Bless this country and our brave men and women everyday, I'M PROUD TO BE AMERICAN, I LOVE THE USA !

  • So those are what the good ol days looked like back in the 80's. In the day of the boom box, vhs, 12 channel tv's and Punky Brewster. That was how boot camp looked like, as for me Parris Island 3RD BN ICO '06.

  • Man those were the days

  • @AlexB4455 then why say it?

  • @bigblueowx cause its youtube :/

  • @AlexB4455 u mean where all the cowards hide, grow a pair of plastic balls to say things they would NEVER have the courage to say to someone face to face?

    .

  • @AlexB4455 It's really too bad that u can't see how horribly unfunny it is when people can't even visit & enjoy a patriotic video. just to find someone ruining the moment with nigger, wetback, pollock, Jew, or any other Hitler vocabulary. THEN...when the issue is addressed....have the nerve ...to reply back negatively when THEY started spewing the negative. very, very, juvenile

  • @bigblueowx I think you need to calm down, I respect the marines and I am a Asian/Yugoslavia Australian also in a CADET unit so don't start with me thank you

  • @AlexB4455 lol....ur funny. what u just said...doesn't mean a hill of rotten bean.....yeah...ur all that waaaay over there...like i said...coward hiding behind the safety of the internet. so sad....this back'n forth sqwable ends here...ur a waste of lifes precious time & sperm.

  • GOD bless the HAMMER! I will never , ever forget mine! I dreaded when the HAMMER had the overnight duty, cause all we did was play "fuck, fuck" in the words of the hammer.

  • Do the Marines still do pistol training? I thought only the Navy still does that in basic/boot

  • @lou4brew Not in boot camp, but certain MOS's you need to be qualified with the pistol such as Security Forces

  • @lou4brew no they dont do pistol training anymore in bootcamp...well as of jan 1999 when i graduated...its done in SOI and for certain designated MOS' and or specialized trainings

  • My brother (US Navy ) was on this ship when it hit the mine. The only reason that the ship did NOT sink was because the sailors were highly skilled in damage control. Otherwise, many would have drown. Training and drills gets very boring. It did pay off this time.

  • Is that really SSgt. Trudell? I was in Platoon 3015 Hco. Trudell, Richardson, and Williams. I will never forget them. Helped me become a man. Thank you SSgt. Trudell.

  • any 2115 hotel basic marines mcrd sandiego in 1986. SDI was SSgt. Smith, SSgt.Nicholes, Sgt Clemens, and SSgt Dobbs. the only time we marched good was when chow time came along as are Senior would say.

  • oh man. does this bring back memories... there in 1982.

  • What in the fuks? THey do pistol qual too?? FUk i want the old Marine Corp back!!

  • You gotta be kidding me, the Marines wear pads on their shoulders when qualifying with the M-16's, the recoil is almost non existent. What a bunch of pussies, we didn't need that when I was in the Army.

  • @SunsetSupermanRMB this video is old . the marines have the hardest training of the forces so shut your hating mouth douche bag

  • @marinenick100 Yea, I can tell by the elbow pads their wearing at the range so they won't scab their little elbows.

  • @SunsetSupermanRMB What elbow pads? Fucking bullshit I expect you are referring to the PMI's, that's just what they wear to show that they are PMI's and they don't have pads...... I never got fucking elbow pads, why don't you go out and do something

  • @marinenick100 If you have women going through your bootcamp, its not hard lol. You don't see women in special forces because it is hard. Oops!

  • Comment removed

  • @SunsetSupermanRMB you are SO badass man. you are a REAL man and we all wish we could be like you. JUST KIDDING FAGGOT a real soldier doesn't show jealous and spiteful feelings towards your fighting brothers from other branches. you are talking down to a fellow US soldier. you are not what you were trained to be.

  • @RES1ST0R What military did you join? lol. All branches rag on each other.

  • @Warpath2198 then ill rag on you let me guess, you were in the army

  • @RES1ST0R hey whats wrong with the army I am Army Strong been in for 5 years

  • @ozzygodisgod nothing at all

  • @RES1ST0R thank you I salute you in the best

  • @Warpath2198 mr hardcore can take the recoil of an M16 WOW

  • @Warpath2198 Hell yeah

  • @SunsetSupermanRMB Na the Army has women and stress cards, totally hard.....

  • EYEBALLS!!!!!! SNAP SIR!!!!

GET UR RACKS AND GET OUTSIDE!! now that was funny shit... 80 recruits trying to get out the back hatch with their bunk racks.

Hated the blanket snap very dusty.....

Ready Seat!!!, FEET!!! I hated that shit, always when we were at sling arms, that muzzle constantly wrapped me in the jug.

  • I remember that the worst DI to piss off was the SDI. He had games that you would have never thought of. Made the green belts look like amatuers.

1st Bn Bco USMCRD PI Platoon 1050 30-Jun-87

  • graduated august 6th, 2010, Mike Company, MCRD San Diego

It was hell... we were the last ones to use m16-A2's and used peep sites.

Lol i still remember during field week before a hike, at 0300 in the morning the DI's are waving their little flashlights all over us and blinding us while putting our packs back together.

One time I was really sick when we were drilling. my cough scared other recruits around me, and my DI said:

If you pass out you pass out, no one cares!

  • MCRD San Diego 1973 2nd Batt. Platoon 2110 Drill Instructors: Ssgt. Hatchett Ssgt. Coombs Sgt. Winklepleck Sgt. Jones We were told that our platoon was the first to train in boot with the M-16 A1 and it's newly chromed bolt. All other platoons before us had to train with that mule-kickin' M-14. Anybody else train with the M-14 (IN Basic Training) after December 1973?

  • When I went through MCRD San Diego, CA in 1973, (2nd Batt. Platoon 2110), I thought I was a dead man in the first 48hrs. It was more like, WTF did I do? I'll never forget that first night in a bunk, ha, "night", like 3 hrs. of "sleep" and then hell broke loose again. As far as giving the Drill Instructor a fat lip, I saw what happenned to those guys that thought that they could give the Drill Instructors even a funny look, much less a fat lip. It's called M.R.P. (Motivational Rehab. Pltn.)

  • i'd like to see these idiots yell at my face..i'd give them a fat lip in a heartbeat.

  • @acenspades Haha, two of my Drill Instructors were blackbelt instructors. You give them a fatlip, they give you a trip to the hospital and a court marshal. Funny stuff man.

  • @wvufanngarner. Do you speak English? The only thing in your comment I can understand is something about you kissing your dog's ass.

  • Except for the cammies and music aint much changed in the past 30 years.

  • that face on the drill instructor at the end is priceless...."please don't say anything dumb" hahaha.

  • WTF Sgts and SSgts with like, 2 or 3 ribbons...not much was going on in the 80s huh?

  • @dustylefou Iran / Conta ordeal, real sleeper kinda time

  • @dustylefou You say that like their service don`t mean shit...So what the fuck, nothing was going on.They suppose to go start a war or something,I served in the 80`s and didn`t do shit,I would have if called upon.If you have served in combat, good for you.I totally RESPECT that but don`t act like billy badass just becouse the Marines who served in the 80`s didn`t go to war,we were there to be called upon,If you are a Marine you need to show a little more respect for your Marine brothers....

  • @teufelhunden5811 my dad enlisted in 1984 or 85 and he fought in desert storm so some marines saw some combat, but the only combat my dad had saw was when a mine hit his boat USS Tripoli.

  • Comment removed

  • @e081194eng My dad graduated from san diago and was a reservist.

  • @altoids79762 Also, My MOS was 0311 Rifleman.

  • @teufelhunden5811 Not downplaying anybody's service, just hate it when SNCOs talk about "how hard they had it" (isn't that what everybody says? :) ) in the 1980s, and how high quality the NCOs of back then were compared to today, when they weren't fighting two wars at once.

  • @dustylefou Your right it really starts to sound lame and misguided. May be they were trying to prove a point by saying wow it was soo tough they were back in the 80s in the marine corps , you know with the surplus budget, new weaponry, A renewed american patriotism, no constant proxy wars to fight, you know they must of had it hard really hard in the 1980s.

  • Platoon 3091 Parris Island 20Nov85

  • not crazy enough for that shit!!! went in the navy to give the marines a ride to the beach, and give them some air cover.

  • could've done without the cheesy music.

  • @OneRadRudeboy it was the 80's everything was cheesy.

  • PLT 1072 Parris Island 15 Nov 1982

  • his SDI heard that and smiled. Can't help the gain of pride at any corner of your tour.4 years or 40 years. PI or Hollywood Marine. It don't matter.

  • Too slow,,,,,, get back! LOL

  • Nasty 2nd Battallion. You're no PRIVATE until you graduate...freakin nasties.

  • MCRD Parris Island PLT 3015 Feb 1986.. The Drill Instructor @0:44 was my Senior Drill Instructor. The Lt. Col doing the inspection was the Battalion Commander.

  • cool

  • Graduated USMC boot camp in '83. Brings back alot of memories. Thanks!

  • THe inspecting officer at 2:12 was my battalion commander at PI, Lt. Col. Christy. The platoon he was inspecting was trail series in our company. Good to see this again.

  • Interesting observation: versus the recruits in ears open eyes click, these guys look stronger, faster, generally in better condition. The nintendo generation. Example - the pugli stick fight in EOEC was pathetic. Before anyone asks...1117 Alpha Co. 1996 grad of U. PI and then became an officer. Obviously I was an 0352 for a while.

  • only steers and queers come from texas and you don't look like a steer to me!

  • MCRD is OK...but Parris Island, SC are where the REAL Marines are made!

  • @ledman096 Parris Island, SC is a MCRD I think you mean MCRD San Diego, CA

    M-Marine

    C-Corps

    R-Recruit

    D-Depot

  • @streetjunkie2086 yeah, I meant to say MCRD SD< as that is the topic here on the video, but I was assuming everyone would know that ...it's a joke Marines toss around about "real Marines" only come from MCRD Parris Island...as that's where I did my BT.

  • @ledman096 you did your "BT" there?, last time i Heard it was called "boot camp" in the Corps and it does not matter where your do your boot camp, Marines are Marines and earn the title the hardway just like you sand fleas get at PI and what us Hollywood Marines get at San Diego. I like to believe Hollywoods have it tougher because we climb a steep mountain called the reaper. Sand fleas get to hump across flatland, must of been tough.

  • @ryecheese999 Yes, I did...boot camp...yes...don't get all upset, I was just kidding around. I respect Marines from SD just as much as I do from PI, we are all brothers doing a job for our country.

  • @ledman096 Im not upset son, dont worry.

  • @ryecheese999 lol...Dad??? I am not worried, I just wanted you to know I was NOT trying to be a Dick. And I am probably close to your age.

  • @ledman096 not your dad, 29, gunny.

  • @ryecheese999

lol...ok Gunny...I am 43, so you could be MY son, lol, I was honorably discharged E-4 1990

  • @ledman096 Cpl.Ji****en Bco 2nd AAV Bn FMF/ EAS Dec, 89. Was a sand flea i guess too. lol. Boot in dec 27-mar 23 Bco ptl 1024. You ever see many 29yr old gunnys? He must be Chesty's great grand-kid. Hollywood Marines have a complex cause they hear it so much. My brother-in-law is 19yrs in and just did get CWO2 from SSgt. If he got Gunny in 12 years, I'll kiss my dogs ass. Semper Fi and YAT YAS.

  • than tell them its time to join

  • I graduated from MCRD San Diego on July 25th, 1980...Platoon 2040...great video

  • Plt 3073 LIMA Co, Nov 1982. MCRD San Diego. We won final drill and was named Honor platoon. So our SDI took us to the theater for a movie about a week before we graduated. Man I hated Boot Camp.

  • 3262 mike co 2009 :)

  • i love those shooting jackets the instructors wear, i'm bout to see if i can find one online.

  • Damn this video takes me back. Graduated MCRD San Diego March, 1989.

During the Battalion Commander's inspection the Battalion Sergent Major asked me the question from the vid: "what part of recruit training was the toughest?" My mind went totally blank and all I could come up with was that it was tough getting used to getting up so early in the morning! Felt like an idiot for that one

  • im in marine corps rotc our SMI was a DI and SDI at Paris Island for 12 years... I DONT LIKE INSPECTIONS!

  • Platoon 3075, India Company MCRD San Diego, July - October 1985 here. Semper Fi!

  • I concur rurede71. This seems to be a compilation of videos pieced together. The last clip of the Lt.Col. inspecting the recruit was from the same video my recruiter showed me and the rest of the poolees back in 1990. I remember it in detail and it was narrated by Gerald McRaney.

    Platoon 3052 "M" Co - September 13, 1991

    SDI - GySgt Townsend

    DI - GySgt Williams

    DI - SSgt Cook

  • Plt. 1047 1st Bat. Bravo Co.! Oorah! Lt.Col. Kastner was also my Battalion Cmdr! That vid of him at the end was the same one my recruiter, Sgt. Rodriguez showed to all of us poolees!

  • I graduated PI 901214 plt. 3119. SDI Sgt. Altemoos and heavy was Sgt. DeVaney who is now a Sergeant Major, and currently serving in Iraq. Technically 1990 is the 1980s as 1991 is the first year of the 90s. Anyway devil dogs, this video was the most remisciscent of my experience. There's a good current San Diego receiving video. The Corps still has the ethos although certain things like uniforms, and even emphasis on "Aye Aye" rather than just "Aye" might change.

  • platoon 1078 july, 1984

" get in the fuckin pit"

  • Hey GARfredable, the officer at the end at that time is LtCol. Kastner. Back when I was in boot camp in 1990, he was my Battalion Commander. 1st Battalion, Delta Co., Platoon 1049. Ooh-Rah!!! Semper Fi!!!

  • We were the last to use the m16 a1 at mcrd san diego. 1985.

  • wat rifle do they use now?

  • They use the m16 a2 and the beretta 9mm pistol replaced the 1911 45 cal.

  • 16a2's have just recently been replaced with the a4's. I think they're still in the process of phasing out the A2.

  • the same fucking rifle jackass

  • damn just askin

  • @tamapalagi We were the first to use the M-16 A1 at MCRD San Diego in December 1973. All other platoons before us used the M-14. Mule-kickin' B-i-t-c-h!

  • i love the officer at the end, can't wait....

  • i love the end haha drill instructors looks at him hahahah lol

  • 1:48 - Gotta miss that 1911 still in service!

  • @purpleravenstar beretta is as appealing as gay porn! looks like a bb gun!

  • How often do Marine Riflemen train on pistol marksmanship, compared to rifle marksmanship ?

  • not everyone does pistol qualifications. usually just staff NCOs, officers, MPs and corpsmen. they qualify annualy with both unless a certain unit dictates more often

  • Depending on their billet but annually!

  • Normally, you take them together. You get a ranking on both. When in BC, you will automatically get 250 and work your way up to Expert. Marksman is just enough to qualify (lowest passing ranking). When you take your yearly evals, you MUST get a passing score. As your ranking changes, so will your medals. If you got a Sharpshooter at BC, but get a Marksman on your yearly, you must remove your Sharpshooter badge and put on your Marksman badge.

  • holy shit that boot made his sdi smile. Semper fidelis brothers!

  • What happened to the SDI's tie?

  • This must have been the late 80's because in 1983 we wore white t-shirts.

  • Yes, we did wear white t-shirts and white boxers. This has to be in the late 80's.

    Semper Fi Brother!

  • We wore green t's in 85.

  • we didnt get to shoot pistols, wtf thats bullshit. 3211 I co

  • But shooting pistols, is a major take during Training.

  • What was that just the recruit Training?

  • and infantry training battalion

  • yep

  • yeah ik dude

  • Oh fuck yeah old corps!!! Old jungle camies, black jungle boots you had to polish. None of those lame ass looking pajama camies! Old corps looked bad ass. Being in when they transitioned to no polish boots and ridiculous looking camies sucked.

  • at :23 is this the same DI from ears open, eyeballs click??

  • no...these drill instructors are from the mid 1980's

  • Ears Open DI is Michael Nichols.

  • Go to college first , you get more respect.

  • Not necessarily so...

  • 1:49 the only thing the Marines got screwed over on....no more 1911's.

  • should i go to college to become an officer or inlist into the marine corp

  • ima go to college to be an officer....

  • "I'd rather be an outstanding Sergeant than just another officer."

  • Taxi anyone?

  • oh...my...god...it hasnt changed in 30 years...ahahahahaha ooh-rah,semper fi
