  • The soundtrack for this is now selling on amazon for something like $80.. what the hell. :(

  • @MaddieA94 Pending your browser (If its Chrome or Firefox.), just install a Youtube MP3 downloader add on in your browser.

  • A favorite as a kid. Revisiting it brings back so many memories. :) Glad to see im not the only one who loves this film.

  • Great movie! I liked the nostalgia critic review and tim curry is awesome

  • This is a movie that I grew up on, and loved. And when I have my own kids, I'll make them watch it.

  • I grew up on this movie! The music was absoultly beautiful!

  • Good lord, memories!

  • as a kid this was great!

seeing the story and everything now... weird XD

  • I've never even heard of this film before so maybe the advertising failed the film's success as well.

  • Don Bluth where the hell are you!?

  • WHY DOES THIS HAVE 4 DISLIKES?!

  • @XxAmayaSanxX Cause those people will never get a pebble from their love?

  • I really want my boyfriend to give me a pebble so that I know he wants to be with me and me alone... wonder what would happen if I gave him a pebble... is that even allowed?

  • My husband gave me a pebble. I wear it on my finger every day. :P

  • @zekumi Lmfao cute one :3 -VKX559-

  • My favorite part of this song has always been Hubie's fantasy wedding. The penguins behind Hubie look so sweet, supportively edging him forward. Their voices blend together so beautifully. I always rewind the "Do you?" "I do" part (starting at 4:08) everytime I see this! It sounds incredible.

  • Ironically the pebble was an emerald but Marina still rocks for caring more about Hubie than the pebble, props

  • I like that the girl penguin said she cares about the penguin more than the pebble. Good for her! It should always be like that...

  • why can't real men be like those penguins? ¬¬

  • @regularRay Because real women aren't like those penguins either.

  • @JonahMightDie touche.

  • this 10xs better than happy feet thumbs up if you agree

  • I mean, just look at them! They all look like really gentle and kindhearted guys whom any penguin girl would be lucky to have. And they pick the girl they like, but the outcome depends on whether or not the girl likes the pebble.

  • Aw, those male penguins are so sweet and romantic.

  • So sometime between this movie and Happy Feet, all these penguins developed Mexican accents.

  • I love Don Bluth! He makes the sweetest movies!

  • how is happy feet a rip off?

happy feet was based on a true story about a penguin that washed up on Australian shores, rehabilitated, and released back to the wild.

I Love the pebble and the penguin AND Happy feet because they are completely different and completely wonderful.

  • @shallwegooverthehil they do share some traits but there still both good vids. like singing and danceing flightless birds, stones, miss understood main charicter, you know that kind of stuff

  • @FunnyLittleRedHead ya they do share traits but that's because its based on penguins you know. Penguins do these kind of things as searching for their perfect mate through some kind of tradition. i'm just saying that happy feet ain't a rip off to the top comments. . . like they'll see it cause i didn't post it as a reply but still.

  • I now know why I though Happy Feet was awesome, but my other friend's thought it was lame...the movie ripped off one of my favorite childhood flicks!!!! >_>

  • 4 people didn't get the right pebble.

  • I love to sing this song! Best Movie about Penguins ever!

  • I loved this movie as a child. Why did this get such bad reviews?

  • This is one of the best romantic songs that have ever been made for a cartoon! The lyrics are truly beautiful!

  • My favorite part: "Now and forever, as sure as the snow, as long as the ocean roars, I'll love you in a way that ill never begin to outgrow ill now and forever be yourssss."

  • I really need a Hubie for myself!

  • O.M.G.!!! TIM CURRY as DRAKE!!! i just realized this!!

  • @miyazaki4ever WOW...that took a while.

  • @miyazaki4ever: ...oh my god. How did I never notice?!

  • I remember different animated movies (from the 80s and 90s) that were centered around fantastic love songs or songs that were just spiritually uplifting. What happened?

  • "I love you in a way that I'll never begin to outgrow." Favorite line. <3

  • This song is immesurably beautiful to me.

  • I love this movieee! :)

  • I sang this song out of nowhere, one day in school. lol. I loved this movie. I remember all the songs. Some girl asked me what I was singing. But she wont understand, she thought it was form Happy Feet. But Pebble and the Penguin is the best movie.

  • I don't know why they don't doing its to the animation Cartoon. I love its very classic Cartoon & Nice song...

  • This brings back memories :)

  • I love this movie, it's so unfair how badly it was rated in the box office. It's simple in plotline and the songs are a little bit cheesy but that's part of its charm. It's sweet.

  • i gotta admit some off the female pengiuns look jessica rabbit gorguese ,or am i just weird? lol

  • As much as I like the movie, I just wish they didn't draw the penguins so...weirdly. I mean, I've never been a big fan of animals with human qualities like "hair" or anything. It would have been alright with the clothes like scarves but, really, the penguins just look...so strange.

  • I love this movie so much my girl and i watch this all the time because it reminds us of... Well us i guess lol and i watch this more than she does because when i was lil i would watch this day and night

  • I love this movie, I can watch it over and over. When I was younger this was the only movie I would watch. I used to know most of the lines by heart too. My friends get annoyed when I say the lines before the characters in the movie say them. Oh well, I love this movie. <333333

  • @Sittingonthestars lol i do that with lots of movies, drives my husband insane! lol

  • Thumbs up if you love this movie and don't understand why it didn't do so well critically and commercially.

  • @checkers440 The reason it didn't do well critically is because the story-telling is clumsy and clunky, without a fluent flow in the plot. There are other flaws and errors in the set-up of the world, some of the concepts and sequences in the film. If you and 50 others personally enjoy it, that's fine, i have a soft spot for it in places too - but the reason it does not get critical success is because as a film it fails in its storytelling. Any great film-maker will emphasize story-telling.

  • @MrGroogly pish-posh

  • @Kalernor Would you like me to explain how it didn't do well commercially either?

  • Merry Christmas from the Pre-Happy Feet movie, The Pebble and the Penguin. So Hubble and his loving wife, and his penguin children and Rocko the Rock-Hopper is blessing with love for everybody in the Holiday. I love penguin, huskies, Canada, Russia, and the northern and southern poles world.

  • James Belushi was so funny in this movie!

  • Why do the female penguins have such huge ass hips and chests? I was just.. curious about that.

  • Who sings this version? I know that barry manilow and sheena easton sing the end credits version, but I don't reconize the voice talent here. . .

  • The creator took his name off the movie because they animation was supposedly very poor...I don't see it in the movie. It's the same as pretty much every animated movie that came out at the time.

  • @mattblack04 I think the animation is quite good. Honestly I've seen much worse,

I find this type of animation charming :)

  • This makes me want to take up synchronized swimming

  • Happy Feet totally ripped this movie off.

  • @FantasyFan551 In all honesty, and though I do like this movie, Happy Feet did it better.

  • @FantasyFan551 your right for the second a puffon appears and a young pengiun called a flying penguin.

  • @FantasyFan551 I know right! Happy Feet wasn't bad, but P&tP is the best!! :0

  • @FantasyFan551 I know. Don Bluth doesn't get half the credit he deserves.

  • @FantasyFan551 happy feet is emopeor penguin this is adele (spelled wrong i know) penguin and in happy feet the adele is spanish speaking i dont see how it is ripped off from this and i love this so much more than happy feet

  • @FantasyFan551 Lol well I wouldn't go that far. I think they definitely took inspiration from it, certain aspects like the pebbles. But it stands alone as its own movie.

Besides, I love them both. So long as you enjoy it, that's what matters. <3

  • @FantasyFan551 What, because they did an animated movie about talking penguins?

  • Fun Science Fact: While their mates are away feeding, female penguins will occasionally accept pebbles to line their nest from unattached males in exchange for sex.

    Monogamy at its finest.

  • used to watch this 67647865964568364865875 times a day when i was younger

  • This song (when the male penguins started singing) popped up today when my sister was cruising vids dealing with people's top non-Disney songs, regardless of being villain songs or not, and my eyes just shot open and I got this big grin on my face because I still remembered this song somewhere deep in my heart.

  • Did anybody else notice that the music that was written wasn't what the woman was singing? (I play multiple instruments I had to notice!) She sang way higher than the score indicated... not that it's bad I just noticed

  • Not to mention that Don Bluth was frustrated with MGM about Pebble.

  • No wonder Don Bluth lost control of his movie.

  • The long and short of this story:

    "I gave that b**** a PEBBLE."

    "B****es LOVE pebbles."

  • the spanish version of this shit made me talk like a retard when i was a child

  • mate for life? dont they stop for biscuits?

  • I'm guessing this inspired happy feet haha

  • nostalgiad so hard

  • OMGAWD I HAVE THIS MOVIE....GAHHHHHHH MY CHILDHOOD! <3

  • I LOVE THIS MOVIE!! rocko is my favorite

  • this kicks happy feet's butt.

  • @shmoxanne 73h 0n133 |0r0|3 1z |34rr1 |\/|4|\|1|_0\/\/'z |\/|uz1|< |\| 73h |0|-|1|_|\/|.

(the only problem is barry manilow's music in the film)

    {lit. teh onlee prob iz barri Manilow'z Muzik n teh philm.}

  • I loved this movie!

@Malec8rs And no, I was too! Lol.

  • although this is not 'Disney' a beautiful song!

  • omg omg omg i totally forgot about this movie!!!

  • I LOVE THIS!! I USED TO WATCH IT WHEN I WAS 5!! XD

  • Hubie reminds me of the Tacky the penguin books

  • holy shit barry manilow was the supervising composer

  • Why isn't there sheet music for pebble and the penguin?!?! Sometimes I stop the song to try and play the notes on the screen. Wish it wasn't just the lyrical part though.

  • Most. Classic. Dance song. Ever.

  • I lurve this movie and this song!!!! I watched it pretty recently....just listening to this song makes me want to see it again!!

Am I the only one who was absolutely terrified of the leapard seal when I was little?

  • awesome song!!!!!!

  • "It's not the pebble, it's the penguin" - that's my favorite line.

  • When I first heard the song when I was three, I had no idea what they were talking about. lol

What makes this song beautiful is the lyrics after Marina and the girls say "I DO".

Cuz thats how real love is.

  • I adored this movie <3

  • did "happy feet" basically steal this story? with just small details changed.?

  • @cirfia Yes. Mainly, they replaced an underrated actor with amazing pipes (Short) with an obnoxious runt who can't sing to save his life (Wood).

  • @cirfia yes, yes it did.

  • I remember this! I loved this movie, well, I still do.

  • I remember watching this all the time as a kid...loved it...I still love it.

  • Huzzah for monogamy!

  • I love this movie. It's the best MGM film i've ever seen, and it will always be in my memories. Good Job, Don Bluth!

  • 2:54 reminds me of a sex and the city episode... the one that says 'romance has nothing to do with it!' is totally samantha

  • Don Bluth is such a furry...

    ...Man i love his movies

  • beautiful movie!

  • My Boner is confused

  • Comment removed

  • Weird, weird, WEIRD movie. And a staple of my childhood.

...There's a connection waiting to be made here.

  • this is probobly my favorite bad Don Bluth movie, with some clever editing it could actually be a good movie

  • @sonickid101 How dare you.

  • i wonder if this could ever be made into a stage musical

  • I just bought a Penguin Love Pebble , my wife cried. Its awsome you get a gemstone on a siverchain and a certificate, best gift I ever gave .She made more out of this gift than the 8 ct tennis bracelet...who knew. I only paid 20 dollars

I think the website is but I bought mine on ebay

  • My Favorite Scene of all time! LOL 1:56

  • Hhaha, I loved this movie when I was a kid, and I still do!

  • jeg elsker den film!!!!!!:D

  • i noticed when i was a kid that at some point during this song, the gray color over marina's eyes moved down over her mouth. it makes it look like she's got a 5 oclock shadow. you see it at 3:35.

  • @47misty i watched that rewview three weeks ago >_>

  • @janplanet1 he already did it stupid...

  • Aw I cried

  • Yeah! I have this on VHS and, with Russian Dub... xD

  • A russian dub?! That's amazing!

  • yeah this just proves how terrible barry manilow is

  • This song reminds me on Enchanted's take on True Love's First Kiss. "A moment on the lips equals an enternity of bliss." It's a good message.

That said, I get that girls should like guys for more than just the stuff they give them, but why is it okay for guys (like Hubie) to like girls based solely on their appearance (like Marina)? Isn't that a bit of a double-standard?

  • Ya, but I don't think he just likes her for that. Besides, I like this movie cause it shows u don't have to be "hunkales" to get the girl, how often does the girl choose a stud over a dud (no offense to Hubie of coarse). Ya, but maybe there should be a movie where the girl isn't as pretty as she could be that the protagonist wants, that would be cool.

  • @ChasehaWing And the reason I dislike this movie is cause it encourages the double standard that a guy can like a girl for the most superficial reasons, but a girl is condemned as "shallow" for, gasp, wanting the same. I mean, how often does the guy choose the the incredibly gorgeous babe over the rather homely girl he's sitting right next to? (Tis why I like Hairspray, Super Star and Muriel's Wedding; at least they even the odds.)

  • Shark tale, princess tutu, the rest of the penguins in the movie and yyh.u also have to remember that the homey girl doesn't confess so often.

  • @ChasehaWing "Homely" means "unattractive," and the girls in your examples are not so. Secondly, do you not agree there is a double standard in this particular movie?

  • @ChasehaWing

i don't really know what you're talking about, but you said princess tutu so you get a thumbs up!

  • @janplanet1 thats my favorite earnest

  • I have to admit this song isn't that bad. Which still doesn't say much for the rest of the movie.

  • @janplanet1 he did it was pretty funny

  • Is this the movie whee a Pebble fùcks the Penguin?

  • My second favorite Don Bluth song. <3

  • While I agree with the nostalgia critic that this scene didn't make much sense with the penguins being in the sheet music, I don't care. The song is nice, the visuals are impressive, I love this scene and this movie.

  • @cheese4g Yeah, i got what he was saying, but the point of the movie was that it was a musical, kinda like nightmare before christmas, it's kinda like an opera. And while there's were a lot of weak things about this movie, I loved it from an artistic perspective

  • @cheese4g I think because penguins use a "song" to attract mates, like in Happy Feet, it makes sense

  • @cheese4g this scene is one of Don Bluth's best moments

  • @cheese4g why does it need to make sense?! its an animated movie....its supposed to allow you to dream the impossible. God! people and their need to have EVERYTHING make sense...

  • @jeddawiya Exactly. I never understood people who are in love with realism (and in hindsight my comment kind of makes me look like one of those people, sorry about that) when all it does is stand between people and having fun. Hell, all throughout his Magic Voyage review, everytime he was ranting about it not being historically accurate, I was screaming at my computer "IT'S A MOVIE! WHY DO YOU CARE!?"

  • @cheese4g For me the Magic Voyage is a PARODY of Colombus's story, it's SO wierd that I cannot watch that movie in a serious mood. I can almost handle that movie, but the Titanic animated movies... That's another thing. One thing is to spoof an historycal moment, another thing is spoofing a tragic disastrer where humans and childs died.

  • @DeepEye1994 there's a difference between humans and children?

  • @painlessissuicide No, just to point that they make a kids movie about a real life event were also childrens died.

  • @DeepEye1994 well Columbus' colonizing of the "New World" initiated the worst genocide in the history of the human race

if anything, making him a cartoon hero is even more disrespectful than a cartoon about the Titanic

  • @painlessissuicide No; We all know that Colombus is the reason of the indians genocide, but Magic Voyage is NOT about the Conquistadors. MV is less offensive than the three Titanic movies by far.

  • @DeepEye1994 a lot of people are in denial about that

  • @painlessissuicide There are much more people pissed off by The first animated movie, the Legend of Titanic and Tentacolino than with the Magic Voyage. Trust me.

  • @janplanet1 He did! watch it now

  • I LOVED this movie as a kid and still love it as a teenager. :P *is pathetic*

  • @Ritsukakun2 You are not pathetic if you love something from your childhood. Heck, I'm 19 and I still love Pokemon.

  • @katjakitty22: ME TOO!

  • I was obsessed with this song as a kid

  • I used to want to name my daughter Marina...

  • I always thought the part where Hubie daydreams about Marina and they sing through it was sooooo cute lol.

  • Comment removed

  • the opening with the consistent image of music sheets throughout the song shows the creative bankruptcy of both the animators and Barry Manilow. just plain awful!

  • omg i remember this movie

  • Sad this made the Samuel Bluth company go bankrupt. This movie was weird but I loved it when I was a kid. The Nostalgia Critic will release his review for this movie in about 15 days from now on the Australian calendar at least.

  • This move is SOOOO underrated.

  • 4:10-4:15 favorite part, amazing chorus harmony

  • Oh boy... lets take a stroll down nostalgia avenue

  • omg i always love that song when i was a kid..:) stilllove it...:)

  • Is it just me, or is Marina a bit of a show-off and Hubie a bit of a stalker?

  • Gawrsh I remember seeing this when I was just a kid! O_o

  • im sure everyone already knew this but i just learned that the music s done by the Irish Film Orchestra sounded funny a musical of penguins in the cold arctic done by folks from Ireland which is very green

  • this feels like a broadway musical... the choreography, the singing, the acting, it feels EXACTLY like a musical on the stage....

Was it ever on the stage? Cuz it should be :)

  • the 90's......

    don't you miss them?

  • i can't wait for the Nostalgia Critic to review this movie
