Such a slow boot for both, My macbook pro 2.8 in 27 seconds, maybe running it on your bed all the time isn't so good for it? I dont want to critiize you for having a powerful machine, but put it to good use. if you find your boot time is lagging, try rebooting more often

Having experience with almost every Powerbook model, other G4's and G5's, I can tell you: there's an issue with it! Haha, seriously. Never seen any Mac boot that slow in my experience.

My friend, actually, the only "system maintenance" you have to perform on a Mac is restarting it when you need to and not running programs that mess up the kernel.

Congrats on your new MacBook Pro, I'm jealous. About your Powerbook though, there must be something amiss with it. My 1.25GHz Powerbook G4 boots in roughly 50 seconds (happy chime to desktop). I'd love to post a video of it (since there seem to be plenty of nay-sayers here), but alas, no cam.

no. my old 1.5 ghz pb had a 4200 60 hd and 768 megs ram and 512kb cache but it booted in 33sec (1 month ago. then the kids had their way with it. not pretty) i kept mine at top notch. cleaned out every system part every weekend and kept it running cool with ice packs underneath.(crazy but made it a fast little bugger)

kind of slow for the newest and fastest macbook pro... compared to my old acer notebook, which was booting within 30secs... However I've just ordered a new series macbook pro online :)

The boot test doesn't surprise me at all. I expect the new macbook pro would be even quicker if you have calibrated the battery and worn it in for a week or so.

that is pretty close, i was using it on the faster graphics but i was not too awful impressed i will admit i had the screen on full brightness. i did have a little more than 2 hours. i was using it pretty intensely though. Like editing this video on my weekly drive to another town about an hour away. The battery is definitely lower than advertised but not that low

dont worry its around 5 hours with everything on high volume backlights etc. so if you just run it how you normally would you ll probably get close to 7 hours
