  • that bass is class the whole energy

  • I remember this song

  • Isso que é ser fã do Youtube estou desde as 10hs ouvindo minhas musicas favoritas amandooooooooo..

  • The female lead is Patty Austin. The guy is James Ingram.

  • @6667779311 Yeah man ,- James Ingram & Q.Jones: Producers of MJ's "Thriller" (& 50 million other awesome Records) Cheers from Germany

  • Damn this song is sooooo tight. I see James Ingram is in the building too.

  • Respect to Q., and Thunder Thumbs...

  • Yes that is greg and rod! Read the credits on the album or cd the musicians on that album was star studded. Michael Jackson sang backup on one or two songs as well as Stevie Wonder writing and playing on a song or two. You be surprised who played and sang what.I could tell u but I want you to be suprised and wonderfully shocked lol

  • They have been married for many years back during the end of MS tv show

  • I Love QUINCY JONES!

  • @raqdreamer me too...

  • @raqdreamer me too...

  • What on earth was QJ doing on stage, jumping up and down like a court jester. Just seemed like he wanted the world to know he wrote and arranged the score. Couldn't leave the kids to take all the glory could he...

  • that bass man :D

  • Wait a minute--Peggy Lipton from the Mod Squad?

  • Is that Temperton sitting down on the keys and Greg Philiganges on that keytar?..mannnn can you imagine that show?

  • Insane!

  • dat bass!!!! that bass is where it's at!

  • Awesome

  • Quincy is cool but if there was any big time pick up (like in sports) in music history it's when he signed Rod Temperton! Look at all the hits he has worked with Q on since coming on board and how Heatwave cooled off, R.I.P. Johnnie Wilder Jr.

  • @bangurl86 Yep. Rod Temperton essentially made the Off the Wall album with his contributions (the title track and Rock with You among them). You can definately hear the Heatwave-ish bassline in Off the Wall. Rod and Quincy made a great team indeed.

  • DAT BASS!

  • Louis looks like a goddamn animal on that bass when he is slapping! Man, he gets into it!

  • super video!

  • Louis Johnson is the best thing on that stage. By far.

  • 愛のコリーダってクイーンシー・ジョンズのカバーだったですね(^-^) 素晴らしい曲をありがとう、かっこいいな

  • AMAZING QUINCY !

  • This vid is the gift that keeps giving!

  • WAAAAYYYY too much funk for the average person...and all that talent on one stage....doesnt get better then this!!!!!!

  • @guard47 it couldnt be better. im from dominican republic and here we call quincy master of masters.

  • i like the MJ "Workin day or night" horns figure at 4:35

  • @loucas87 thats right.

  • THIS IS AWESOME, THANKS FOR POSTING!!!!

  • That was beautiful, despite Quincy's hot pink unitard top and dancing.

  • The bass line that LJ uses at 4:03 is from the theme song for a movie called "$" (Dollars); one of the dozens of soundtracks that Quincy has done. I remember it being one of the first things I tried to learn on the bass I got for Christmas as a teen.

  • simple amazing!

  • イイ物見せてもらった!鳥肌立ったぜ!!

  • THIS IS MJ AND OTHERS MUSICIAN'S THESE ARE THE PEOPLE BEHINDED THE SECENE'S WRITERS,ARRANGERS,PRODUCERS,SINGERS,MUSICIANS ++A PERFORMER GENIUSES FROM MANY BANDS...EVERYTHING EVEN T.V. AND MOVIES

  • @myfunkyway9

THIS SONG WAS WRITTEN BY A BRITISH SINGER-SONGWRITER CALLED chas jankel, IN THE YEAR OF OUR LORD, 1980.

    LOL!!

  • we use to put this song on whenever we would play hide and seek, great childhood memories

  • quincy is so high on coke, he doesn't even know where he is so hes just like 'um ill dance along then'

  • @azdenmagro Relax is just only 1981. lol

  • @ Lefrog. You got me lmbo with the "Awful dancing: Quincy Jones" comment. He was just jumpin and clappin dance boogie'n!!!! LOL

  • Louis has killer tone over there... And looks like killa :D

  • I think Jerry Hey is giving us a little horn part from Workin Day and Night in there....

  • holy shit i love quincy jones

  • the way Quincey moves you would think he dont know a lick about rhythm,,,,there's a white man somewhere inside lolol

  • omfg the instrumental part ! thx dude for that

  • You would think someone of Quincy Jones standing would dance better!! LOL!! Blonde backgound singer Mrs Quincy Jones at time, not now - she still pretty hot at 64 now!!!

  • @baggers02 Blonde singer = Peggy Lipton... as in Mrs. Quincy Jones (at the time)... as in Mod Squad... as in Lipton Tea fortune.

  • @telescope3 Wow...really didnt know that... thanks telescope3. This is frickin' off the chains!

  • 70's and 80's, nothing better. How friends and I had fun... happy

  • my gosh! what does it take to get music like this these days....classic stuff here!

  • When you make masterpieces like this, produce the best selling album off all time, win the most grammy ever you can dance however you want to i guess lol

  • Had not seen this....oh my god....AMAZING....thank you for putting it up. Holly crap. SICK! What a band.

  • Quincy Jones is one of the best producers ever........

  • magic ,magic, great quincy and all his staff!!! i have the original vinyl and i'm still playng him

  • That bass is off the hook!

  • Thanks for the upload.

  • What a party!!!! Would love to see the whole concert......does it exist? This is the real joy of great live music!!!!!!

  • Do it Thunder Thumbs or was that George that was thunder thumbs and Louis was lightning licks.

  • This song was written by Chaz Jankel, who was in Ian Dury's 'Blockheads'

  • Without any doubt the best orchestra conductor/arranger in the world...not the best dancer :D

  • como la original ninguna... hoy me siento retro!

  • What year is this?

  • fwd:awful dancing : Quincy Jones

  • @TejanoStlye Go easy, that's not Quincy's "forte". Respect the fact he's a great producer.

  • ¡Ah my raza y su energía musical tan contagiante, chevere!

  • I really to the nth power love this song. Don't know what it means but who cares!

  • LJ licks bass wicked even when the rest of the band sound loose he stays on it with technicality

  • Wish I was on stage with these guys or even just in the crowd

    OMG!! Classic

  • Modern Version Ai No Corrida + Stormtrooper = Japan

  • is that Greg Philligains on Keyboard?

  • a classic. well done Mr Jones

  • 懐かしいなあ・・・。クインシーも若さいっぱい。私の記憶違いじゃなければ、tsは、G.Young じゃなかったですかねえ。

  • What Quincy had in music talent he lacked in dancing skills! hehehe

Toots Thielmans! Louis Johnson!! Great video

  • Great song!!

  • this was dumb

  • I'm pretty sure the flat vocals are courtesy of current (back then) wife, Peggy Lipton Jones. ;) What on earth was he thinking? "Hey babe, why don't you come tour with us". Also, this video proves that you don't have to be a square white dude to dance poorly. :)

  • Ai No Corrida , the phrase actually translate loosely to " Bullfight of Love "

  • does anybody know what ai no corrida means.

  • @coreykyle3

The phrase "Ai no corrida" is spanglish and not correct in neither language. I guess the correct translation would be "There's not gonna be any love making". By reading the lyrics of the song there could be a subliminal message there of the other meaning of "corrida" in spanish which is to eyaculate "there's not gonna be any eyaculating".

"Night the lonely interlude just came

    then blow away.

    You know

    girl"

  • i really love this song, but does any body know what ai no corrida means.

  • brilliants song!!!!!!

  • コーラスの真ん中の女性。。名前があー出てこないー^;女子プロレスの可愛い娘に似てますぅ^

  • アジャ・コング?

  • keys : Rod Temperton, Greg Philinganes

    drums : John Robinson

    percussions : Ollie Brown

vocals : Patti Austin, James Ingram

background vocals : Peggy Lipton Jones etc

guitar : Carlos Rios, Toots Thielmans

    bass : Louis Johnson

    brass : Jerry Hey etc

    awful dancing : Quincy Jones

  • aaha ! poor quincy

  • @lefrog2 I just had an orgasm with that lineup. JEZUZ KHRIST!

  • @lefrog2 Didn't see Toots Thielemans in the video.

I know Toots and Quincy played in the same band at their career starts.

    But didn't see him here...

  • @FALCONbe2 - Yeah, but he's definitely into it. I think he knows how badass this performance is!

  • @lefrog2 Damn that was a all-star band hahaha!!!!

  • @lefrog2 LOL

  • Are you fukin Kidding me?

Wow, So many Artists I listened to and loved in my Childhood all on one stage.

    Patti, James, Bros.Johnson, Quincy...

Hearing them along w/ Stevie and MJ on the album is one thing but watching jams like this performed is just pure ecstacy!

  • @theRoyal1 AMEN

  • Those musicians are the ones that put Michael Jackson's music on the map. They even play the horn line to "Workin Day & Nite" in this performance. R.I.P. Mike, but MAJOR props to the folks that did the work.

  • Thank you for sharing !! One of my favorites !!

  • Michael Jackson sings back up on the album version

  • That's James Ingram!!!

  • i love this song too

  • How about the great james Ingram and Patty Austin on vocals (totally awesome)

  • this is an absolutely amazing live performance. *Louis Johnson*, is a thumping God!!

  • @agfagaevert: yes that's a good one. I remember it from the days when I was a teen. do you know the title of that tune? are u sure its from Hancock?

  • ;) nope.

It's from a white guy ( chaz Jankel )whos used to write a lot for Ian Dury : they co-wrote sex and drugs and RnRoll ;)

  • I saw Patti Austin last month in concert. Greg P. was her musical director. She sounded just as good last month as she did on this video. She puts on a very, high energy show. This song brought back many good childhood memories for me. Thanks for the upload! Where can I find this on DVD?

  • EL CANTANTE ES JAMES INGRAN ?

  • '70 or '80's?

  • AI no korida !!! corrida no.

  • Best bassline ever on a song

  • Love the Herbie Hancock bit around 4:15.

  • Even though the recording's not all that solid....it's priceless. Thanks!

  • Q's music has become a part of the universe. His music is timeless.....I'm very inspired by his handprint on music like Michael Jackson's Off the Wall and Thriller albums.

  • He didn't write Ai No Corrida. A British pianist called Chas Jankel wrote it.

  • Wow ! I use to love this song when I was a littleboy but never knew who made it ! There are alot of people in this video who went on to become famous musicians in thier own right . Greg Phillengaines on keyboard went on to become Michael Jackson's music director, James Ingram and Patty Austin went on to become legends of R&B music and Lewis Johnson of the Brothers Johnson did the bass work on alot of Michael Jackson's Off The Wall and Thriller albums. Quincy Jones knew how to pick them !

  • What the fuck is quincy doing? :S

  • あー居残りだ

  • The bass player is Louis Johnson of The Brothers Johnson. He runs a bass workshop, if you want to learn to play like that.

  • Mr. "Thunder Thumbs" himself.

  • the bass on this song is dirty, but unfortunately i think its a pretty damn cheesy song

  • bass dirty???you gonna be kiddin'.

  • dirty = sweet. english slang

  • oh yeah now i get.

    pardon me, i'm italian

  • i think you're cheesy

  • i think ur moms cheesy. in my bed!!

  • quincy took a sample from michael jackson ...if you listen properly you should be able to hear at 4min 32 the same sample as " working day and night' from MJ at 4min 35.....anyway this song is awsome

  • How could Quincy take a sample from Michael Jackson, when he jointly produced the Off the Wall album with Michael.

  • Carlos Rios on guitar

  • 0:54 that was james ingram.

  • And it also looks like Ollie Brown behind John Robinson on drums, the great Rod Temperton on keys and on the far left of the trio of background vocalists is Quincy's then-wife Peggy Lipton Jones. This is was truly an all-star lineup. As I said, Q always used the very best and you can still hear that quality in his productions some 30 years later. Quincy Jones is simply an icon who has lilterally worked with all of the greats for almost 6 decades.

  • Man this is nostalga, tracks like this bring tears to my eyes I stomped and learnt bass playing to these songs.

I so wish this era was here life was simple in those days.

  • If this bassline doesn't make you want to get up and dance nothing will.

  • play a bass chords e#bm5d#1c#

  • Michael Jackson also sang background on "The Dude"

  • From Q's ' The Dude' album in the 80's. Assembly of the greatest musicians of our time.

Quincy, James, Patti, Greg, Louis, John. I just don't recognize the lead guitarist, percussion & back-up singers.

  • the bass player is unbelievable, that guy can make u feel the real groove!

  • depailler80: That is the legendary Louis "Thunder Thumbs" Johnson from the Brothers Johnson, one of the best bassists ever. His unique "slapping" or "thumping" style is his trademark. He played on all of Quincy Jones' productions during the late 70s & early 80s. You also see other great musicians like keyboardist Greg Phillinganes and drummer John Robinson from the later version of Rufus & Chaka Khan. And of course Patti Austin & James Ingram on vocals. Q always used the very best!

  • definitely one of the greatest bassist ever. and he got the spotlight by Q, you can hear the bass very clearly pumping on all the rythmy

  • Look for the cover version of Chipper.

  • ohhhhh... ai no corrida..... best song....

  • Great great bassLine!!!Oh God...

  • word!

  • I have the 12'' version of this on cd. Patti Austin and James Ingram are a great pair. This song was hot back in 1981.

  • Wow! Thanks for posting this!!!

  • Indeed.. WHAT A BASS!

  • indeed! the bass line in the chorus rules!

  • Oh MY... what a BASSLINE!!!

  • Love da GONG!

  • i love how he enjoyed being on the stage... :D

  • BRAVISSIMO!

  • Vocals by Patti Austin and James Ingram

  • Killer bass!

  • Who can forget the awesome male lead vocal talents of Mr. James Ingram? I can see that bearded 'puppy dog-eyed' brother from wayyyyy back. The Q was grooming him for "Baby Come to Me" and "We are the World" songs. Nice suprise on this clip thanks for posting! Might want to tag his name for other fans to discover as well.

  • Great performance from musicians and singers,Quincy's dance skills are not so good !!!

  • Nobody Thumps that thing like Louis!

  • great!!!!!

  • SWEET !

  • smokin

  • Does anyone see "Earth, Wind & Fire style of music here???? Remake done a couple of years prior to now by "United Nations".

  • Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

Larry Graham has been known as the founder of Slap Bass for years. He goes as far back a Jimmy Hendrix as his bass player. He has been "Slappin" since he was 14-15 and he's 63 now. Everyone else must pay homage to the King.

  • So, whats Graham got to do with this video !? Johnson the "king" here, dude!

  • Om My God! The Bass, The Bass. Super, super, super!

  • Had I been Mr Johnson's bass during this gig I would have filed a lawsuit, seriously!

awesome performance, cheers me up everytime.

  • Damn all star personnel of funk..Mtume with the rick james do and John Robinson on drums..Thunda thumbs on bass..Mouse and Rod "Off the Wall/Thriller/Always and Forever/Razzamatazz Temperton on Keys. Jerry Hey..Gary Grant and God knows who else on Brass ..Patti Austin and James Ingram on leads ..Peggy Lipton Jones on Backgrounds and Q...when i grow up, i wanna be just like Q

  • Greg Phillinganes on the keys as well!!!

  • Hey man..."Mouse" is Q's Nickname for Greg...I'm a Q buff man...so it's just one of those thangs...but I'm a key player so I would not dare to leave him out. Peace!

  • AMEN BROTHER!!!

  • i wonder, is there a chance to find full video ~_~"

  • Is this after Quincy worked with Luis Johnson on Thriller or Off the Wall?

  • this album came between the two..and mike did bkgrds on here on the dude..see the State of Indepenence video by Donna Summer..that all star lineup birthed the concept of We Are the World...this album, The Dude is classic...Betcha Wouldn't Hurt Me is the cut off here..written by Stevie of course..

  • I remember hearing this song when I was small and always trying to figure out what those words were in the chorus. This is definitely one of those timeless tunes.

  • Great !!!

  • fuckin' awesome bassline!! louis johnson is a bass god!!

  • super !

  • This is so serious!!!

  • when the blonde one appears the writing reads peggy jones
