  • what an awesome guitarist ... going back to Moses ... there is just nothing predictable about his melodic development ... if you listen a lot to him you recognize can maybe even anticipate a "Hahn lick" (for lack of better term and recognizing his vocab was built from horn players) ... but it's the way he connects the dots to arrive at his destination ... it's still a mystery and I've been listening to him for over 35 years ...

  • STILL the man. Hello world,, Where is John Handy?

  • Thanks for the CD,,Dag from Norway

  • Jerry plays great here..its so nice to see one of the original guys still going strong...

  • I learned my first ll V l's & minor ll V l's from Jerry Hahn's 1970's Guitar Player Mag articles and they many are still very hip lines today.

  • great playing !! : )

  • Power,,I haven\t heard him since....with John Handy !!!! Power!!

  • I can't understand with a musician(s) of this caliber, that the people there aren't paying a bit more respect by not talking so loudly and listening to what is clearly music that is above your basic club band! They deserve, and have earned, Respect !

    Respect,

    R~

  • I agree...but the truth is that most people who frequent clubs are usually out for something besides music. And the fact that we live in an almost musically illiterate society adds to this disrespect. I am a musician (I played drums with Jerry back in the 70's) and my solution is to not play in most clubs any more. But sometimes one has to just bite the bullet and play for those few who are actually listening.

  • Love the Jerry Hahn Brotherhood with Mike Finnigan on organ and singing. Captain Bobby Stout, one of the coolest songs ever.

  • Fine player....I was struck by the mature phrasing with masterful sequences and developed ideas. thanks Jerry! JIM

  • vraiment très agréable à écouter et certainement à jouer .jazz de très bon goût

j'aurais aimé être là-bas ce soir là.

    thanks for your music.

  • I studied with Jerry Hahn in the late 60's in San Francisco and saw him perform there many times. I still make my living as a player here in SF and I owe a lot of my success to Jerry. He taught me to be a strong player which I am to this day. I saw him at the Matrix and Keystone Korner in SF plus the Bears Lair in Berkeley and to this day these were some of the best shows I have ever seen!!

    And I have seen many!!!!!!

  • Although not well known, Jerry is in my view one of the best ever.I put him right up there with Wes Montgomery!!!

  • I ues to gig with Jerry in Wichita KS - a place called My Brother's Place! I was a die-hard funk bassist until I heard Jerry Hahns in the 80s. I owe what I know about JAZZ to him - THANKS, BUD! (Bruno)

  • Though I always read his column in Guitar Player magazine, somehow I've never heard him. This is the very first time I hear any JH. Thank you for posting it. Quite wonderful, I say.

  • good teacher also, very motivating. I took lessons with him at Portland State University, and caught him live many times.
