You're definitely good at thinking things through. It's really neat to see how someone else's mind works, even if a video like this is still little more than a tiny window into your mind.
At this point I've not yet watched the video but thanks for the tag. I'm currently putting together my "Portrait of an Atheist" video. As for the 11 questions, I don't feel comfortable making that until I move out which may not be for another 2 years but thank you anyway.
That's grand. Or you can do what lazyperfectionist1 did; he answered a couple of questions with "I rather not answer that". There's no problem in that.
oh... nearly forgot that the world ended 4 days ago ;)
"Because it's there" is never a good reason to do anything. -You slept with my wife - because she was there -Why should I shoot this man? - Because he's there.
"I don't know" is much better and you get away with a lot of stuff ^^
the only problem i have with the death penalty is that the killing is done by strangers who have no place killing criminals.
i have no problem however, with the criminal being handed over to the victims family for them to do with as they please. be it imoral, be it barbaric, i dont care. some things bypass morality, and for me, such revenge is one of them.
Hm.... bit too primitive to my taste although it's understandable and I certainly wouldn't feel terribly sorry for a rapist or a murderer meeting with a cruel fate at the hands of their victim or their victim's family. But I can't see it as "right".
yea, it may be a bit barbaric and what not. counterproductive even. and i do recognize the validity of the arguments against the death penalty. but i just think that if anyone ever hurty my family, i would want to make them pay.
so much so, that if i knew for sure who had done it, i would not even go to the police. i would deffinately take matters in to my own hands. however, thats just me and just on this particular topic, i dont think the vigilante way is the right way to go on everything.
Some women, believe it or not, wouldn't even know by 10 weeks that they're pregnant, or may only have been aware of it for a few weeks. The point I'm making here is that you can draw the line at any point in the 9 months, and it will always be "wrong". But you have to draw it somewhere.
wrt "FOREVER", I really meant "virtually zero". But there always has to be a chance for rehabilitation, even if in practice it will almost always just be a pipe dream.
Well look at it this way by 10 weeks you the get morning sickness. And you'll see a GP by this time (check up) At this point your Dr would notice. And testing will be done. The point i'm making is 10 weeks should be the limit.
Just at there is a limit on alcohol point (for driving) this should the max
On the life sentence.
Put it this way. You are a prim minister/ president and you let a murder out and he goes on killing yet another person. How would you feel ?
I've heard stories of women being surprised by going into labour. At that stage an abortion is out of the question but it shows you you can't jump to conclusions.
Ask any European prime minister. It happens all the time, especially because we DO have fixed penalties. No matter whether you're a risk to society or not, after a fixed term you're let out. My argument is that you should prove to the most sceptical audience imaginable that the threat you posed to society is gone.
How about you are put into office and forced to set -up the max limit (for abortion) when will it be. And yes you have to set a date. no opting out. when will it be ?
I know about this life sentence. you get 25years and you only serve half the time.
But i am not a "bleeding heart liberal" If i see a murder its for life or after few years the victim's family member can be asked for forgiveness (the family member can came up with decision)
I would probably decide on 20 weeks or so, based on the best of my knowledge about how far the nervous system would be developed by then, combined with the fact that a fetus that young has so far never been shown to be viable outside the womb. But I have to repeat that no decision can be "right" about this, and I would expect it to be reviewed regularly on the basis of new information.
OK you say 20 weeks i say 10 weeks then we can come in the middle and say 15 weeks. But as you said this have to be reviewed every now and then based on new info. On that point i would say based on medical information only ( no religion, no philosophy) just biology.
On life sentence
of course one would have to be assessed if he/she pass then the victim's family is asked.
This way responsiblety would not be at the hand of the sate 100% if things goes wrong.
I would be quite the opposite there. The victim's family should not be involved. What if THEY are bleeding heart liberals and they decide to "forgive"? Forgiveness must not come into the decision whether the person is rehabilitated or not. It should be an assessment of the risk still being posed by the person. If there is ANY doubt, no release.
Rozeboosje sounds dutch (I'm from the netherlands), does it have anything to do with that?? ^^ Sorry for not being ontopic. =]

On abortion i would set it at 10 weeks. A) This gives time for the woman time to think about it B) This "thing" will not develop to a baby
On the capital punishment
1) i agree with you to a point (no killing) but i would keep the person FOREVER (until he/she is dead)
On "free market"
there is no such thing as "free" for you its a just for the rich/capitalist.
"Free market" is another word for Bend over, pick up the soap.
