I wouldn't focus the point on who makes more money. Doesn't make sense here. But we could say is that without sales, there's impossible for a company to exist. Sales is what actually move any company. (unless you are a non-profit, but that's a different discussion).
One could just as fairly say that without manufacturing, there's no product to sell, so manufacturing moves the company. Or, in a service business, without the idea behind it and/or the start-up capital, there would be no service to sell or provide. Etc and so on.
It's not any *one* thing that moves a company, however much the sales people want to believe that.

This is a concept that I talk about in my Attraction Marketing video that explains more of the psychology behind why cold calling doesn't work.
