The reason this was a bad call without a doubt is that the official who made the call, Marc Davis, was at the top of the key when the play occurred. With that being the case, there is no way, based on the position of the players, that he could see the position of Bogut's feet. Therefore, how else could he have made a decisive call unless he just used the circumstance, which is Kobe made an exciting play, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt instead of making sure I make the correct call.
xleet21 I'm only 5 9 and I dunk all the time in official games. I m in my school's ball team and my dunking wows everybody (esp the girls lol). It was truthfully extremely simple, I just followed the special workout over at |50 inch vertical [dot] com| - anyone can do it
LA Lakers vs Bucks Highlights [12-16-09] Kobe hits buzzer beater again!!
They couldve called a charge. That does not mean the call was bogus. His feet were not entirely set and he attempts to draw the foul by flopping. The officials have been distaining the flop and rightly so. I will say that was not the most egregious flop I have ever seen but it was a flop. The traveling aspect is just stupid. It was either a charge or a block. Perhaps they should not have given him the continuation with the block call. All this about a trivial play in a trivial game is amazing.
from 3:21-3:25, kobe travels and charges. what gets called? a block. ridiculous. the NBA is a joke. yes i'm a bucks fan but look at the with an open mind and you'll realize how in the nba, the calls go to whoever is more recognizable.
hahahaha luck then he's gotten lucky about 50 times because he has hit shots like this throughout his career. there's a difference between luck and clutch. everyone in the world who plays in the nba and its fans all know when it comes down to a game winniing shot, whos going to get the ball genius. and the funny thing is that no matter ho good of defense you play only kobe can make kobe miss that shot. hahahaha luck, just another laker hater..lol
wow. what a waste of time you spent writing that. i don't think you caught my sarcasm. i was saying that you can't get lucky that many times. and i was responding to the other guy saying that derek fisher was better then kobe.
it is a GOOD CALL!!! OPEN YOUR EYES ...LOOK AT HIS FEET AND THE BALL...HE MADE THE SHOT BEFORE HE MADE NEXT STEP....and the defender was moving his feet ...so counted ...AND 1 ..... GO LAKERS!!!!
i dont think derek fisher can score 81 points, or even 50. or make the tough shots kobe does, or have the crazy footwork kobe has, make long range fading shots with hands right in his eyes. u must be retarded to think that. kobe is the best!
I love Kobe but gotta admit, that was a BAD call. I think he traveled first when he was spinning. But if it was a blocking foul, the shot shouldn't have counted b/c kobe moved couple more steps afterward to get the shot off. I'm happy Lakers won but this was a bad game. If that was called a charge, it probably would have been over...
really thought it was the staples center half the people there were laker fans if it was any other team there would have been lots more of empty sits in that building
basically with Kobe, Lebron, D-Wade & the few others in that neighborhood all you can really do is try not to let it be close deny them the ball and pray. and with Gasol's passing ability it's even harder to keep the ball out of Kobe's hands. That's why Gasol is my fav. that and he keeps bigger stronger guys from dominating cause he's smart and has great fundamentals. stuff will always happen. sorry i'll stop babbling now and just say Go Lakers!
that was another one for the books....Kobe does it again....he's in the highlight reel once more.....it's just another day again at the office for numbah 24...so what else is new?....and just what is it that he couldn't do?....he's just going to make those kind of shots over and over and over again......who will be the next victim??
it was clearly a charge without a doubt but tht doesnt change the fact tht the bucks had a 6 points lead with 1:25 to go and they could not score. Referees or human they make mistakes its just unfortunate tht it had to come at a key moment of the game. Kobe is the best in the league and he proved it one more time
yes superstars get calls more than mortals do... so you can't let it be close if you're going up against a clutch superstar. And most of this year's Laker wins are buzzer beaters. And I think the WILL be taking care of business on the road. And missed call or not 81 points in two nights is pretty good for anyone much less with a broken index finger on your shooting hand. Give Kobe at least a little credit...
Yes I give Kobe credit--but I wish the NBA would give the benefit of doubt to non super stars. "Oh LeBron traveled...he never travels--he must have been pushed"
Why not "Oh Charlie Bell traveled--he never travels--he must have been pushed" That would be refreshing.
Basically it gets old that the superstars get the calls because they're "superstars".
As a fan of the game I cringe when B Roy gets the benefit of a call. I hate that Roy screams every time he gets breathed on in the lane. But as B Roy said in an interview once "I've learned that to get calls you have to act" (Those aren't his exact words but that's what he meant).
You shouldn't have to act. If the refs did their job right every player would be treated fairly. But that's not the case.
oh it happens in NFL too just a lot less frequently seriously I've watched some games where both teams' fans are booing the ref even when he makes the call in there favour kind of makes me feel good that at least the fans know when enough is enough
True, we all gotta just file it under sad but true...it'll never change...i just hate when the refs flip in the middle of the game and start making payback calls. usually when you got supers on each team...at the same time though there are three jobs that no amount of money is enough, President, cop and pro sports ref, cuz no matter what you do half the world thinks you made the wrong call...
So. I bet if they would've called travel or charge, ur little-ass would've been bitching right now. and even if that wus true about the 85% thing u just mentioned, i'm glad i'm one of the 15% that didn't agree. LAKERS OWN THIS GAME!!! AND KOBE IS MVP!!!
No because I would have never seen the video. I only watched this youtube clip because of the controversy. I'm a Blazer fan and wasn't watching this game.
shut it .....regardless of that call bucks could have still won the game ....you cant blame one call on the whole game. lakers executed better than the bucks and bucks choked on free throws and shots.
stop the excuses. a heathly kobe bryant with no broken finger you guys wouldnt even be in this game.
Oh yeah the superstars get special treatment. I know.
As Donaghy said--this is an entertainment business--fans want to see the superstars win.
Its upsetting that this happens yet in other sports it doesn't.
This is why I was (sort of) curious to see how a full season of replacement refs would have affected (effected??) the Kobes and LeBrons and Wades out there.
but, regardless, this 4min long highlight is really just a cock tease to the people wanting to see the game winning shot. so, regardless of the good or bad calls, pure excellence was captured, and it's pretty impressive.
and you Blazer fans have every right to be bitter-- all the talent in the world, and no idea how the hell to use it.

Kobe doesn't have to win more championships to, now, compare him to Jordan. However, I don't mind if he wins this year against the Celtics.

About 85% of the Laker fans agree that was a charge. If the officials had called it a charge/travel the Laker fans would have been like "Good call".
And I think it will change once David Stern is no longer the commissioner. Maybe the new commissioner will hold the refs responsible for once.
