my post was meant to be typed like the following i don't know why it missed letters out. "Usually i like long hair ladies, but Alanis's hair in this vid it is beautiful, although i prefer her with her long and wispy, i love Alanis by the way."
we'll, its ok, its just my opinion, I feel like she is performing much more a pop rock song version than a jazz band one. I still enjoyed to see this anyway
Great version of this song from a singer who's obviously not a jazz singer (though Alanis Morissette has a very good voice, one is just not used to hear her sing those songs...). I like it, it's different!
An amazing delivery of one of the truly great songs of the 20th Century. If you don't like it, fine (reveals a deep character flaw) but don't try to "review" the work, do try to do something 25% as good. When you do, we'll see your name in lights instead of YouTube text.
I have her album 'Jagged little pill' and have always apprecited her voice. Watching this however I realise what an extraordinary talent she has. I can think of many female pop stars who would only embarrass themselves trying to follow that.
Reviews of Irwin Winkler's 'De-Lovely' (2004) had been lukewarm a best. Had resolved not to give the movie a chance until I happened to catch Alanis' unconventional version of 'Let's Do It' on a morning TV show which happily changed my mind: much credit to director Winkler, Ashley Judd and Kevin Klein. Purchased the DVD version (recently purloined by another Cole Porter admirer). Porter and Feinstein might disapprove but the whole affair is simply phenomenal. Look up 'So in Love,' also here.
Su voz es sorprendente, lo que la hace diferente es que no comerciliza con su imagen ni se atropella por la moda, maneja un estilo sencillo sin insinuaciones. Gran cantante
After hearing Ella Fitzgerald sing this, other versions seem...lame, dull, kinda ordinary. But I still absolutely love Alanis! And I respect her for going outside of her genre & comfort zone and actually giving a good performance!

what genre could this song be considered as?

Cole Porter is certainly smiling down on her. This is quite an awesome rendition and not many singers can make this song their own.

I always new Alanis had a pretty voice, but I never knew she, herself, was so pretty too! A cutie to boot!

She blew that one line at 1:51.
The lyrics is "Moths in the Rugs do it, what's the use of moth balls?"
Not that I can blame her; Cole Porter lyrics are complex, like a code.

Really cool arrangement, not too jazzy, more like a dance band of the 1920's would perform it.

Wow. Alanis is so talented. One of the few artists who really doesn't need the studio to give her that star-quality voice Amazing!

This is terrible! Alanis is great, but she can't pull it off. She's singing in her nose and sounds whiny.

Wrong inflections for this song, but still good.
Leonard Feather would wake up in his grave and start scratching in his notebook. One has to be very careful singing out of idiom.
