artic why do you think it is so hard for epic to balance weapons out? it took 3 games in the franchise to get the gnasher somewhat decent, and dedicated servers to fix lag/host issues. i like the concept of this game, but when i play i feel like i am dealing with amateur developers game.

@PLKicen and that's the problem, it is all about money unfortunately and less about making the game more balanced. Epic are sellouts as far as i'm concerned, and in no way during this games conception was it going to be as easily accessible to the masses like call of duty is, and apparently they cant understand that. Amateur development at its finest. It would be different if this was their first weapon pickup game, or GoW1, but its not and there is no excuse to still have the same weapon probs.
@Closen0ugh I think it's difficult for them to create a game where all of the starting weapons have equal value to the player. They are also trying to use a lot of old map design concepts in a game that doesn't need them.

Yeah i agree with what you are saying, I love this game and the concept of it to death, but i get irritated with the gameplay mechanics when i play ranked or somewhat competitively when I can't guarantee a kill, makes it hard for me not to compare it to another weapon pick up game like Halo, where i know that its however many shots to the body and a shot to the head for kils, would love to play with you sometime on a community playdate(<- sounded weird) :D

they should make a free for all gametype, oh and it would have been better if they made beast mode where you play against cog as online players and the other team is locust. when i first bought and seen beast mode on youtube i asummed that it was cog and locust you could play with online but thats not the case which i dont know why they made it like that, ya i remember gow1 days i enjoyed players back then, i miss alot of those maps on gow 1 like fuel depot. cant wait till the 17th new dlc!!!!!
As someone who plays with at least one teammate religiously, I agree that this is a playlist that should be permanent. i would however like the playlist to be split into sub playlist for each game type (TDM, KOTH, and on of my person favorites CTL)
@MrBeauJango The game is low population wise because skill based games like gears and halo are less attractive than cod and battlefield because they take time to get good at. People just want the latest craze which sadly is COD.

personally. I prefer to play Gears with my friends. Hence the party system being my favorite feature since Gears 2. Regardless of my personal playing habits, I agree, this should be a permanent playlist.

@drunkfux1 Yeah.. Same here.. Can't get a ranked game at all cause there's like 7 players in my region playing ranked, and quick matches are full of bots.. I didn't really notice sponging but then again I only played a couple games, so I don't know..

@arCtiCvBi Nice effort at the flip shots at around the 4:00 point, you should put a mini tutorial on that shot within one of your videos as it is a really good shotgun tip and keeps you in cover =) On another note, the most amazing thing about this playlist to me is a few people in my games have actually had a mics in, shocking I know.. :p

I thinks a could be a great addition as a playlist yes, but if it stays there, its should have a higher numbers of players playing in it, since there is 70 % of the playerbase who plays on their own arcording to epic.If its not gonna be the most popular playlist, then the majority arent even caring to familiarize them self of what epic is bringing to the game of new changes. I'm always on this playlist unless i'm playing with family and friends. I always have my headset on since i've watched your Positioning video and since my wife bought me a 7.1 headset, but I keep my mic muted unless other people talk. Because it's true, that most people don't have their mic on or they just don't talk. I know i'm contributing to the problem, it's just in these random playlists, there is so much animosity and lack of sportmanship that I find it easier to just ignore some people.

I thought it was free for all when I first seen it. Haven't been on it though since the first match I was put into had a Swiss host, kind of put me off.

i have a small hope that they might implement some sort of mercenary playlist with multiple game types in it. i personally would play anything if there was a guarantee it would be a fair-ish game. this makes the game fundamentally so much more accessible that it has to be kept, it is totally different from all the other playlists
I would like it to be a permanent playlist but with regular pick ups, I don't use them myself but I feel like the SOS and Retro are balanced now and don't think they should be banned from being starting weapons for people who do want to use them.
Did they add back Brothers In Arms(2v2)? If they have that again I'd play this game again. I don't like playing alone but I don't have enough for a full party.
They gotta have like a "mosh pit" for mercenary, get the people who play alone a chance to play everything without the stress of getting destroyed by full parties.

I think you answered your own question when saying EPIC knew the numbers, and statistically more people play alone than in a party. EPIC is known to go almost solely by the statistics and not by what the fans say they want. I would imagine they wouldn't make this playlist permanent because people "already play lone wolf." I agree with you by the way, this game type has been the most pleasant I have played so far in Gears 3 and is the most deserving to be made a permanent option.

i think that this is a great playlist. i personally play in a team and its hard to enjoy alot of ranked games when your constantly just walking through most teams because they are all single man parties. theres no challange when i play ranked, i want to come up against other 4 or 5 stacked parties even when it just me and 2 friends. its the same reason why i believe you shouldnt be able to play alpha without a 4 stacked party. there need to be a playlist were you can only play the best teams
@xXFairGameXx as for the playlist i think its to little to late. as much as i like this playlist if it was implemented like 6 weeks ago it could of done so much more to help the community. too many people have already abandoned this game because they were tired of facing stacked teams, so introducing it then could have more then doubled the commmunity compared to now. i live in europe and currrent have 0 people playing in alot of game types like execution and alpha. it came to late epic....
This is an absolute brilliant idea to implement as a permanent playlist. So many people (especially newcomers), are scared away from big parties of people who work together and essentially destroy the competition, or I should say lack of. Stranded allows a balanced out playing field where no one has their buddy to help them out and double team people. Good job Epic now just make it permanent!!!
The wording doesn't matter when a nice little description pops up when you highlight the playlist. I haven't found the descriptions for any custom playlist to be misleading yet.
@Rachis01 Yeah some folks dont read the description I presume. I didn't because I went straight to join up with my teammates. Phobos later explained it to me and after I played a few games of it, I tweeted it out and it seems like a number of people didn't look into it. Heck reading through these comments, seems like people didn't know.
How is "Mercenary" any more clear about what this playlist means than "We're All Stranded Now"? Perhaps it's just me, but I think Epic's title for the playlist goes a lot further to describing what it is than the word "Mercenary".
That said, I think it's a really good idea and I do hope they make it a permanent addition, since the majority of players still play without a party.
@AutoPsychotic Mercenary or lonewolf is clearer in understanding based on previous titles and iteration/wording and use on previous titles. Its simply implied and recognized in the sheer number of players that play online.

TDM is normally my least favorite game mode, whether I'm in a full party or not. But playing this playlist ranked is the most fun I've had playing alone.
That said, I'm not sure if this is the exact playlist that becomes permanent, I'd like to try out and test other modes, like Execution or CTL, and see how they play out with the Stranded rules. I think it's better for Epic to test them all out and see what the response is before keeping any of them permanent.
I do love this playlist but every team I get is sweating at their full and take things way too serious, like one kid getting mad whenever one of us died, or another that didn't pick anyone up because someone had stolen his kill, and as always, I have some serious Sponge Bob issues with MP.
It should stay because i went againist a full team (LG) and they should have finished us in 3 minutes in king of the hill. They defend but not capture every hill for ten minutes both rounds,when they needed five point to win againist us who only had 30 points total. I hope this stays.

If it does not become a permanent playlist itself, I would like to see it become addition to all the current playlists. Like there would be Standard, Ranked, and Stranded.
I like that idea in theory, but do we really need to split up the playerbase even more? We already have what, 7 playlists? Split into 14 with Ranked and Quick. If we split them again we'd be scattering our players between 21 different modes. Plus event playlists. Some people have hard enough of a time finding a match as it is.
@CoatedTrout No one to play against except other organized teams, which how it should be, it should NEVER be 5 randoms versus a stacked team. Stacked teams want to play stacked teams I know this because I've been on both sides plenty of times.

@drunkfux1 Yeah.. Same here.. Can't get a ranked game at all cause there's like 7 players in my region playing ranked, and quick matches are full of bots.. I didn't really notice sponging but then again I only played a couple games, so I don't know..

@arCtiCvBi Nice effort at the flip shots at around the 4:00 point, you should put a mini tutorial on that shot within one of your videos as it is a really good shotgun tip and keeps you in cover =) On another note, the most amazing thing about this playlist to me is a few people in my games have actually had a mics in, shocking I know.. :p

I thinks a could be a great addition as a playlist yes, but if it stays there, its should have a higher numbers of players playing in it, since there is 70 % of the playerbase who plays on their own arcording to epic.If its not gonna be the most popular playlist, then the majority arent even caring to familiarize them self of what epic is bringing to the game of new changes. Because there is actually a discription to every playlist just under it otterswise its just futher seperation of players.

I'm always on this playlist unless i'm playing with family and friends. I always have my headset on since i've watched your Positioning video and since my wife bought me a 7.1 headset, but I keep my mic muted unless other people talk. Because it's true, that most people don't have their mic on or they just don't talk. I know i'm contributing to the problem, it's just in these random playlists, there is so much animosity and lack of sportmanship that I find it easier to just ignore some people.

I've been playing Gears for quite some time and recently, you and a few other Gears players have inspired me to get more involved with the community and try out to be in more competitive/ranked games on Gears. I tend to shy away from it though, being that I do mostly play alone. For an upcoming Running Ranked, could you give some insight on how to improve playing in ranked matches or what to expect in general? It would be much appreciated. Thanks.

i have a small hope that they might implement some sort of mercenary playlist with multiple game types in it. i personally would play anything if there was a guarantee it would be a fair-ish game. this makes the game fundamentally so much more accessible that it has to be kept, it is totally different from all the other playlists

I would like it to be a permanent playlist but with regular pick ups, I don't use them myself but I feel like the SOS and Retro are balanced now and don't think they should be banned from being starting weapons for people who do want to use them.

Also, parties of 5 should not be allowed to play quick matches. Quick match should have a maximum party size of 3.

They gotta have like a "mosh pit" for mercenary, get the people who play alone a chance to play everything without the stress of getting destroyed by full parties.
I'm all for it and I LOVE the playlist, although I'm not really a fan of TDM but I am looking forward to KOTH.

I think you answered your own question when saying EPIC knew the numbers, and statistically more people play alone than in a party. EPIC is known to go almost solely by the statistics and not by what the fans say they want. I would imagine they wouldn't make this playlist permanent because people "already play lone wolf." I agree with you by the way, this game type has been the most pleasant I have played so far in Gears 3 and is the most deserving to be made a permanent option.

i think that this is a great playlist. i personally play in a team and its hard to enjoy alot of ranked games when your constantly just walking through most teams because they are all single man parties. theres no challange when i play ranked, i want to come up against other 4 or 5 stacked parties even when it just me and 2 friends. its the same reason why i believe you shouldnt be able to play alpha without a 4 stacked party. there need to be a playlist were you can only play the best teams

@xXFairGameXx as for the playlist i think its to little to late. as much as i like this playlist if it was implemented like 6 weeks ago it could of done so much more to help the community. too many people have already abandoned this game because they were tired of facing stacked teams, so introducing it then could have more then doubled the commmunity compared to now. i live in europe and currrent have 0 people playing in alot of game types like execution and alpha. it came to late epic....

This is an absolute brilliant idea to implement as a permanent playlist. So many people (especially newcomers), are scared away from big parties of people who work together and essentially destroy the competition, or I should say lack of. Stranded allows a balanced out playing field where no one has their buddy to help them out and double team people. Good job Epic now just make it permanent!!!

Phobos later explained it to me and after I played a few games of it, I tweeted it out and it seems like a number of people didn't look into it. Heck reading through these comments, seems like people didn't know.

How is "Mercenary" any more clear about what this playlist means than "We're All Stranded Now"? Perhaps it's just me, but I think Epic's title for the playlist goes a lot further to describing what it is than the word "Mercenary".
That said, I think it's a really good idea and I do hope they make it a permanent addition, since the majority of players still play without a party.

TDM is normally my least favorite game mode, whether I'm in a full party or not. But playing this playlist ranked is the most fun I've had playing alone.
That said, I'm not sure if this is the exact playlist that becomes permanent, I'd like to try out and test other modes, like Execution or CTL, and see how they play out with the Stranded rules. I think it's better for Epic to test them all out and see what the response is before keeping any of them permanent.

I do love this playlist but every team I get is sweating at their full and take things way too serious, like one kid getting mad whenever one of us died, or another that didn't pick anyone up because someone had stolen his kill, and as always, I have some serious Sponge Bob issues with MP.

It should stay because i went againist a full team (LG) and they should have finished us in 3 minutes in king of the hill. They defend but not capture every hill for ten minutes both rounds,when they needed five point to win againist us who only had 30 points total. I hope this stays.

I like that idea in theory, but do we really need to split up the playerbase even more? We already have what, 7 playlists? Split into 14 with Ranked and Quick. If we split them again we'd be scattering our players between 21 different modes. Plus event playlists. Some people have hard enough of a time finding a match as it is.

Ye i really wish this idea of a mercanary list is going through.
Its no fun if your playing at your own and get matched up against this parties of 5 lvl 100's who all got about 300 wins and 20 losses.
You get destroyed so hard that you dont even have fun anymore and just turn off your xbox, so this idea would be gold!

@CoatedTrout No one to play against except other organized teams, which how it should be, it should NEVER be 5 randoms versus a stacked team. Stacked teams want to play stacked teams I know this because I've been on both sides plenty of times.
