who gives a rats...these guys are hot in their jeans and white sneakers. I can almost do without the cars on this one! I said, almost....show me the cars!
This song is excellently crafted. That modulation between the verse and the chorus is killer! It is sooooooo cool what they do with the chord progression here. Rock and roll is just the blues speeded up. Jan and Dean take the 3 chord rock and on the last chord they throw something in that is totally off beat and it works soooooooooooooooo well. It is a stroke of musical genius. I just wish that Jan Berry could hear what I said. Man, I love what they do with this tune!
Burning rubber thick exhaust fills the air/ final tunes tachin' up and action everywhere/ chequered flags, wheelstands sure looks pretty/ here the cheers, ring your ears, out at Drag City.
speaking about running it up. I got a killer ranger atv last month for hunting but it get up to around 45 mph even in 4x4 that thing cooks and nothing stops it not even the steepest hill where we hunt and joy ride with it, even on the snow but it does break loose if you try to turn it too hard on the snow dont have enough weight but it get up faster then a car. loads of fun getting it on some snow and putting it to the floor without the snowplow and peeling out.
These guys really look kool! They dressed sharp back then, and so did the gals in their dresses/skirts. Anyway then us guys looked groovy through the eighties, i wonder sometimes how i ever managed to squeak into those faded jeans. Anyway styles have taken off in all directions but speed hasn't, we still have drag racing going on occasion here in vancouver canada but it's more likely to be termed road rage these days. Thanks to you and all senders that are keeping jan and dean alive on Utube!
Well speed be speed, but its best to use a proper track and be legal about it, the sad thing is that there are only a handful of strips left anywhere and half of what there was in california in the 60s due to the pollution laws ,so the kids with their tuners and compacts take it to the streets again abeit illigal and all, sometimes killing byestanders in wrecks since there is no safe guards like at a track like a wall or stands.
Burn it up!

Jan & Dean belong in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
They had many hits, fans and helped to create sounds that were legendary.
J&D and the Beach Boys created the California surf sound that helped to define the 1960's.
I shake my head at some of the acts already in the Hall.
Many did not do half of what Jan & Dean did.

Drag City is a classic.
Jan & Dean belong in the Hall of Fame.
Their music, style and influence were all big.
J&D are legends and they will be even more loved as the years go by.

Absolutely love it. I've heard so many different recordings by Jan & Dean of it, and this style suits the song best, IMHO.
