No doubt about Maria Callas was the best soprano in the world at her time! And that's the way it goes. She was an American breth and a produce of Julliard Schol of muzic a very expensive one. Angela is a produce of Comunist Romanian which I believe she was a lucky one because the comunists in Romanian love the country's children, takes a good care of them not like now. I think she has a very facile and beautiful voice and good pathos.

However, she does not sing naturally. Instead she sings from tone, the sound of her voice. She imparts tone instead of using the voice in a natural manner. This robs her of her own innate & unique timbre of voice and of her true natural expression. The teaching behind the voice is wrong. The true art is through Bel Canto.

@Desideria7 I'm not invidious but I'm Italian and idiot, and although I'm not an expert I am an opera lover. I think most of Italians love Maria Callas even if she was not Italian, am I wrong? Despite this, I've seen some representations out of Italy and I've to say that sometimes even if we're not expert we tend to criticize some good artists just because of the imperfect Italian; maybe we feel it a bit more than others being our language and we tend to criticize them...but not in general...

Yes, today Maria Callas is an idol, but during her life she suffered much more than any Italian soprano because being a foreigner she had to be better than the best to maintain her position. And every time she sang on stage she had to demonstrate it. And there were the sentences like "Non era manco italiana" (Marcella Pobbe). Renata Tebaldi had a much easier stage life, she was at home.

sin duda Casta Diva y Norma toda es un desafio para la soprano que acepta cantar el aria o la totalidad del rol. Angela se atreve, y a pesar de que suena bastante fria y el marcado esfuerzo del final sigue siendo una de las pocas cantantes actuales a las que se la puede escuchar sin temor a que pifie una sola nota. I liked her rendition of this famous aria from the Callas' greatest role! Angela may not be a real dramatic soprano as Maria was, but she certainly possesses a rich, dark spinto voice with wonderful coloraturas!
