You are such an inspiration to everyone out there who keeps cribbing about old age.....Seeing your moves, it actually makes me think are you 66? I wish my granny could do that.. ;)
Hi first of all you did a good job on counter attacking the one step punch. However what is the purpose of practicing one step sparring? Is it to get yourself ready if you are being attacked in a real fight?
In a real fight no one is gonna come at you with a punch like that (one step punch). Chances are it's gonna be a swing or hook punch aiming for your face. Can this self defense still work for such a punch? Not trying to be sarcastic here. I am asking sincerely.
@DaChrischia One step sparring is an exercise tht allows the student to practice techniques that cannot be practised in free sparring (eg knees, elbows, fingertip thrusts) aswell as targets to below the belt.
It requires great command over focus, distance and timing aswell as a knowledge of which attacking tool is preferable for which target. EG. a fingertip thrust is preferable for penetrating soft parts of the body better than a palm strike. It also allows us to learn the body mechanics.
You are adorable and indeed very precious to all who follow the way of Taekwon-do. You are a proof, that Taekwon-do is a way of life for everyone, and an example of the indominable spirit, we all look up to. I wish you many more battles won! (plaese excuse my poor english)
@saiosve, I thank you. You do me great honour. And your English is very impressive. I have tried to learn Bulgarian as I have twice been to Plovdiv (invited to art symposiums) and can say little more than Blagodarya.
I love seeing anygirl fight, if your a girl martial artist, its just EXTRODENARY to see girls do martial art. Just Looks better than when a guy does it sometimes. Cus you dont see to many girls doing this stuff. It pretty cool.
@puniho oshe your third degree? but your unifrom indicates ITF style taekwondo i like it tho, i am 4th degree myself for WTF i hope u get your 4th dan in your 2 more years haha :)
About one step. It's really an abrieviation on patterns, which then leads to self defence which is where you put your techniques in real life situations.
One step is more formal, just showing off the skill and control of the performers.
I'm not dissing your opinion but I thought I should say this
i never learned one step, after a while my perception got better and i applied what i need into combinations and throws, just by learn the basic blocks and looking at how the body moves etc
Great observation! Although TKD is a great art, this person doesn't really do it justice. On some of the techniques I thought the woman was going to fall over cause her balance was off.
Not every pratictioner is an agonist! This is not boxe in the bronx, nor Thai Boxe in Thailandia or Cambogia: is a Martial Art, mostly practiced for fun, for sport, for phisical and mental shape.
It is common to find amateurs even among black belts. Furthermore, I repeat: maybe she is just old ;)
ha ha - i came on here for the same reason ! - great minds think alike hey ;) - good luck for your grading , my black belt is in 2 months , gonna be very demanding !!!
Forget the fact that you are obviously a mature lady, as people keep mentioning. That was purely some very good, powerful one step combinations which should inspire anyone, regardless of thier age or gender. (From a 34 year old male)
thank you for youngster. I feel like 20. Tomorrow at training, YEAH. I hope i'm so fit like you with 64(Sorry. I learnd 100 years English at scool, but...)Much success for your 3rd Dan test.I have 2nd Dan and maybe one time i make 3nd Dan too. Much fun for you. Tschau Ulli
I'm very happy to see other "old",but powerfull ladies making TKD. I'm 50 and the oldest in our TKD Club. Most other members are teenager. Sometimes it's hard, equal.I love doing TKD.Besides,i coaching little children, the youngest 4years old. And that make realy fun. Greetings Ulli
Thank you Ulli (you youngster you!) I'm 64 now, and preparing to grade for 3rd Dan. AND planning to go to a Master Class in Australia in May/June. Ain't life fun?
Very nice. I am 42 and will be testing this Dec so it is nice to see us more mature people still kicking. Recovery is a monster though :-) he he he...Keep on training.
Nothing but respect, but nice to see you do not need the uniform to show aplications, is someone in the street going to have a do bok on think not more like a tea shirt.
Respect for the woman, the man has no respect for the Art, wearing a t-shirt with a Dobok pants ?? where is your top dude ? where is your belt ? where is your respect for Taekwon-do ?
I'm in Canada for a week (I live in New Zealand), for an art exhibition and guess what? I've found a tkd club here and will go for a training session with them tomorrow.
Hehe. Well don't u let any1 tell u that ur too old to do Martial Arts(Someone is the TAGB were awarded their 5th Dan on their 70th Birthday lol). Coz this video is a display that any1 can do it if they try hard enough and you certainly showed that u try very hard. Good luck for the future and in ur training!
Well done - I love the techniques - diff. than my school

In a real fight, do a side kick to their shins. Then to finish them off do a knife hand strike to their neck. It's just that simple

Hi. It usually takes about four years from absolute beginner to 1st Dan Black Belt. It's worth every minute of the training.

It is ONE STEP...
ONE STEP!!!
This is meant to get you used to performing the moves and where to strike, then you evolve into more intense and better.
Tada?
TKD teaches many many many put downs or just plain out kills.
But the first step to become good is to train simple.
