  • its been 42yrs since I first heard this, its still in my top ten, 1969ish the only question Skinheads asked was are you a Blue Beat Skin or a Trojan Skin.

  • @hathechewed i like both :/ got records from both labels, such a hard choice if i had to choose just 1.

  • The godfather of ska, First there was prince buster Then came the SKA and rock-steady.

  • YOUR

    LECTURES

  • 間違いない!

  • 9 people are truly suffering from madness!

  • Long life perfect musician

  • This song makes me forget about all the little troubles that keep drizzling down on me! It just makes me want to fling foot whereever I stand :)

  • imagine Madness takin their name from a song called Madness, that's pure madness

  • never madness just brill

  • one of the fueds between ja artist (Buster,Perry.Morgan)

Lee Perry - Mad Head (Rolando & Powie 7" 1963)

Referring to Prince Buster's big hit "Madness", Scratch dismisses Buster as a kook in this tune: "It's sad to know that you are mad / You say that madness is gladness / Well, I call it sadness... Sing your song / 'Cause you are wrong... Watch out, mad head, before you lose your bread".

  • Awesome music. Technically it's not ska or reggae but closest to rocksteady, a feel that predates both genres. Probably came somewhere after calypso which is really the roots of this music. Check out Don Baretto from the virgin islands, I think that sound was an influence too.

  • erup gnizama ni ym stnap :)

  • Can you help me with the lyrics of these two songs of the 60 Prince Buster, the first is:

They got to go. because although I understand but not write English.

The second is: THEY GOT MY WAY TO COMME.

Thank you for your answer to: julvivas@yahoo.com

  • I'd no idea Madness' song was a cover. YT's an education : ) I like that drummer. Hi hats or cymbals?

  • I was a little bit too young to be a "real" skin the first time around and just a little too old to be apart of that resurgence of ska music. I could never understand how the Ska music has such an early revivial???

    Both were great.

The old Ska reminds me of fights in Margate between the Skins and the Rockers in the fair ground.

  • Love love .... Yea real skins not fck boneheads remember !

  • I prefer Prince Buster's Madness but Madness's One Step Beyond.

  • I prefer Madness cover of Madness but Prince Busters version of One Step Beyond.

  • @1etesan youve got a good point but why did you have to even remind me of that little fucking brats existance on a prince buster song? that pricks name shouldnt even be on this page. he should have his kneecaps shot before he got the chance to sample this. not after. ya dig? wutever haha BUSTER!!!

  • BEST !

  • reet good tube!

  • ragga sound b wicked yo.

  • ragga be wicked sound..

  • can somebody explain to me why skinheads loved reggae music

  • @samtheman1956 Because it was the perfect opposite to the older hippies and the emerging blues jam bands and prog rock scene. Early reggae was raw, to-the-point, simple, and very danceable. It was also a lower/working class music, so skinheads (not the racist type that have tainted the real skinheads), related more to the Jamaican ex-pats and their music more than the "hip" college/university and middle-to-upper class crowds that were into all the latest rock bands. That's part of it, anyway...

  • @samtheman1956 It's easy. Jamaicans are just the f...ing coolest people in the world period.

  • @samtheman1956 skinhead loved skinhead!

    the true skinhead against racism
