thank you for sharing this with us - we hug you from Phoenix, AZ - USA. Some questions: 1. Is the weather not convenient for people to play in the water (yeah, I see kids, but mostly no grown up people)?! 2. Does that Black rock wall look like a hand made?! - It's sooo beautiful. :)
You really need to get to the beaches out of Auckland.... in the coromandel up north.. well almost the whole east coast from prt jackson down is better than that beach :P
@crazyash12 , Its a very nice place to live. Very safe and freindly. If you plan on getting a job here though we have a very low pay rate. There is like all countries some racism but it is not commonplace.
Grew up nearby. Would run along the beach early mornings.. the sun would rise over Rangi..brilliant
Now live overseas, but any day with blue sky reminds me of Summers at Takapuna beach - the sand was freaking hot and we lay on towels listening to Radio Hauraki:)
Best swims were in winter though. The waves, the body surfing, the freezing water!
Miss the place a lot. If you live around there - treasure it
Born in Castor Bay, grew up in Takapuna & Milford and can't believe that surfing wasn't featured in this presentation. As kids sleeping out at various cherished surf spots (when a NE swell was running or we just needed to be at the beach) tourists & passers by were offered a sausage still sizzling courtesy of a driftwood fire. A chunk of home made bread (sneaked from home- with the sausages!) and home made tomato sauce (!) Gone are those days huh? Please- more surfing.......
Before I lived in Castor Bay, I spent a few weeks in Tak. Once kayaked out to Rangitoto. I feel most fortunate to have spent close to a year in NZ. Thanks for posting this!
I MISS NEW ZEALAND sooo much i kept my horse there and i used to ride it bare back and i just miss it sooo much and that was only when i was 6 yrs old and im 11 now and i just miss NZ and my horse
On Takapuna Beach with my 4 yr old, he saw a man walking two dogs... "Aww, look at the dogs". then he saw 2 seagulls: "Aww, look at the birds". Two young ladies stripped to their bikinis and sprinted past, into the surf: "Aww, look at their bums"
This video really bring tears to my eyes, I worked right next to the Boating Club in the ACNielsen building, and I visit the beach at lunch time every single day. Now I'm living overseas, I really miss NZ and the 15yrs of great memories :( Thank you very much for this vid.
thank you so much - i felt so homesick when i saw this. i lived in takapuna when I was growing up and spent all my free time at the beach looking through the rockpools! My mum and i had a good cry over this video - brought back some good memories!
Great to see this place again, i stayed there for 4 months and spent the last 2 weeks in a caravan right on the beach. Brings me close to tears. Thanks.
