But I agree with the witch too, I love to destroy the luck of people who are in love too when they're getting 'luvvieduvvie' in the middle of the afternoon.
Thank you for posting these!! I study the development and history of fairy tales and folklore, and I wasn't aware anyone had ever done an animation of these!! I see they are not on DVD, but I can't find them on VHS either... any suggestion?
OMG!! This was my absolute favorite episode as a child. I spend yeard searching for this story, which I thought was called 'The Red Flower.' Thanks for posting this!
I remember this faintly. It feels strange to hear the opening and instantly know what I am hearing despite it being 20 years since I last heard it. And start humming to it, saying a few lyrics with it.
Jorinde is a douchebag |'D As she's transformed into a bird, she's just sitting around on the witches head, looking at her fiance instead of flying to him or do ANYTHING. She's like "Sry, Joringel, but the story must go on and you've to do some kind of stuff to safe me. See you later."
If I would be transformed into a bird, I would attack her with my beak first and then fly away for a while, that she cannot force my fiance to do stupid quests XD
actually, I recently read the classic tale of Jorinda and Joringel, and the anime is a little off on some parts. but its mostly right, to. In the story, Joringel dreams that a red flower with a pearl in the center, when touched on something enchanted, would break any of the witch's enchantments. He finds and uses it to free Jorinda and render the witch powerless.
@neolithiumproduction In adapting folk tales, making small changes is allowable. The thing is to just never let anyone have the last word on how a tale is meant to go.
Hehe. This Fairy tale is far older than hippies but I noticed that too. This is a seventeenth / eighteenth century story. I love how accurate this anime was to the classic Faery tales.

Shame on Joringel! Picking on the fat little kitty just because it's the devil.

Jorinde sounds like she's being voiced by Megan Hollingshead (she played the voices for Officer Jenny and Nurse Joy in Pokemon years ago)

Jorinda sounds like young princess in her maiden form yet she sounds like a woman that has grown in age a bit in her nightingale form

@cheer7780 You are welcome. There was a UK dvd produced awhile back with 5 of the most common fairy tales, but other than that, no.

Since this is a kid's show, they got away with only using a handful of voice actors...I still love the show though.
