  • i can do that even slightly better. the tree on the left, that is.

  • wow, that is good!

  • this is really great, i luv it

  • its sideways not great to look at guvnor!

  • Color is how I stay with it willy nilly, I used to used texture maps, however, their all not for sale nowadays.

  • @ftlqed - good idea. You can't go wrong paying attention to color and value. Juxtaposing complements will make them zing, laying them next to each other creates optical blending. Texture is useful too in drawing attention to the main focal area of your painting and drawing it away from the periphery.

  • Great tutorials, thanks.

  • Thank you!

Anakoser Facee - If I'm doing background trees I might make them simpler with fewer colors and most of all mass them together. Took me a moment to understand what you wanted - yes, if it's not the main thing in the painting it's much better to make trees simpler. Once I get my video camera up again and get settled I'll see if I can come up with one.

I just moved out of state and don't even have all of my materials with me, so this is not going to be soon. Sorry about that.

  • wonderful, thank you! i will use with my kids for their art classes!

  • Thank you very much, it helped me alot! :D

  • Thanks:)

  • You don't blend yours in?

  • Hey I was wondering if you could make a video on how to make trees that are a little bit more basic

  • @IKillZombiesForMoney This video is actually pretty basic, just practice is needed. Good luck!

  • I love how you teach it step by step. You can't find that often here in youtube! Keep posting :)

  • He needs to take that Lollipop tree off the paper and hang his awesome tree on the wall so he can look at it whenever he wakes up..I know I would!!

  • im doin my school projct, and this video helps me alot.thanks!

  • the tree on the right is good, but i think the tree on the left is better... :D really good tutorial thanks

  • Thank you for this wonderful video it helped me soo much with my art assignment that the teacher did not explain especially since ive never used pastels before thanks so much!

  • @MaRiShOkDeSiGn - thank you! I'm so glad this helped. Oil pastels are unfamiliar to many teachers, it's an underappreciated modern medium. But they're so versatile, so rich and colorful and easy to use that I love them and know many artists who use them for incredible paintings now!

  • do you use any liquid ?

  • I don't use liquid on this project, but in the project for three part Underpainting in Watersoluble Oil Pastels and its three part sequel Painting in Watersoluble Oil Pastels, I used water with these. You can of course, it's something that makes them versatile.

  • Finally....I feel inspired!

I'm gonna try this out :P

  • Please do! I love seeing what others do with my demos, so message me when you've done the project. Thanks!

  • This is exactly why I love the internet.

  • Thank you!

  • 5******** !!!

  • Thank you!
