  • @paucska

That's damn right.....it's a false consciousness we are not aware of...

The whole idea of 7and a half floor is symbolic, refering to a twisted world we live in.

We are made to believe things that arent true.....

  • She's refusing to understand him and is putting distance between herself and everyone else. Many people do this in real life, and have a strong sense of superiority. The aggression this false sense of oneself creates is I think what the writer is trying to get at in the film. It is used to put people in their place, by people who probably don't deserve it.

  • @atbee totally agree - satirical exaggeration of how people label a person "defective" in order to belittle them - but nothing is wrong with them. And he believes it about thimself just as we all do at times.

  • Thank god there were subtitles, otherwise I wouldn't be able to make out a word of what Dr. Lester is saying!

  • I love Orson Bean!

  • @nyc11104 Chest? (and I've borrowed that line a few times... ;-)

  • This is one of my favorite scenes in this movie. Security!

  • I was glad i was alive when this remarkable film came out.

  • they really named the movie after john malkovich? whats the story behind that one?

    ====

Malkovich is in the movie and it resolves around him.

  • bwahahahahhaahahha!!!!

  • I love this movie :)

  • "chest?"

    "i said yes!"

    "you suggest what?"

    (pumps shotgun) XD

  • brilliant film 10/10

  • they really named the movie after john malkovich? whats the story behind that one?

  • @1111BLAKE1111 Because the hook of the story is that office houses a portal that allows one to enter the mind of John Malkovich (playing himself) for 15 minutes at a time.

  • it revolves around being john malkovich

  • @1111BLAKE1111 check out the trailer... or better yet, take our advice and watch this movie, it kicks ass

  • Superb movie.

  • Heh, I thought the letter to the left was an "s". I feel like an idiot.

  • Mary Kay Place has made a great career out of playing weird parts in weird movies and shows. You should look on youtube for her in Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman... weirdest show I've EVER seen.

  • FUCKING BRILLIANT.

  • This is one of my favorite scenes in this movie. Frickin' love her!

  • ...crap i just got this scene right now :(

  • "Yes, sir. Ghengis Khan Capone." What a bitch. I had a boss like that once. He thought it was really funny to pretend that I was mispronouncing words.

  • i think you are missing the point.... she had a hearing problem for real she wasn't pretending, thats what made it so funny.

  • No, I think you're missing the point. Judging by the rest of the character's behavior in the movie, it's fair to say she just gets a kick out of it, and that she doesn't have a hearing problem.

  • hes kinda cute her :3 never thought i'd say that about john. its the glasses and beard, gets me every time :D

  • Lmfao, "security!"

  • This is one the best films every made...the writing and timing in this scene is flawless

  • genghis khan capone ?

  • I forgot how much I loved this movie.

  • Same thing happened to me. Now I'm downloading this movie to watch it again and again.

People should see Adaptation after this one. It is as great as "Being John Malkovich"and they are conected in a way.

  • Connected how? I saw it but didn't enjoy Adaptation at all. Was I not getting something?

  • I didn't think it was as good. I think the connection comes from the actual actors playing fictional characters of themselves. BJM was so clever and original... absolutely love it.

    "My name is Schwartz."

    "My name is warts?"

    Gets me everytime!

  • I really got a kick from this scene cause my last name Juarez

  • "My name is Warts?"

  • I actually don't get significance of the people not understanding the protagonist

  • I get the impression the entire movie is about people who don't fully live their lives but rather try to keep low (and "low overhead") and maybe also try to live their dreams through other people like Hollywood stars such as John Malcovich, thinking that other people lives are more interesting than theirs. But as we see in the movie, John Malcovich's life is just as ordinary as anyone else's.

  • shinninggum:

I think the 'speech impediement' represents

the excuses (sometimes imagined) that we give ourselves for not being "able" to seek out our dreams.

    Makes sense?

  • I loved that movie. One of the best scenes by far...besides when Malkovich himself goes through the loophole.

  • brilliant scene from a brilliant movie

  • "...and I'm not banging her if that's what you're implying!" - pricelss, that guy should have gotten a nomination.

  • I definitely need to check out this movie. I've never seen it, but this clip makes me want to watch it.

  • just watched it yesterday , great movie

  • what on earth is dr. Lester saying? i can't understand a word. poor guy

  • lol i never noticed that until i saw the subtitles

  • Glad the subtitles helped. I was actually testing out the subtitle settings and thought that this would be an ideal clip that could really use subtitles. Even in the same language.

  • "floris get guinness on the phone"

    "ghengis khan capone. fine."

  • this is the best movie ever to watch when your high

  • word to the motherfucker

  • you know what isnt? passion of the christ!

  • thats the best for acid

  • wow, i can't imagine. it was so scary!

  • thanks for posting this. i just love this film!

  • I am 13 years old and I love this movie. If I was to try to watch this with anyone of my friends, they wouldn't get any points or humor in this movie which makes me a little upset.

  • Sometimes I cant understand how people dont get the original and creative humour in this film!

  • I have found that it is highly intelligent people who get the humor in this movie (or that's what I like to tell myself.)

  • I know, that's what I am saying.

  • I love the speech impediment thing.

  • What is exactly the lady's problem? She has a hard time hearing or something? I just never understood that.

  • thanks for the cuntive reception. today is jan 1, 2008. the time is 5;31 am. anifling something about juearez
