wonderful playing! I really like your version of this piece. I think one thing to look for is the clarity of certain notes, specifically the ones that cause sympathetic vibration of other strings. Perhaps smaller vibrato oscillations to maintain ringing of these notes? Anyway, just a thought. Truly outstanding playing. ; )
i've for some reason fallen in love with the violin.
i love sergei, i'm trying to learn this tune and the violins in the 1st movement of the 2nd piano concerto. would love it if you and the lad could play that one...
Am currently perfecting Racmaninov's Vocalise for my Grade 6 Sax. Is a lovely piece. Love the piece: must admit it is better suited to piano or violin as it was origionally inteneded. Very well played, Molly. xzx
Vaguely related but do you ever look back on your old videos/recordings and cringe? Haha.
After seeing you perform during this past semester, though, I think you've come leaps and bounds in terms of stage presence, at the very least. I mean, yeah, this is from a year and a half ago, but still.
pointless comment is pointless hi i can has youtubes
You have the same problem as me. We both seem to avoid playing at the lower part of the bow (several inches from the frog). That part can make such huge impact on the expression, which we are not fully utilising it...
True! This was a very difficult area for me. Still is! But I have been putting a huge amount of effort into fixing this problem over the past year, since the time this video was recorded and it's really come a long way. I practice my scales at the frog and do other exercises that have helped me a lot!!
Beautiful performance. I am learning this piece at the moment and using your performance for inspiration! Oh, and the pianist doesn't appear to be wearing shoes or socks! Tell him he has lovely feet :-)
I believe you have caught the spirit of this piece. Your comparitively slow tempo adds an elegence missing in those performances taken at a faster pace. Your plaintive execution of the Poco piu mosso tugs at the heart strings as I believe the composer intended. You play this number very nicely and I greatly enjoy listening to it. One suggestion if I may: at bar 35 in the c-d-e sequence, perhaps more bow and an arm vibrato instead of a hand vibrato would add a little more intensity.
Very nice. I just got assigned this piece by my teacher yesterday. You are pretty good, considering this isn't the final thing. I wish I could have seen the final thing.
Haha, thank you Mark! You heard the "completed," more thought-out version of it at the camp, and I hope you enjoyed that more- this one sure has a lot of sour notes, doesn't it? lol! Hope to see you next year. :)
The piano player has understood NOTHING about this music. His movements and his emotion is totally displaced, it's horrible. And the violin is OK, but in my opinion, since the entire piece is only abozt emotion, you should really work on forte-piano changes and more articulated and differentiated emotions within the music. It's much too even.
I hadn't spent a lot of time with the piece when I recorded this. Neither of us had. I don't have a more recent recording, but I'd like to think that our later performance of the piece is much more thought out and understood. Who knows, maybe you'd feel the same about the finished product; but try to remember that this is just an early rehearsal :)
yesterday i had to play vocalise for violin exam. It irritate that you have never anough violinstick (or how you will call it in English?)for the long notes.
i'm playing this piece for a wedding this coming saturday...but i'm not playing with a piano or any accompaniment. i hope it will sound swell. this piece has so much soul. it really needs a piano with it though, to sound the best
his is a true thing that happens! its not a chain letter! its kinda scary at first but it really works!! paste this message into 3 comments and press ALT F4 and your crushes name will appear on the screen!!! its soo wierd!
Well, then I can't be whiny towards you, haha. I more easily maintain relaxation when I "move" less. I don't swivel all around like Joshua Bell, but I do what I have to.
Never lose your sense of humor even when those around you seem to be losing theirs. You have wonderful gifts of music and comedy. Don't stop sharing them with us.

Joanees Maria Valenzano, Roma, 1825. :) It is both a fantastic instrument and a great room that I am playing in that lend to the sound.
