I can recall seeing him play basketball through his collegiate and professional career and without fail, he always had a smile on his face. Even now, in the throes of chemo, he hasn't changed. To me, that's a true testament to the sort of person he is.
He is the last person I expected to see go so soon.

I believe that in the end he knew that cancer was winning, but nobody knew outside of his family. His son, Bubba, graduated high school on Thursday, if you can imagine. He just gave an interview that was shown the Wednesday night before he died!! He looked gaunt but there was nothing about his demeanor that would indicate his time was that short. I guess I'm still in shock
I couldn't believe it when he passed - I thought he was going to make it. I was recently diagnosed and was in the hospital with diabetes when I heard about his amputation; naturally this idea was scary for both of us. Thankfully for me, I no longer need insulin and am thus far maintaining control with pills.Hopefully this means that I won't eventually lose a leg. I desperately wish there could have been a pill to help Wayman. 4000 attended his funeral yesterday. It was broadcast online.

When I heard the news from my son while I was at work I was devastated & saddened. Me and the wife had just saw him performed 4/25/09 at the City of Lights Jazz Festival in Las Vegas. Im tearing as Im writing this, but he had us all on our feet when he did a medley of old school songs near the end of his performance. Words can't express how I fell but to Regina and your children keep the faith, and may God continue to bless you. I will miss you Wayman but your music will be with us for ever.

Tisdale's agent described his death as a "great shock" and noted that Tisdale had been planning to go into the recording studio the following week for a project with jazz guitarist Norman Brown.[13] As yet, it is unconfirmed whether his death was related to his battle with cancer.
After he spent about five minutes talking with me as an autograph seeker after an OU game, he took my team schedule and made sure the whole team autographed it. Five minutes with my hero and one of the greatest human souls I ever encountered changed my life. I miss you Wayman.

Ive had the opportunity to have two conversations with Wayman, once at the Michael Jordan camp with Marcus Miller at UCSB and another time at a Marcus Miller concert at UCLA. Im a fellow bass player and he did not hold back his knowledge in discussing the instrument with me. He was a very down to earth person, just an all around great guy. He will be missed. Life is really short Waymon was a very sweet person. You never think that someone who's so talented also a TRUE star would go so soon in life. We met while he was in college at OU before he was really big time and just a college star. He and his brother played for my church baketball team (my father was the coach). Waymon was a great guy who always smiled and had a great since of humor. I know he is smiling down on all of us. God Bless his family.
I didn't know much about Wayman until seeing him perform on a beautiful summer evening on the Chicago lakefront a few years back. He brought incredible energy to that stage, and had the entire audience feeling like we were all each other's friends. It was obvious that, in addition to being a wonderful musician, Wayman had a zest for life and just oozed sheer joy. A very special man indeed, one to be emulated for many reasons. When I heard the news from my son while I was at work I was devastated & saddened. Me and the wife had just saw him performed 4/25/09 at the City of Lights Jazz Festival in Las Vegas. Im tearing as Im writing this, but he had us all on our feet when he did a medley of old school songs near the end of his performance. Words can't express how I fell but to Regina and your children keep the faith, and may God continue to bless you. I will miss you Wayman but your music will be with us for ever.

I have never seen a man with such determination and will to live despite the obstacle he had to face. I loved his music and his game on the court. He reminded me that nothing is too big for God. Tisdale died at age 44 on the morning of May 15, 2009 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, where his wife had taken him when he had trouble breathing. Tisdale's agent described his death as a "great shock" and noted that Tisdale had been planning to go into the recording studio the following week for a project with jazz guitarist Norman Brown.[13] As yet, it is unconfirmed whether his death was related to his battle with cancer.

Wow...you saw him that recently, before his sad & untimely demise. I knew Wayman was a hoops player, but never knew he was also into jazz! I love jazz! This really sucks...I know we'll all check out sometime, but this is way too soon. Bernie Mac and now him. The world will miss people like those two.

I'm a jazz lover and found out later that he was a basketball player. He was really good at both. My sister just tild me he passed. This is so sad. I will never forget my favorite song of his "After the game"

Ive had the opportunity to have two conversations with Wayman, once at the Michael Jordan camp with Marcus Miller at UCSB and another time at a Marcus Miller concert at UCLA. Im a fellow bass player and he did not hold back his knowledge in discussing the instrument with me. He was a very down to earth person, just an all around great guy. He will be missed. My regards to the Tisdale family, friends and fans. (Revelation 21: 1- 5)

Life is really short Waymon was a very sweet person. You never think that someone who's so talented also a TRUE star would go so soon in life. We met while he was in college at OU before he was really big time and just a college star. He and his brother played for my church baketball team (my father was the coach). Waymon was a great guy who always smiled and had a great since of humor. I know he is smiling down on all of us. God Bless his family.

I didn't know much about Wayman until seeing him perform on a beautiful summer evening on the Chicago lakefront a few years back. He brought incredible energy to that stage, and had the entire audience feeling like we were all each other's friends. It was obvious that, in addition to being a wonderful musician, Wayman had a zest for life and just oozed sheer joy. A very special man indeed, one to be emulated for many reasons. May God bless his family. Heaven is one funky party tonight.

I still can't believe it. What a wonderful, gentle man. Our love and condolences to his family. We've met his wife and two of his daughters on the smooth jazz cruise. They're very close with strong faith to pull them through.

What a wonderful human being! I just can't stop thinking of how courageous this man was during his battle with this dreadful disease. He touched many people from all over the world, and he will be sadly missed. I absolutely love his music and I will play his songs with optimistic hope that his journey helped others through their struggle and relish in memory of the awesome life he lived.
