  • LOVE IT!!!!!!

  • G-Man Squad :)

  • FBD.... our song. ILY, RIP

  • @hectorsalinasisback

keep politics out of good music

  • @hectorsalinasisback

    actually no....

    you can't assume that

i just don't want political SPAM on a place with good music

    ps.

take economics and political classes before you rant

  • @veryrandombutterfly Sorry we got off to a bad start. We both have one thing in common; we like The Cars. We could have a great marriage just like Carol and Ron. I played an Oompa Loompa in the Charlie & The Chocolate Factory remake. I really like The Cars, Ric Ocasek, Ben Orr and related music such as The Records/John Wicks, The Paul Collins Beat, The Nerves and The Only Ones.

  • love it, lets go..

  • sounds live to me, from his vocals anyway... but.. great upload, great one to sing along to!

  • I like this kind of music!

  • The early version???? I love. Thanks Slance1 for this posting!!!!!

  • I love this strange and slightly different version od "Let's go". :)

  • I love this song!

  • This was the song that hooked me on The Cars. It was winter of 1979, I was a junior in high school, and I had zero exposure to rock music at the time. It was loaded in our jukebox at school, and though I never put the first quarter in it, I used to get so pumped when this song played.

Thanks Ric, Ben, David, Greg and Elliot!

  • @netdoctor1 you had a jukebox in your school? jeez why kind of funding did YOU have?

  • i used to hate this song so much about 10-12 years ago but like all 80s music it grew on me like a blight

  • @UniteForgetLeftRight

    neat

let me guess...to popish for you at first?? that's how i felt, but if you listen to it close, it definitely has some poprock in it

  • @UserNamei5 yes its always best when the government controls everything

  • @negrois

Tens of millions of Americans actually believe that. How far down the tubes we've gone and have a lot further to go too.

  • @UserNamei5

If only Trotsky hadn't been forced from power........

  • I like this version better.... it's a little more RAW

  • good song, whatever version, I have to agree with Korban3. The album art not only drew attention to the LP in the record store and helped sell even terrible records, It was an art form. I miss Lp's. Thank's I'm going to go watch Andy Griffith on my 13 inch black and white TV.

  • Wow... I just figured out what's different about this version. It's Rick Ocasek singing lead vocals rather than Ben Orr, Very Cool!

  • @Grimgrimmerson This definitely Ben, not Ric.

  • @BrimHawk

agreed, but i dont know..it's quite deep, maybe it's just benjamin was experimenting

  • @TheMajorHawke Ben's voice was always deep, check out songs This Could be Love, Double Trouble, Don't tell me No... All Great Great Great Ben Orr songs. His voice was entrancing....

  • @elprado1963

    I'll do that thanks...

listen to "cool fool" and "take me now"....some of the cars demos are genius, you'll be shocked!

  • @Grimgrimmerson I like Ric alot but Ben is unmistakeable... Honest Mistake Grim but>>>> there is no way you can miss the best lead vocalist of all time right here ----- Ben Orr...

  • Never seen the cover artwork :)

  • Modern markets killed album art.

  • 2 people were hit by cars at night

  • till the crack of dawn.

  • I like the night-life, baby.

  • LMAO i was. watching not another teen Mooooviee. and i was like ...

    hellyeah rofl :)

  • @RoflxRhonda i downloades this song because of that movie.

  • @hildergarn LMAO!

  • I love this version , and the rare 45rpm cover is sweet!!

  • Love Hawkes synth through the verse!

  • Ahahaha;

    Not another teen movie

    xD

  • Heartbeat City is one of the best songs yes. However those drum machines annoy me more now than in past. All drum machines annoy me now. They should be banned. When I was a teen tyke I too could not tell the difference between Ric and Ben's voice....but listen close and you'll notice, if it's melodic, it's Ben, if it's goofy, it's Ric - granted Ric is the genius who wrote the songs!

  • Hallelujah!!! After 7 years of searching this song. Never knew the title but the tune is still in my head. Thanks a ton!!

    Rock on, dude! \m/

  • Perfect pop song.

  • @shelly10538

    pop-rock ;)

  • @TheMajorHawke Absolutely correct! This rocks hard.

  • I like to knife fight baby!

  • The night life BABY!!!

  • and she wont give up, cuz she's seventy....

  • @unicron24 seventeen you fucKING imbecile

  • LOVE THIS SONG!

  • THIS is the version I remember! Thank you for putting this up!

  • one thing with these guys, it didn't matter if rick or ben sang... you knew it was the cars! They had their own sound.

Not to many band can have 2 different lead singers and you can actually accept it, but with these guys, it didn't matter!

I saw them in Boston Garden yrs ago. And they sounded just like the record. One of my all time favorites.

RIP Ben Orr. you are da man!!

  • the song night life baby is in the video response except its a music video showing citys of the united states

  • i like knife fights baby

  • I like the night life baby!

  • She's got wonderful eyes and a risque mouth(whiskey mouth!)

  • omfg man, good music

  • Ben and Ric sound the same to the non experienced ear. Ben's voice slightly richer, thicker and better. However, Ric wrote almost the entire catalog. Great hearing this early arrangement. To new Cars fans, indulge in the first three albums: THE CARS, CANDY-DO, and PANORAMA.....then if you want more continue with the others. The first three are premo!

  • @toddscotlandmusic I believe that the first you have to hear is "Heartbeat City", but that's just me :) It doesn't really have the true Cars' style, but it's the BEST. To me, of course.

  • I'm not a hardcore Cars fan or anything, so I didn't really notice the differences... very subtle I guess. Did Ben Orr really sing this song? Sounds like Ric

  • SO GOOD!

  • This song gives my ears orgasms!

  • that is fucking hilarious... great song though. You have a good taste in music, much variety - that is the key to life.

  • Definitely some guitar licks that didn't make the final cut.

  • love the cars great band

  • Roy Thomas Baker (Queen producer) is the one who produced the first four Cars Albums. Mutt Lange only produced "Heartbeat City", Slance's favorite.

  • Yep. I only knew of "Heartbeat City" at first, my dad was listening to only it, and he didn't like and even didn't know other 'Cars stuff, hence "you might think" and "drive" were in highest charts... I didn't even know anything about Ben or anybody besides Ric, all I knew that that album rocked and Ric was a guy with sunglasses and he was the singer, that's it. Only THEN i realized "why not check other 'Cars stuff? I KNOW they have something else" and here I am, really...

  • the cars had many # 1 hits and top 40 hits, maybe more than any band in 30 years! check it out!

  • I can hear the subtle diferences...Ben isn't emphasinsing the last sylabols....was it Mutt Lange that made the change? Very interesting...WHERE did you get all this stuff. I do remember the early version of "Candy-O" with the line "Candy-O...I guess you know" which was on several early bootlegs,,,and I think that Mutt Lange also nixed that in the studio. Facinating stuff, man!

  • Cool cartoon images of the band on this rare japanese import disc.

  • Interesting--not really all that different from the version that made the final US release and got all the airplay. It's clearly the same song, same melody and lyrics, but an alternate take or early take. Could even be from the same sessions that yielded the final take for the American release. The mix is also different. Ric Ocasek's vocals are mixed down some instead of pushed to the forefront, and less forcefully inflected. The instrumental bed's also stripped down a little,

  • Benjamin Orr sings the vocals on this song. He tends to mimic Ric's style on Car's songs and it makes them hard to tell apart sometimes. This sounds like some of the actual album tracks in the mix, but Orr's voice sounds very tired on this take and obviously wasn't the one used in the final mix

  • Ric didn't sing this. It's Benjamin Orr

  • the cars Rock!

  • @spocktosisawesome Don't know what cars you are talking about, my cars drive.

    I kid, I kid.

    I agree fully. :)

  • Very interesting to hear this other version. It's a bit disconcerting, too, for those of us who know the "real" version so well. His inflections, and even some of the melody, are so different that it's a bit off-putting. Of course, I like the version I'm used to...but it's great to hear this one because, in some ways, it's like hearing it for the first time. : )

  • now thats music

  • Damn straight!

  • you may want to correct the spelling of let's go in the title though so it appears on more searches

  • Good stuff! Thanks!

  • cars baby

  • Damn Slance! I think I've commented on four or five vids you've done!!! I need to know, is that a japanese cover art?

  • Yep. It is :D

  • Yea the additional keyboards are jammin'

  • Slance you got the good stuff baby :)

  • hell yeah man thanks
