Zune has a glass screen (ie. very hard to scratch). Actually, I've dropped my Zune twice and I've had it for a few months... no scratches at all yet. With my Ipod, just wiping the screen with my shirt sleeve left some very fine scratches in it; not with Zune, though. Plus the screen is much bigger tan Ipod. :D
though screen size doesn't bother me all that much it's not like you have to squint to see video or something.
as long as i can use the device for what i want to mainly music i don't need to be distracted by videos on my ipod while going to work or to the store and such that's a bit to distracting.

While Itunes has 3 million songs, to access them all, youd have to pay 3 million dollars. You pay .99 cents per song. With the zune, you get access to 2 million songs. ALL 2 million. It all depends on what you want to do with them.

It was only a hit right at the beginning because The whole "Hard drive Mp3" and innovation that the iPod brought was new and unique and there was nothing else like it and there were no complaints so it had TONS of time to improve, which is has (not by a lot) so when the Zune came out, everyone was expecting the same standards as the NEW iPods so the Zune doesn't have a chance to gain ground at all, so give Zune some time.
Oh come on... that's just silly. Microsoft had all the time in the world to observe and improve on currently available technology to best their competition, and in some ways they did. No iPod currently has Wi-Fi. Yes, the market is more saturated for players now, but the idea that the Zune needs time to get better is just nuts. What the Zune needs (besides a better name) is to increase marketshare.

Thank you! Though I agree that the Zune really isn't up-to-scratch when compared to the iPod, it has some potential. A few more tweaks with design (since their marketing is already... "in place", if not absolutely pleasing), and we have a great iPod alternative.

zune is microsoft and is heavily DRM'ed meaning they could make your music not play if you wanted.
ipod is apple not much better but it can run linux and has a more of you own it feel.
though i can't decide for you ultimately it is how you feel when using them.
i suggest you find a friend with a ipod and another with a zune or one with both and try them both out to see which one suits you better.

You judge a company, when a product fails based not on the product when it is clearly an isolated incident, but on the customer service. I wonder what the failure rate is for the zune...1 for every 10 sold??...well we can only guess, seeing they haven't sold 10 zunes yet. So the choice isnt as one-sided and obvious as youd like to make it. I prefer Zune because I just put MP3s and video's on it. Video play back is better, and it has a larger screen, and I just like the overall interface better(personal background)
and everyone knows popularity =/= good. I mean just because it placed low in a poll does not mean it is bad. Youd be surprised how many good things you dont hear about. (Like the LG alternative to the Iphone)

While Itunes has 3 million songs, to access them all, youd have to pay 3 million dollars. You pay .99 cents per song. With the zune, you get access to 2 million songs. ALL 2 million. It all depends on what you want to do with them.

From its cool & handy handling to its smooth & clutter-free software - Innovation at its best. And give Zune some time for what? It was only a hit right at the beginning because The whole "Hard drive Mp3" and innovation that the iPod brought was new and unique and there was nothing else like it and there were no complaints so it had TONS of time to improve, which is has (not by a lot) so when the Zune came out, everyone was expecting the same standards as the NEW iPods so the Zune doesn't have a chance to gain ground at all, so give Zune some time.

No iPod currently has Wi-Fi. Yes, the market is more saturated for players now, but the idea that the Zune needs time to get better is just nuts. What the Zune needs (besides a better name) is to increase marketshare.

Thank you! Though I agree that the Zune really isn't up-to-scratch when compared to the iPod, it has some potential. A few more tweaks with design (since their marketing is already... "in place", if not absolutely pleasing), and we have a great iPod alternative.

It's great what you guys are saying, and if I give a positive look on this contradiction, it's surely always good not to follow the 'mainstream' trends of life (try to be different/stand apart from the flocks). Unfortunately this point can't be true when we talk about a product, Zune, made by a company that 'forces' people using its products (ex. its pre-installed OS on most PCs people buy).

wrong wrong wrong. Toshiba did not write the OS. The Zune's team did. they designed it created and endorsed it. This is all part from the creators of the xbox or entertament deparment. The UI and OS is copletely of microsoft. all toshiba had part in this was manufacturing it. Also the ipod has the same hard except zunes is far more sdvanced. They are voth toshiba hard drives.
