I am a local and have lived in Destin all my life and yes I hate tourist, and for those who say that Destin area wouldnt exist w.o tourist you are wrong what keeps this town and surrounding towns existing isnt the few weeks in the spring and month in the summer that ppl come to visit it is the miltary that have 6 air force bases in the area, where millions of military members and there familys live. Ya tourist bring money into the area but destin could stand on its own feet w.o the tourist.

My family and I just returned from our second trip to Destin. The kids loved it! We all had a great time and the people were really nice. I hope the oil doesn't ruin the beautiful beach.

I live out here and let me tell ya, this is one of the finest beaches in the country imo. however, its at its most beutiful when the summer is near its end. around mid august time. its when the waters is clearest, calmest, the temperature is cooler, and dolphis come out so much its not even funny.

For those who goes to Destin everyyear , you're lucky . There are people who has to save there money everyday just to go there for a week or two . Next 2010 , I'll go there , and appreciate the visit not take it for Granted like many others who does .

The cost there is expensive but some of those condos , they arent 5 star resorts , still charge alot . On average you will spend $2,300 for a week 2 bedrooms/2 bathroom . The less you charge , the more people will come .

I went there on vacation, and stay in the Hampton Inn right on the beach. I went for dinner at a restaurant called The Patio. It is a great place, love the waters and fine looking women there. Woooooohoooooo!
