@chride87 There's new game+ and I find myself playing the games every year just to soak in the atmosphere, so in my case no. It depends on the kind of games you enjoy though; ICO and SOTC require lots of patience and they're not nearly as action-packed as other games out nowadays. They're things you have to kind of soak in, take your time with.

I'd never played SotC, but I did have ICO for the ps2 way back. I was little back then and didn't really understand it, so I eventaully traded it in... XD Stupid I know. But I saw a trailer for the re-release, and I had an overwhelming sense of nostalgia like no other. I put it on preorder and have now beaten both games once. These game are unlike any other, and in my opinion, your gaming life will be incomplete should you not play them!

I'm not sure if people who are saying they didn't have framerate problems on SotC know what they're talking about.

With me, the third colossus stood out to me the most of the PS2. He would slam his club or whatever into the ground, and my framerate would just drop quite dramatically. Not to mention it ran at 20 frames( if i remember correctly) constantly.

Ah, Shadow of the Colossus, easily one of the best games ever developed. It was simply unique at the time and probably still is. While the current generation have improved graphics by a ton, I do feel they lack a title like Shadow of the Colossus on PS3. Everything feel so generalized and indistinct, for anyone but fanboys the differences of 360 and PS3 are minor.

As for the quality on PS2, SotC was amazing-looking, so to say that minor upgrades bring the title justice is a little over the top.

I loved shadow of the colossus. A game where every fight is a boss fight. I don't know of any other game that has done that, but I'm sure there are a few, but colossus did it really well. The fights were awesome and intense, as well as strategic. The actual colossus weren't very dynamic compared to today's standards, but they were fun. The landscapes were alos very pretty for PS2 graphics. I would totally get this if I hadn't upgraded from a PS2 to a 360.

No. That would detract from it because attention and funds that should have been put in the main campaign which is what actually matters would have been put into a multiplayer mode that a lot of gamers can't actually access and can fall victim to factors beyond the developers control.

Like Sony turning into stuck-up assholes and getting hacked repeatedly.

@theachtungtree I think the reason so few people see the differences between Ico and its rerelease is that it's fanbase is small to begin with compared with Shadow and most of the people who HAVE played it, played it around when I did which was ten years ago directly after it's release. Therefore such people can't really remember the graphics all that well unless you're like me and decided to replay it in anticipation of its shiny new upgrade.

@smashbro247 this is not a hack and slash type of game series, SOTC is a "open-world" game where all you do is hunt down the colossues to ressurect your girlfriend, Ico is more of a puzzle game, but it has action elements, they are more ARTsy games than anything else.

Shadow of the Colossus is my all time favourite game, and Ico is on my top 5. The immersion and empathy (how little and lost you feel) on this two games are incredible, just not possible to recreate on newer games.

team ico shown us that you dont need heavy dialog to tell a story. well in many ways, sillent protagonist shows us more than the heavily scripted dialog if done right! when we saw the horse die in SOTC, i felt it. bioware need a lesson from this game. they really fail in the silent protagonist game. ex. jade empire.
